Convenience?

Moose Knuckle 02-07-2018 10:15 AM

Pretty surprising Roderick Strong beat Hideo Itami. Hope they give Strong a huge push, always been a huge fan of the guy.

mike adamle 02-07-2018 10:28 AM

Yeah I'm a big fan of Strong as well. I was in the crowd the night he won the ROH World title from Tyler Seth Rollins Black in New York City. Would be pretty crazy to once again be in the crowd when he wins the WWE Cruiserweight Title. Who does everybody see winning this 205 live tourney?

I'm fairly certain that it's fairly easy to post in one thread as opposed to another, especially when it's not even about the same show, but whatever.

• The terrible text graphics and mobile phone promos are still kicking around on SmackDown too I see.

Awful. Just awful.

• So last week Daniel Bryan said we would have a Top 10 List next week but he didn't say why and this week, we got that Top 10 List and still no mention of why we're getting a Top 10 List and what purpose it serves to anyone.

• Seriously, has someone in the back just discovered Adobe After Effects?

This sudden constant usage of on-screen graphics is just both crazy and annoying.

• Good US Title match.

I was surprised that Orton got involved but I guess that's one way of saying "Hey everyone, Randy Orton is still here!". So Orton is now in the title picture and as for Rusev, I think he may still be involved too, which will probably lead to a Triple Threat Match for the title at WrestleMania once Orton gets a shot at Fastlane.

• As I've said before, the graphics are stupid but so is having the wrestlers say "Next!" after their promo.

Especially when right after they say it, the play-by-play commentator says that they're next.

• Why is Ziggler returning to randomly face Corbin? Shouldn't he be trying to claim back the US Title?

Ziggler really should just leave now.

It would be the best thing he's ever done.

Lock Jaw 02-07-2018 06:37 PM

Did I fall asleep and miss Ziggler randomly facing Corbin? I don't remember seeing that happen

Emperor Smeat 02-07-2018 11:33 PM

WWE had a match graphic and quick announcement about it being one of next week's matches.

Oh, that's why 205 has been good. Big nose took over.

Quote:

If you have paid attention to WWE's 205 Live series the last several weeks on the WWE Network, you may have noticed that the series feels far closer in essence to the Cruiserweight Classic tournament that spawned it than what has been the overall presentation of 205 Live itself over the last year.

There is a very good reason for that, PWInsider.com has confirmed. As of last week's episode kicking off the tournament for the vacant WWE Cruiserweight championship, Vince McMahon has stepped aside and is no longer personally putting 205 Live together.

PWInsider.com has confirmed that the series is now being overseen by Triple H, who has brought back many of the hallmarks of the Cruiserweight Classic including the style and presentation of the Cruisers inside the ring. While Vince McMahon had been personally working with the 205 Live stars to bring out their personalities to present them in a certain light, there has been more a focus on the in-ring work and competition under Triple H's vision.

In recent months, there had been talk behind the scenes about why the brand wasn't firing on all cylinders. We are told that McMahon believed that a character-driven show was the best way to get the 205 Live brand over, as seen by his decision to have Enzo Amore shifted there and become the nucleus of the brand, since he was such a strong character.

While Enzo led to an uptick in viewership and interest (before being fired by the company), others in the company still argued that presenting 205 Live similar to how the Cruiserweight Classic was presented was the right way to go. The belief among those who pushed for a return to the CWC presentation was that having smaller talents echoing Raw and Smackdown personalities wasn't going to showcase what made the Cruisers different and unique and it wasn't going to help 205 Livegrow beyond being an hour of WWE TV on the Network.

It should be noted that aspects of the CWC were dropped almost immediately from 205 Live after the series debuted, including personality packages that had been produced to introduce viewers to the performers that were almost immediately discarded.

