Impact! 05-26-2008 11:09 PM

Probably should have worded that any site recommendations where I can find some good MMA torrents, but you get the point

I'm personally not a Tito fan...but really Dana has handled him all wrong in the last year. How did you make him into a babyface when a while ago no one could stand him?

Rob 05-27-2008 01:09 PM

And the facts all back Tito too. Dana White is trying to make himself the star of the show, the face of the company, THE superstar. The bullshit about Tito rather being a superstar is two faced. He has his faults as a businessman but huge strengths too. I actually admire how he can tell big TV companies to fuck off and wait for the deal that suits him, I admire the man has guts. However, he is an idiot for knocking Tito's drawing power but talking about him like a chump. If your biggest star is a chump, what does that make everyone beneath him?

At the press conference, a reporter asked why is Silva making 150k and Jardine made 10k. Dana said Jardine made more but his official purse is that sum which is reported to the atheltic comission. Bottom line, he made 10k. As a guy who was semi main event according to Dana, this is bollocks. And Tito Ortiz did things the right way unlike Randy Couture, waited out his deal and fought under the contract he signed. And to top it off, it ain't like he is asking for Mayweather money or anything. A percentage of the gate and PPV buys (more than he is getting) isn't too much to asking for.

Reavant 05-27-2008 01:13 PM

plus dana is spreading out the fights for guys that make a lot of money now.... big names are waiting at least 6 months now between fights (with GSP being the only real exception) so that he doesnt have to shell out the money that is guaranteed to them in their contracts.

Innovator 05-27-2008 01:15 PM

They definitely need to rework the fighter contracts. You sign a guy to a base contract, then he semi main events a card and gets paid the same. If your name is being advertised for the show as a feature fight, you should get a little more. well in jardine's case a lot more

I think he has to spread the stars out because they have too many shows. To be fair, most of them, he tried to get fighting in London once Chuck was out. Again, the one of the biggest problems is that he thinks the UFC brand draws more than the fighters. It draws but nothing close to the fighters name value. If BJ Penn goes back to 170lbs, under no circumstances should they ever let him fight at 155lbs again. Only hurts that division. Plus he needs to do the big fights while they are big. Let's take Matt Serra for example. He has two huge fights possible - GSP and Matt Hughes. Common sense says have the GSP fight first. If he loses, it doesn't hurt the Hughes fight at all since he just lost to the best guy in the division. If he wins, even better. However, if they do the Hughes fight first and he loses, they fuck any chance of a third fight with GSP doing any numbers.

Jura 05-27-2008 05:55 PM

Bruce Buffer needs to get knocked the fuck out.

Rob 05-27-2008 06:13 PM

Bruce Buffer is a great man.

I agree but look at the layoff he has been giving the champs lately other than GSP. BJ went all the way from last summer to his match with stevenson. chuck was slated to go from december till june which is a big jump. He wont give nog a fight it seems for like 7 moth spans of time. The thing is, that if they have so many shows, it should be easy to set up the big names at least 3 times a year.

Rob 05-28-2008 01:20 PM

BJ wasn't the champion last summer.

And having the bigger names on more shows devalues them. 3 fights a year is great in an ideal world where you have set challengers and no injuries. I'd bet Rampage fights again this year after the Griffin fight. Maybe even twice. Same for Anderson Silva. BJ might even get a new years fight on top.

Jura 05-29-2008 03:34 PM

Anyone going to watch EliteXC on Saturday? Also Gina Carano is so hot. She is a definite Knock-Out. Literally.

Rob 05-29-2008 04:37 PM

Nope. Not available in Britain unfortunately. Neither is the WEC show. This sucks.

Innovator 05-29-2008 05:48 PM

Man i'd love it if Gina pulled guard on me

Rob 05-29-2008 06:11 PM

"I'd show her my 30cm pole"

That Mauro Ranallo is a great man.

Crimson 05-29-2008 07:56 PM

Yea Carano is hot as hell. She could mount me any day

Jura 05-29-2008 08:11 PM

lol at all the MMA puns. I only saw one pic of the other girl and she doesn't look bad herself. I could be wrong though. Btw, there might be an internet stream for it Rob.

Vastardikai 05-29-2008 10:44 PM

I'd put Gina in a rear naked choke.

:naughty:

McLegend 05-30-2008 01:08 AM

Gina can put me a triangle.

McLegend 05-30-2008 01:08 AM

I win.

Rob 05-30-2008 04:48 AM

I'd rather put her in one :shifty:

Crimson 05-30-2008 12:09 PM

I'd beat her via can opener

Reavant 05-30-2008 12:31 PM

id prolly beat her via KO Donkey Punch in the third round

Stickman 05-30-2008 01:06 PM

I'd ground and pound her.

Rob 05-30-2008 05:53 PM

Speaking of Fatty McFatterson, she failed to make weight. Came on the scales at 144lbs. She has to give 12.5% of her purse to Kaitlin Young.

Okay she ain't fat.

News on Bobby Lashley

http://mmajunkie.com/news/4460/wwes-...ght-league.mma

Jura 05-30-2008 07:48 PM

We love you Bobby.

Reavant 05-30-2008 07:54 PM

hes going to be scary in the future as well

Rob 05-31-2008 10:11 AM

Well see.

Reavant 05-31-2008 02:12 PM

The guy is a 2x naia national wrestling champ... not nearly as good as brock, but that skill alone will win him 75% of his matches plus hes more athletic.

Rob 05-31-2008 04:01 PM

Yeah but we don't know if he can take a punch or defend submissions.

What weight did he wrestle at?

Jura 05-31-2008 04:35 PM

well that would encompase the 25% that his wrestling wouldnt carry him lol. He wrestled 285.

Rob 05-31-2008 07:49 PM

285lbs? No fucking way.

You know I'm talking the legit wrestling. Not the fake shit right?

Rob 05-31-2008 07:50 PM

Predictions for the weekend

Lawler KO's Smith
Thompson KO's Kimbo
Faber decisions Pulver

HeartBreakMan2k 05-31-2008 07:59 PM

Everything I had on Lashley said he wrestled at like 177 or 180 or so in college. He bulked up to like 250 or so for wrestling.

ok see 285 doesnt mean you weigh 285 it means you fall into a weight class from 197-285.

As it turns out he did actually wrestle at 177 as heartbreak put it. I was not certain if he was at 285 for sure, I more assumed from his size now. I just looked it up and it turns out he was a 3x national champ which is even more impressive.

HeartBreakMan2k 05-31-2008 08:39 PM

Yeah, I knew he wasn't that heavy. When I was wrestling and doing MMA there were guys I followed closely. Oddly enough Brock and Bobby were two of the guys (along with a bunch of guys who never transitioned to MMA so I don't know how many people will know of them).

I believe he did wrestle at around 235 in the army though.

Reavant 05-31-2008 08:57 PM

you wrestled?

Reavant 05-31-2008 08:58 PM

im also sure its safe to say then that good ole bobby went to the juice shop and juiced it up real good

HeartBreakMan2k 05-31-2008 09:02 PM

Wrestled when I was younger AAU and highschool had been transitioning through to BJJ and MT kickboxing. Wrestled since I was 5 and done more hybrid/mma style for the last 12 years.

AND it's time for Elite XC. I will say however, their production values already seem not quite up to the standards that the UFC has put in place.
