One analyist said today he feels Hackett will pass Branch as the #1 WR for the Seahawks

road doggy dogg 06-28-2007 12:24 AM

I reckon Tank will go to the Bills.

mrslackalack 06-28-2007 12:28 AM

Bills are the fav to get him I heard

Jesus Shuttlesworth 06-28-2007 12:40 AM

Who is going to start for the Bills next season at tailback? Is it gonna be Lynch or is there someone else on the team I'm not thinking of?

road doggy dogg 06-28-2007 12:43 AM

I'd imagine it's gotta be Lynch. Who else do they even have? Anthony Thomas?

SammyG 06-28-2007 01:04 AM

LOL @ Mike Furrey upping the ante to 12 wins for the year. Lions are drinking some serious Koolaid.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 06-28-2007 01:07 AM

Remember a few years ago Roy Williams predicted they would beat the Bears (think it was the Bears anyway) and they ended up losing by 30 or 40 points?

Lions are real good with predictions

SammyG 06-28-2007 01:11 AM

Didn't he also claim they were "really close" to scoring 40 points after their first game, which they lost to the Seahawks by a score of 9-6 ?

road doggy dogg 06-28-2007 01:13 AM

SammyG 06-28-2007 03:26 AM

Calvin Johnson needs to start making guarentees. He should guarentee he has at least 40 touchdown catches this year.

Lynch killed everyone else.

mrslackalack 06-28-2007 11:00 PM

Id say Lynch will start and Thomas will get some carries as hes a power back and for 3rd downs

mrslackalack 06-28-2007 11:01 PM

Its hilarous that Kitna said that when his 2 career best records as a starter were 9-7 and 8-8!

Hanso Amore 06-29-2007 01:50 AM

Lynch will be the feature back, however it seems like the bills are easing him in. He will be on the Addai type level, working more into the starting role as the weeks pass. I predict about 1000 yards rushing and about 40 catches. Anthony Thomas and their 4th Pick Wright will also get carries every game. Wright is a very powerful back who fell after a great career at Fresno ST because of injuries. He will never be a starting back, but as a 5-10 carries a game he will be a great change of pace back. By the end of the year The A-train will be out of a job.

Alot of people have Tank to the bills, which I would welcome, but it wont happen. Both GM Marv Levy and Coach Dick Jauron are all about High Character players, that is their thing. No way they bring in a troubled guy that is going to miss 8 games. Bill traded for Darwin Walker and if he doesn't sign, then we are just going to suck it up the middle. If he doesn't play, I doubt we sign anyone else.

Kitna's lofty aim: 50 passing TDs

July 1, 2007

FREE PRESS NEWS SERVICES

At this rate, Jon Kitna might say the Lions are going to win two Super Bowls -- this season.

Having already made waves by saying the Lions will win 10 games this year, the quarterback mentioned another far-out figure during an appearance on ESPN's "Mike and Mike in the Morning" radio show Friday.

Asked how many touchdown passes he will throw this season, Kitna replied: "We've been joking around as the passing-game crew -- the receivers and tights ends and stuff -- we've been breaking down our little huddles saying '50' and all that stuff.

"But we know that's an awful lofty goal."

Why, yes, it is. The NFL record, held by Peyton Manning, is 49. Kitna's career high is 26, set in 2003.

The interviewers also asked Kitna about his 10-wins-or-more prediction, and he again stood behind it.

"The thing I think is holding back our organization is expectations," Kitna said. "Our expectation level has to come up."

• Kitna also mentioned that tailback Kevin Jones is "looking good" in his recovery from a serious foot injury suffered last season.
haha Kitna is like my favourite Lion now

RP 07-01-2007 06:41 PM

LOL what is that guy smoking. I want some now.

MTH15 07-01-2007 07:02 PM

Kitna did pass for like 4000 yards. I'd lmao if they won like 2 games. D hall says he wants to be a FA after his contract is out in ATL :( shit

road doggy dogg 07-01-2007 08:36 PM

Yeah Kitna will def get the good numbers (fantasy-wise, at least) but I think it's a bit much to expect anything over 30 TDs, even with the receivers he has. Don't get me wrong though, I'm glad the team is setting the bar high, at least that way when they settle for much less, "much less" will be more than what they're used to. I hope.

Hall will probably get a huge contract elsewhere after this season. And I'll laugh because he's the most over-rated player ever.

