That's just kind of what I see in this situation. The players-only meeting a couple months before the end of the season was one where Reggie claimed they were calling out some people on whether or not their hearts were in it. And shortly after, Richardson lost his starting position for good. |
Hmm. I don't mind the McFadden signing for Dallas. I'd still like to see them see if they can get a good RB relatively early in the draft but I'm interested in seeing what McFadden can do outside of Oakland and behind an offensive line that's gonna give him every opportunity to live up to his potential. If he does, he's gonna be great and they'll have successfully replaced Murray for half the price. If he doesn't, they didn't invest too much in him anyway.
I think Dallas fully intends on getting a true starter still. The DMac move is good for them. Decent-ish upside with little risk involved.
DMac was a good signing as a back who will get a third to half the carries for the team. Will allow for a young RB to not take every carry.
Mike Wallace traded to Vikings
9ers get Reggie Bush. Not exactly inspiring confidence but not the worst grab.
Ron Parker back to Kansas City, Darian Stewart to Denver
Shit, Giants have absolutely whiffed on the safety position this offseason. Better hope Stevie Brown can turn back the clock to 2012. |
9ers getting some life back into them. Big fan of Reggie Bush.
lol
I was most afraid that they would sign Deangelo Williams. That bullet got dodged, at least.
If the Giants didn't get Shane Vereen, they'd be all over DeAngelo Williams
Tim Tebow working out for the Eagles today.
Tebow's music could hit in Philly, what could this mean King?!
jesus christ (literally ha ha ha)
Texans signed Vince Wilfork
They aren't signing Tebow. He's already left town.
Niners lose another one. Chris Borland retires at 24 due to concussion worries...was a 3rd round pick last year.
Also led the team in tackles last year.
WTF/lol Niners. |
I think cases like Borland's are going to be a lot more common in the coming years. Must've been a tough decision but good on him for looking out for his health

Bringing in Tebow on 3:16... Chip Kelly trollin'

Raiders sign Trent Richardson. He'll compete for the starting RB spot with Latavius Murray.
Typical Raiders move. |
Awful signing. $3.9M for 2 years.
It's like they just don't want Latavius Murray to succeed |
Hope Murray lands that starting spot. Picked him up late last year in fantasy and he had a breakout game against the Chiefs before he got hurt.
Love how the Raiders have become cartoonish parodies of themselves.
Love how the Niners have become cartoonish parodies of a football team.
That's adorable. Your team is finally relevant and you are lashing out. Look at you go.
Some of this niner's business won't be as bad as it seems but losing Borland made it far worse. He was one of the things to look forward to. As it stands, offense MIGHT come together but defense is going to have some gaping holes unless they are properly addressed in the draft
DaveWadding, did you know that the Arizona Cardinals are the only NFC west team not to win a Superbowl? Let's talk about this at length. Minimum 9 paragraphs
The last over/under total I saw still had 49ers at 8.5 over/under for wins... not exactly lighting up the league but Vegas isn't predicting a total dumpster fire either
I have a feeling that they will struggle to get 8 wins. Hope I'm wrong.
Colt McCoy re-signs with the Redskins on a 1-year deal. So that's him, Robert Griffin the Third, and Kirk Cousins all competing for the starting QB spot. Another fun offseason in D.C.
Chargers sign Stevie Johnson to a 3-year deal. |
Vernon Davis retires
Okay just kidding on that one.
Seriously though I don't think the Niners will be totally awful. I don't see them being a playoff team but it's not like they're on the clock with the top pick in 2016. |
Niners get the shaft because they are in the same division with Seattle and Arizona. St. Louis is not a scrub team either.
Love Colt McCoy for some reason. Hope he does well.
According to SBNation, Eagles considering signing Tim Tebow if they manage to trade Matt Barkley away. Would get around a late round draft pick as the basis for the trade.

Also, the San Francisco 49ers never won a Super Bowl without Joe Montana, Steve Young, or Jerry Rice. Their last Super Bowl win was 20 fucking years ago. |
Greg Hardy to Dallas. 1 year, incentive laden deal for up to 13.1 mil, no guaranteed money. Dallas making a lot of relatively safe moves with a lot of upside. I'm not sure how contracts like this work against the salary cap though so a one year deal "potentially" worth that much money seems high considering how strapped for cash they are.
Also the Colts made a proposal to the Rules Committee for the possibility of 9 pt plays with the addition of a bonus 50 yard PAT if teams successfully go for a 2 pt conversion after a touchdown.
Seems really unnecessary and should just tack on the extra point to 50+ yard field goals like in the CFL.
Harvin to the Bills fo' realzies
The shit has hit the fan for 2nd place in the AFC East.

I love that Rex Ryan will go down in history as the hundhunter of Bill Belichick. He also plays them so hard. Even this season. It's like when the Ravens play the Steelers.
Those Bills/Pats games will probably be insane. |

Still a ridiculous argument.
so dynasties don't count basically. It only counts/you only have history if you win the Super Bowl once a decade.
I'm not denying that it's a ridiculous argument. I just don't think "my team won a lot 20 years ago" holds weight as a reason to act like your team is superior.
They were also one of the best teams in the league for the last 4 years (give or take a year) and went to a Superbowl.
Get off me, broh. |
Anything in the past is stupid to brag about IMO. Only time it should be allowed is bragging about last season during the offseason. Once the new season starts who gives a shirt. You either suck or don't. If you suck then go enjoy watching games from 1980 but no one else cares.
Allowed, you say. I'll be sure to check in with the word police the next time I want to talk about the 49ers.
Thanks.