McMahon finally made the decision to allow Triple H to take over as show runner two weeks ago in an attempt to reboot and fix the brand. While there's always a chance McMahon could place himself back in control (it is, after all, his company), the last two weeks of 205 Live have been compared by those behind the scenes to WWE NXT, in that Triple H has been the alpha and omega when it came to being the decision-maker for the product

I missed this too.

Hard to believe they’ve managed to mishandle Ziggler even more.

Big Vic 02-08-2018 07:54 AM

Lol what was the point of leaving then Ziggler?

Evil Vito 02-08-2018 09:54 AM

I continue to think that's part of Ziggler's angle. His entire gimmick is that nobody gives a shit about him.

Big Vic 02-08-2018 09:57 AM

Hope people chant "Please retire" when he comes out next week.

Not that I want him retired I just want him to work else where.

Boring Corbin getting a chance :0

Evil Vito 02-08-2018 10:44 AM

Ziggler quits, then shows up randomly, and now is gonna possibly have a chance to end up in a WWE Title match

ahahahahaha

Big Vic 02-08-2018 12:07 PM

Kayfabe wise why would Shane want him to have an opportunity to vacate another title?

Evil Vito 02-08-2018 01:18 PM

lol imagine if instead of Styles/Nakamura at Mania we get Ziggler/Nakamura instead

mike adamle 02-09-2018 06:33 PM

Or Corbin/Nakamura...

Simple Fan 02-09-2018 06:49 PM

Kind of funny Shane took note of the Rusev Day chants when talking about the same superstars(KO & Sami) receiving opportunities then gives Ziggler and Corbin a shot. Ziggler just needs to go now.

I would be so upset if that happened. Wouldn't put it passed them though.

Has any of this been explained? lol

Emperor Smeat 02-10-2018 08:50 PM

Nope.

Really feels WWE no longer has any idea of what to do with Ziggy and just tossing things to see if anything sticks for him.

His "make fun of gimmicks" shtick was a bust but something WWE wanted to continue as an idea (Gable & Benjamin). His walkout as US champ was also a bust and didn't come close at all to invoking a CM Punk-like feel. Him being a surprise entrant at the Rumble was another bust. Now they are trying a surprise title shot contender which is going to bust if he wins and likely just be him eating the pin at Fastlane.

#1-norm-fan 02-10-2018 10:04 PM

WWE has a habit of starting an "intriguing" story while clearly having no clue where they're going with it and ending up not coming up with anything. Knowing where you're going when you start a story and not just ending it abruptly should be like... rule #1 in any form of storytelling. How the fuck are these guys getting paid as professional writers?

Moose Knuckle 02-10-2018 10:36 PM

Don't get me wrong, the writing sucks. But there's got to be some fault on Ziggler for just going out and doing this shit and not asking "okay what is all of this leading to?"

#1-norm-fan 02-10-2018 11:47 PM

How do we know he didn't? I don't think they'd suddenly come up with a genius endgame just because a wrestler stated the obvious writing flaw.

I'm sure most of the guys wish their character was booked less haphazardly but since that doesn't seem to be a realistic goal these days, you can't blame them for just going to work and collecting a paycheck.

Lock Jaw 02-11-2018 12:09 AM

Had a dream where the Universal Title somehow became vacant and they did a mini Royal Rumble with dudes who didn't work at WWE anymore as a "second chance".

Cody Rhodes was there as "disfigured". John Morrison came out too..... bunch of other people I don't remember

In the end, Dolph Ziggler came out and won the title. Then he immediately quit and vacated it.

Its been reported that he has before. He was one of the more vocal people about his position allegedly.

But heh, looks like it came to nothing.

mike adamle 02-11-2018 07:23 AM

That sounds like more fake news from Dane Feltzer

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-11-2018 06:23 PM

Mave Deltzer?

#BROKEN Hasney 02-12-2018 12:54 PM

Akira Tozawa's Vince McMahon impersonation might be my favourite gimmick in all of WWE.

Anybody Thrilla 02-12-2018 02:13 PM

Yes, I'm into it. Hilarious for some reason.
