Blitz 09-28-2007 05:20 PM

Final prices and release dates:

360 and PS3: 169.99, Nov. 23.
PS2: 159.99, Dec. 10.

For the bundles obviously.

G 09-28-2007 05:58 PM

yeah, i will not be buying this.

Requiem 09-28-2007 06:11 PM

$170 is a lot better than the previously speculated prices.

Kalyx triaD 09-28-2007 10:56 PM

My boys will be pitching in anyway.

Kane Knight 09-29-2007 11:34 AM

Fuck the bundle.

Still buy it, but probably with a little less equipment.

Evil Vito 09-29-2007 11:43 AM

tbh that bundle seems like a damn good deal

I'll also still have my GH2 controller (just buying the game when GH3 is out) so I'll in effect have the whole band set

Kane Knight 09-29-2007 01:03 PM

It's a nice deal, but I don't have 170 bucks to spend on a single game right now, and so I'm still not doing it.

It's easier if you live in luxury, or under the purview of your parents, but most people are probably looking at cost analysis. I can always buy the drums later, and I probably will, but I'm not really interested in the drumming portion. The mic, OTOH, is something I'll want, and eventually I want the guitar, I can get by with my GH3 guitar to start with. I'm already plunking down 100 bucks on that game.

Blitz 10-10-2007 05:18 PM

Yessssss, "Welcome Home" by Coheed And Cambria confirmed.

Shaggy 10-10-2007 06:47 PM

Im probably gonna just purchase the game to treat it as another guitar hero...Would love to do the full instrument thing...but I would rather keep my money.

Blitz 10-11-2007 01:43 AM

You may not have a choice. I think I saw that the instruments aren't being released stand alone until February.

Thos release dates are likely wrong.

Seeing as how that was one of the incorrect release dates for Rock Band.

Unbundled Rock Band available at launch

The upcoming PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 2 game Rock Band is dependent on specialized microphone, guitar, and drum controllers that won't be available individually when the game launches. However, that isn't stopping developer Harmonix and MTV Games from selling stand-alone copies of the game from day one, in addition to the $169 bundle with the game and all three peripherals.

Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos gave a few more details on the company's Rock Band plans to the trade site Next-Gen in a recent interview. Rigopulos gave two reasons for the company's decision to release the game unbundled at launch, even though players won't be able to buy individual Rock Band instruments with which to play it at the time.

"Harmonix supports open platform standards in our game design, so people will most likely be able to use their existing peripherals with Rock Band," Rigopulos told the site in an opaquely worded reference to the Guitar Hero franchise Harmonix previously developed. "Furthermore, we know that many, many friends are planning to purchase a Rock Band bundle together, along with extra copies of the software, and then share the individual instruments among them."

As for when the official Rock Band instruments will be available outside of the bundle, Rigopulos only said that Harmonix is working to make them available "as soon as humanly possible."

New songs:

New Pornographers-The Electric Version
The Outlaws-Green Grass and High Tides
Sweet-Ballroom Blitz (   )

Gotta say, I really think, in terms of song selection anyways, GH3 wipes the floor with RB.

Kane Knight 10-26-2007 07:32 PM

I thought Ballroom Blitz was already confirmed.

Am I just hallucinating?

Kalyx triaD 10-26-2007 08:35 PM

I understand alot of the selections for a game like this, but I would've liked a bigger emphasis on current Rock. Alot of the songs are slow paced, or fast paced for their timeline which pretty much means slow paced these days.

There's gonna be some kick-ass DL stuff, though. I just don't see Neversoft keeping GH3 alive for long... not in their character.

Blitz 10-27-2007 02:27 AM

Last 4 songs in the main setlist

Aerosmith - Train Kept A Rollin'
Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills
The Killers - When You Were Young
Fall Out Boy - Dead on Arrival (lol?)

Evil Vito 10-27-2007 10:53 AM

Lovin the attention radiohead is getting in this game.

Kane Knight 11-09-2007 10:37 AM

For DLC is everyone gonna have to have the song to play it?

U-Warrior 11-09-2007 10:44 AM

I would assume so, yes.

Kane Knight 11-09-2007 10:48 AM

That could get tricky, then.

U-Warrior 11-09-2007 03:03 PM

I don't know about Timmy, but I want to see some Queen songs in here, to hear people try and pull a Freddie.

Kane Knight 11-09-2007 05:52 PM

TRIBE!

Yeah, I know, I bet the only one who's ever heard of them here is Wadding, and only because I sent him a Boot of their Godzilla cover.

RoXer 11-10-2007 06:15 PM

Yeah just played a demo of this at Best Buy with some guy on the drums whos been there for like 2 days straight (no joke). The guitar was broken so I couldn't downstrum, had to use the dpad. I didn't get a chance to mess with the toggles and such but it still doesn't sway me enough to buy the whole pack. The camera speed of the characters playing the songs looks like it's a DVD of concert or something. It looks awesome.

Blitz 11-10-2007 06:28 PM

It's been delayed in Canada a month, because the box does not include French, and it is a rule in Canada that the box has to be bilingual or something :|

Fuck that. Amazon, here I come.

Fignuts 11-10-2007 07:43 PM

Is there no end to canada's douchebaggery?