Besides Raiders and Chargers possibly sharing a stadium in LA if both move, Rams owner also working on having a stadium in LA to be shared by two teams. Unlike Raiders and Chargers, his plan doesn't require a 2nd team in case nobody is willing to move.

The Browns are the favorites to be the Hard Knocks team this year.
Hardly surprising. They were always going to be on that show within a year or two of drafting Manziel. |
Darren Sharper pled no contest to rape allegations in Arizona and was sentenced to 9 years in prison. Louisiana sentenced him to 20 years. Still two more states to decide on his plea deal.
He can serve all of his sentences concurrently but he'll be locked up for at least 20 years. Good riddance. |
Good news for you fans with teams who suffer TV blackouts, NFL is suspending the Blackout rule for the 2015 season.
Maybe if they lowered ticket prices more people would go.
Browns have done great in free agency! Pick ups like Brian Hartline, Dwayne Bowe, and Tramon Williams make this an easy favorite for AFC NORTH. Losing Buster Skrine is not good though

NFL announced the compensatory picks for the 2015 draft, the Cardinals get to select this year's Mr. Irrelevant.
The NFL has never revealed the formula used to decide on comp picks but it relates to players lost in the previous year's free agency. The Pats got an extra 3rd round pick largely due to losing Aqib Talib. Also funny is seeing the Bengals get a 3rd rounder mostly due to losing Michael Johnson, who they already got back. Nice job Bucs. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CA06fQ1U8AA7_PW.png |
Instead of making a "football move," receivers must now "establish themselves as runners" to complete catches.
After review with this new wording, the Dez Bryant play is still not a catch. |
So, now, when someone catches the ball with 2 feet in bound but then gets hit out of bounds is it not a catch? Because they never established themselves to be runners?

Jags/Bills game in London only going to be streamed on a site to be named. Won't be on TV at all.
That kind of sucks. I enjoyed the extra game. Gave a little excitement in the morning.
Of course I will just stream it and put it on the television.

Does the ball hit the ground?
To his point, suppose it doesn't hit the ground. The receiver could not "establish himself as a runner" if he was diving to catch the ball.
The ability to dive and maintain control of the ball would be enough to establish himself as a "runner." You are all being to literal with the phrase runner.
If referees can barely decide what a "football move" is, I don't think it's a stretch to say there will be issues figuring out who is a "runner."

Of all the ginormous clusterfuck that the "NFL Experience in London(g)!" has been, one of the few ACTUALLY COOL things about it was being able to watch a 9am game on that Sunday or whatever. So they're getting rid of that? |
I think they're testing to see how many people actually bother to stream a 9 AM game in America, and they picked this game cause the Jags suck and the Bills, while intriguing, don't have a huge following.
Basically if a ton of people still get up and go out of their way to stream THAT game, it will just give the NFL even more revenue streams going forward because it'll mean people will still stream anything to get their NFL fix. |
I liked having the 9am game on because it ended during my show and I could give live updates lol
No more lining up ineligible receivers like the Patriots did vs the Ravens.
John Harbaugh is an asshole. He can't understand a rule, he bitches and now it's illegal. Suck a dick.

Shut up

NFL preparing rule changes for the extra point process starting as early as this season. Suppossed to be the main topic of debates during the next meeting in May.
Considering the amount of teams being investigated this season, NFL hinted the first batch of punishments are going to be handed out soon. Both the Browns and Falcons are expected to get hit with "severe" penalties. |
I didn't mind the pre season games where they moved it back bit I have also heard they are thinking about moving it up to encourage teams to go for two more often.
The only people who will hate doing away with extra points is sports books since it messes with how they calculate spreads and especially totals.
It's stupid to get rid of PATs. Quit trying to reinvent the fucking wheel.
Yeah, I kinda hate any proposed rule change that directly changes how points are scored.
Still think the CFL-style of an extra point for 50+ yd FGs would be the best. Makes longer FGs more exciting, wouldn't mess up scoring in a weird way like what the Colts suggested or by removing PATs, and just moving PATs back a few yards would still make them "boring."
Just leave it the way it is. IF YOU MUST CHANGE IT then just get rid of the PAT and make everyone go for 2.
Just make every touchdown 7 #backyard
I was always a big proponent of defending the extra point but at this point it's a total formality. You have to try really hard to screw it up.
I wouldn't mind the NFL Blitz rule: touchdown is worth 7 points by default. If you want to go for an 8th point, you put a point at risk. If you make it, 8 points. If you don't, 6 points. Pretty simple and keeps strategies basically the same with respect to the current game. The worst thing they could possibly do would be to force everybody to go for 2 no matter what. A 2-point conversion attempt is basically a 50/50 play, it'd be terrible to dramatically swing the game on what amounts to total luck. You may as well just flip a coin at that point. |
Plus a "real play" has higher injury risk, which I'd think the league would want to avoid.
Yea if they want to change it the best thing to do us move it back about 10 yards to make them less automatic. And it give the offence more room to run a pass play.
10 yards is still a chip shot.
If the ball is on the 13 it makes about a 30 yard field goal.
We should just give the team the ball at their 20 and tell them they get 3 plays to get into the end zone again. We can award them 1 point if it takes 3 plays, 2 points if it takes 2 plays, and a holy OMG 3 points if it takes 1 play. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Seriously, the game is just fine as it is. It is called a EXTRA POINT for a reason. It is like the reward for getting a touchdown instead of doing 2 field goals. |