Hanso Amore 07-02-2007 02:25 AM

Cornerbacks, even shutdown, are over paid. While Having Champ Bailey is amazing, alot of teams can get by with 3 or 4 guys that cost the same (See Colts/Patriots.

For now it seems, you can mask your corners with systems. Im sure they will get figured out and the day of Lockdown premium corners will come back, but when guys like Clements are getting 80 million, the cover 2 is worth its weight in gold. Premium Safeties are really starting to emerge as the important money posistion. Also Guard. 10 years ago it wasnt an important spot, but now with rotations on DLine as opposed to a guy getting all the snaps, top notch guards are really important. When you have fresh D lineman rushing all game, you need a stud out there to suck them in.

Supreme Olajuwon 07-02-2007 02:28 AM

I remember a few years ago the Bengals started 3-0 I think and Kitna came out and predicted they'd do no worse than 13-3. They ended up 6-10 I believe. Where's your god now, Jon?

NFL International to focus on global impact:
NFL Europa discontinued

June 29, 2007) -- The NFL has determined that it will switch the focus of its international business strategy to presenting the NFL to the widest possible global audience, including broader media visibility and the staging of international regular-season games, and will discontinue NFL Europa. "The time is right to re-focus the NFL's strategy on initiatives with global impact, including worldwide media coverage of our sport and the staging of live regular-season NFL games," commented Mark Waller, senior vice president of NFL International.

"We will continue to build our international fan base by taking advantage of technology and customized digital media that make the NFL more accessible on a global scale than ever before and through the regular-season game experience. NFL Europa has created thousands of passionate fans who have supported that league and our sport for many years and we look forward to building on this foundation as we begin this new phase of our international development."

Last October, NFL owners passed a resolution to stage up to two international regular-season games per season. The new international series will launch on Sunday, October 28 when the Miami Dolphins host the New York Giants at London's Wembley Stadium.

In addition to the 2007 game in the United Kingdom, the NFL is preparing to stage regular-season games in future seasons in Germany, Mexico and Canada, with Germany being a strong candidate to host a regular-season NFL game in 2008.

NFL Europa began in 1991 as the World League of American Football, with 10 teams competing in North America and Europe. After a two-year hiatus (1993-94) following the 1992 season, the league returned in 1995 as a six-team, all-European venture, with five teams in Germany since 2005, and has existed in that format through its final season in 2007.
Yeah, maybe it because the stopped showing it on national television.. Not everyone has NFL Network ffs..

MTH15 07-02-2007 05:11 PM

I do :) Those NFL Football Follies are halarious

Kris P Lettus 07-02-2007 05:21 PM

I blame you then..

I had it when I lived in NOLA but Time Warner doesn't carry it.. We just changed to Commcast and they say they'll have it by preseason..

MTH15 07-02-2007 05:43 PM

I got comcast too. I just called and ordered it for a year. like 1.99$ + 1.99$ for installation (which makes no sense because we were on the phone) so it was 4.00$. Pretty cheap

DrA 07-03-2007 01:01 AM

I actually think that the Lions won't be that awful this year. While I doubt that they will win 12 games or anything like that, I don't think that 8-8 is out of the question for them. Kitna really isn't that bad.

I also want to point out that having Norv Turner as your head coach is an automatic death sentence. It's a shame, since San Diego has so much talent on that team. I would not be surprised if they were under .500 this season.

SammyG 07-03-2007 01:26 PM

The St.Louis Rams will win the NFC West

MTH15 07-03-2007 05:07 PM

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Former Philadelphia linebacker Dhani Jones, who started for the Eagles last season but was waived after last spring's draft, said Thursday night that he intends to sign with the New Orleans Saints.

Jones, 29, discussed his decision while being interviewed on the NFL Network. Saints spokesman Greg Bensel did not immediately respond to a message seeking confirmation from the team.

Jones, who is listed at 6-foot-1, 240 pounds, played four season with the New York Giants before spending the past three with the Eagles. In Philadelphia, he was considered a disappointment after his combined tackle and assist totals fell into the 70s during each of his three seasons there, down from a career high of 120 during his last season in New York.

He played in all 16 regular season games in 2006 and was credited with 55 tackles and 21 assists, as well as half a sack.
He played for Payton in NY.. Still adding much needed depth to our D..

Dhani Jones designs his own bowties
