I watched the movie for the visuals..as other have pointed out..the story was pretty predictable and cliche from a science fiction perspective.
This also suffers from the "white savior" symptom so many movies suffer. A primitive culture always needs a white man to help them beat the evil white imperialists because other type of people are not able of doing it on their own. Reminded me of the Last Samurai :rofl:
