Can't believe ND even made it a game w/ USC. USC made so many mistakes, got real lucky today.

Florida escaped today too, I want to see UF/USC National Championship.

RP 10-18-2009 07:51 AM

FUCKING YES PURDUE. WAY TO FUCKING GO.

If i cant have a National Championship, or a BCS Bow in , or a Big Ten title, the thing i wanted most was a win over OSU. Great fucking job Purdue. No one will give them the credit they deserve cause everyone is on the Terrible Prior argument, but Prior ran the ball 21 times and only averaged 1 yard a carry. The Boilermakers defense stepped up huge. I hope we can run the table and get into a bowl game.

Purdue came within a 2 point conversion of tieing the game against Oregon. They lost to Notre Dame by a FG. This is really good team. Purdue is a 8-4 team that's been stung with some tough losses. They could have packed it in against OSU but they didnt. Biggest win since Brees beat #4 K- State in the Alamo bowl.

The 1998 edition to the Alamo Bowl featured the Kansas State Wildcats, and the Purdue Boilermakers.

The Wildcats came into the game fresh off a double over-time loss in the Big 12 Championship Game to the Texas A&M Aggies, which ruined their chance at National Championship in the Fiesta Bowl. With an experienced quarterback, Michael Bishop, the Heisman Trophy runner-up, and one of the best offenses and defenses in the country, the Wildcats were generally expected to have an easy bowl victory.

The Wildcats finished with a #3 ranking in the BCS and thought they deserved to play in one of the BCS Bowl games. Feeling out of place in the Alamo Bowl,[citation needed] Kansas State was unable to overcome the unranked Purdue Boilermakers, who drove 80 yards for a touchdown in the final minute to shock Kansas State 37-34.

After this season, the "Kansas State Rule" was created, making the #3 spot an automatic bid. Kansas State would finish ranked #6 in the BCS the following season, only to be left out of the BCS once again.

The win was selected as the second best win for Purdue during the Joe Tiller Era by noted Purdue blog Off the Tracks

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-18-2009 09:56 PM

Going to be "make or break" for TCU pretty soon when they go up against BYU. I would like to see two non-BCS teams make it but that's highly unlikely. Probably going to be Boise State this year.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-18-2009 09:58 PM

Ohio State's computer average was 32nd, but the Harris and USA Today polls have them 17th.

Pretty surprised Boise State is so high. Not that they don't deserve it but usually the BCS Busters get shafted.

Droford 10-18-2009 10:05 PM

Im rooting for Iowa/Cincinatti Championship game but it'll never happen. I do figure they leapfrog Boise State eventually just based on strength of schedule.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-18-2009 10:11 PM

If Weis gets run this year Brian Kelly is going to get a massive contract from Notre Dame.

redoneja 10-18-2009 10:39 PM

So fucking glad that Virginia Tech lost. Even though I'm a Gators fan, I'd rather see VATech lose than UF win.

Skippord 10-18-2009 11:58 PM

I feel like Bama should be number 1

Supreme Olajuwon 10-19-2009 07:55 AM

Should be interesting to see what happens if it comes down to an undefeated Big East team and a 1 loss SEC team, Big 12 team, or USC for the BCS title game. Cause it's one thing to say that an undefeated non-BCS team can't get in, but the Big East is a BCS conference. If a BCS team can't run the table and play for a national title, what's the point of having BCS conferences?

Supreme Olajuwon 10-19-2009 07:56 AM

Now that I think of it, I dunno if Iowa runs the table and gets in the title game either. If that happened you could pretty much see the downfall of the BCS coming. Even if the Big Ten has been weak, they still have a ton of stroke.

Emperor Smeat 10-19-2009 04:14 PM

A couple of years ago when West Virginia and UConn/USF was undefeated late into the season, there was a concern about a Big East team in the title game but the BCS poll had them ranked in the Top 2. ESPN and others were happy once both Big East teams fell out since it allowed the SEC v Big 10/12/USC game to occur for ratings purposes.

Same with the ACC outside of Miami U/FSU/V Tech in that its a BCS conference but realistically nobody wants them in a title game. Utah only got a #2 last year because all the games were done and it guaranteed a symbolic ranking while making sure Utah couldn't play in the title game.

Emperor Smeat 10-19-2009 04:16 PM

I think this year or next year is 1st year ESPN takes over coverage of BCS Bowls and just so happened they stopped talking about the need or the debate over the playoffs in college football. They don't want the NCAA to get upset and maybe cancel the contract.

RoXer 10-21-2009 05:42 PM

U of A should not be ranked 22

They shouldn't even be in the top 35

Emperor Smeat 10-21-2009 08:55 PM

Apparently SEC suspends the ref crew from Arkansas-Florida for 1 week minimum and then won't get any top quality games till mid-November. Supposedly ESPN had an article stating the ref crew was meant to have their scheduled week break this weekend so the punishment isn't really much of a punishment besides the no top games allowed.

Wish this scenario plays out just to see what happens. Unfortunately I don't see it happening.

Nervous Ferret 10-22-2009 01:41 AM

^Been thinking about that too. I feel like if Texas runs the table as well as Cincinnati/Iowa that 1 loss SEC team/USC would play in the national title game. I don't hate the BCS but if an undefeated BCS school were to not get in over a 1 loss team it would really, really suck. Kinda completely ruins everything

Supreme Olajuwon 10-22-2009 01:56 AM

It's already ridiculous enough that Boise State could have their 3rd undefeated regular season in 4 years and still not be considered for the title game. There's even talk that if Oregon wins the Pac 10 they'd have a better shot of making the game even after they lost to Boise State.

DAMN iNATOR 10-22-2009 02:35 AM

Well, looks like my prediction, previously seen here, didn't quite work out. But now we must look ahead to Minnesota next week.

ClockShot 10-24-2009 04:21 PM

UConn....:'(

Moreso the QB's fault for throwing 3 picks.

Shadow 10-24-2009 10:42 PM

UConn almost had it in the bag till Devine pulled a mirical run.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-29-2009 12:39 AM

UNC 16 point underdogs tomorrow vs. Va. Tech

Supreme Olajuwon 10-29-2009 08:01 AM

Just heard a radio ad for UC football to come watch the Bearcats euthanize the UConn Huskies.

HOW BOUT A LITTLE SENSITIVITY, BRO

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-29-2009 07:05 PM

Hearing rumors of Oregon going with the "black out" Saturday night vs USC. School officials aren't allowing them to call it that though because they feel it's racist. When I think black out I think of drinking large amounts of alcohol, not black people.

Hopefully Oregon rocks completely black uniforms, they had the black helmets last week.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-31-2009 02:38 PM

Man, Big Ten refs must really hate Indiana. Screwed them in the Michigan game and now they're doing everything humanly possibly to make them lose to Iowa.

Evil Vito 10-31-2009 03:57 PM

Poor UConn :(

ClockShot 10-31-2009 04:57 PM

Yeah man, they gotta get it together. I didn't think it would be this bad.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-31-2009 06:44 PM

People were calling Florida a soft #1 all week because their last 3 games weren't blowouts, but they are stomping Georgia like the JV team.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-31-2009 07:12 PM

Some crazy high scoring games today. Florida St. beat NC St. 45-42, Houston beat So. Miss 50-43, and North Texas is currently up on Western Kentucky 56-49.

Droford 10-31-2009 10:37 PM

If USC loses, is it safe to say we wont have to hear about them being in title contention even if everyone else loses at least once?

Emperor Smeat 11-01-2009 01:10 AM

Yeup, I think in the minds of the voters its something like SEC, Big 12, Big 10, Pac-10, ACC, Big East, then everyone else for conference rankings. Since last few years for no real reason except it was done was to ensure 1 SEC team gets to be in the title game.

So if USC looses 2 times in a conference that's been hyped as USC's to always win, its going to hurt them more in perception.

Georgia pretty much is the JV team

Texas for #1

Yah its wonderful isnt it? Honestly, I think College Football is rigged. I've thought this for a while. And watching whats happened to Indiana this season just reinforces it. It's clear that the Big Ten did not want Indiana winning the Michigan game when Michigan was the talk of the conference and now Iowa is the talk of the conference and they didnt want IU winning that one either.

And for people that are like " No way they can rig college football, they'd get investigated!!! "... See the Bowl Championship Series. Nuff said.

RP 11-02-2009 10:39 AM

College Football is slowly killing themselves anyways. I listen to a ton of talk radio and i read all the articles and what not. This time 3 or 4 years ago, having 5 undefeateds would be a major conversation. It would be a bigger deal then the beginning of the NFL season. Who gets a bid, who doesnt. Who's gunna get screwed and what not. But now, no one really cares. Everyone on radio and sportswriters and such, all know what the National Championship will be. It's gunna be some form of Texas/ Florida/ Alabama. It's been decided for the last 5 weeks now. No one cares anymore. I dont even watch. Money has sucked the life and legitimacy out of College Football.
