Hell yeah Rondel White

Ruby 07-20-2006 01:16 AM

Hillenbrand has got talent and is a valuable bat, but he's got real problem when he's around for more than a year or so with a team. It's too bad for the Jays that they couldn't move him before all this came out. I heard he went straight to the media after claiming to be singled out by the manager.

YOUR Hero 07-20-2006 01:56 AM

Hopefully the Jays can get something for Hillenbrand.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-20-2006 02:00 AM

I'd imagine they'd be able to, since this isn't the "usual" designated for assignment type player.

Adder 07-20-2006 11:23 AM

There's a chance teams might wait out the 10 days and pick him up for nothing. Hopefully not, as a Jays fan, I'd like to see them get something in return.

FakeLaser 07-20-2006 01:48 PM

They'll get a single A prospect MAYBE. His contract is up at the end of the season, why would anyone want to give up anything decent for a 2 month rental of a corner infielder who hasn't hit more than 18 homers in a season?

BCWWF 07-20-2006 02:05 PM

I'd think a lot of teams would pick him up in a heartbeat, but it doesn't look like he is going to be traded. Thats too bad for Toronto. Although we are in the same boat right now, the edge of the wildcard race, I'd like to see Toronto have some success come out of this season. Maybe finish second ahead of the Yankees or something.

Dazz 07-20-2006 02:24 PM

Seriously, how good is baseball, was in Toronto on the weekend, and went to the <s>Rogers</s> SkyDome for the games on Saturday and Sunday. Wasn't overly impressed to start with but the more innings that went on the better, even I was getting pretty tense in the extra innings and there were five of the bastards on Saturday. We left on Monday night, so I couldn't go to the game then, got home and found out that the Blue Jays hit a grand slam, good old Vernan Wells.

Might start posting here now, Baseball is the shit, well wanna go again, much cheaper then football too, costs me about $90 Canadian for a Chelsea game and $9 for Blue Jays, and the view is immense.

GO JAYS GO

Got me a tee-shirt with Glaus on it too,

SWEEEEEEEEET CAROLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE

OssMan 07-20-2006 03:14 PM

they play sweet caroline at other parks? i thought that was just a red sox thing, i guess everyone wants to be the red sox though.

Joey Slugs 07-20-2006 03:14 PM

I was thinking the same thing.

Dazz 07-20-2006 03:17 PM

I hope you are not taking the piss you shit. The SkyDome is half full, people leave before the extra innings, no one sings unless the words come up, and you can but tickets on the day with a massive range, unless they play a good team then everyone goes. Pretty sure most of the fans aren't that good.

Anyways, load the bases. See, I picked up the termanology already. And Well's steals a base. Easy picking up this lark, pretty sure I know most of the rules except the infield fly one.

OssMan 07-20-2006 03:19 PM

WTF are you talking about

They even have the words on the screen, proper Kareoke style.

Stadium is immense, I wanted to see them move it around for the Yankee football but there was obvious no reason too, roof was pretty impressive too. As is the idea of bring your dog day.

Gertner 07-20-2006 03:20 PM

what a little bitch. I'm glad his sorry ass in gone

Yeah I didn't think other teams did that, that is pretty gay.

Me and my buddy went to a game like 2 weeks ago and we were like "I wonder what the players from the Phillies think when they come to Fenway and have no idea what this all about..they are probably like 'what the fuck' when the whole crowd starts singing sweet caroline"

OssMan 07-20-2006 04:13 PM

Braves get:
P Bob Wickman

Cleveland gets:
C Maximiliano Ramirez (A)

lol

Figured I'd re-post this since it got past up cuz I wrote about like 3 other things in the same post.

Loose Cannon 07-20-2006 05:17 PM

not MLB, but went to another Charlotte Knights game last night and they played the Clippers (Yankees system) So it was cool seeing a few of thier prospects. Caught a foul ball too.

Slugs: look for a Ryan Sweeny to maybe get called up soon for your Sox. Every game I've went to, he's done good and is like thier top prospect in position players.

Charlotte has the best record in the entire minor league system. Good team to go see.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to seeing Ryan come up here and play in the show. Everything I have heard and seen of him so far is all positive.

Speaking of the White Sox system, and as much as I love our pitching staff right now, I really hope to see this rotation one day (with current MLB/MiLB stats):

Brandon McCarthy (R): 3-4/4.11
Heath Phillips (L): 11-3/2.11
Lance Broadway (R): 6-6/2.77
Charlie Haeger (R): 10-3/2.48
Ray Liotta (L): 3-8/4.93

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-20-2006 11:53 PM

Wells with the walk off againest Rivera and the Sox won again today. Push 'em down the AL east standings NUKKAS

YOUR Hero 07-21-2006 12:39 AM

Tonights win by the Jays is just the medicine they needed. It's been a rough week, with come from ahead losses and the Hillenbrand garbage. JP stated he's getting a lot of inquiries about Hillenbrand. Hopefully that's the case.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-21-2006 12:47 AM

I'd just like to point out, using Gertners logic, that the Red Sox have the best pitching staff in the majors. (Beckett and Schilling both have 12 wins)

MVP 07-21-2006 01:47 AM

LOL

Good to see that the race for 1st in AL East is more of a race for 2nd right now between the Yanks and Jays.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-21-2006 01:48 AM

Ahh I dunno about all that. Red Sox just swept the Royals, not the Tigers.

MVP 07-21-2006 02:44 AM

Well just at the moment cause the Yankees and Jays are in a series and the Sox and Jays both won.

Gertner 07-21-2006 03:02 AM

Big win for my jays:)

Wells owns you

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-21-2006 02:33 PM

Baseball Tonight is rumoring a trade, Mike Lowell for Jake Peavy. Why would the Red Sox do this trade? Peavy's career ERA is high 3's and one season was actually 4.01. If he came over to the American League you are looking at like a 4.50 ERA (atleast)

This better just be some bullshit put out by the media or something, I really hope this doesn't happen. Why hurt the best defense in the league for some average pitcher? They won the World Series in '04 with sick D and thats how they are leading in the AL East right now. Have they not watched any Yankees games this year? How many A-Rod errors have led to loses?

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-21-2006 02:38 PM

-EDIT was reading the wrong statline

lol some faggot even suggested moving Youk to thrid after this trade (which would happen) but then going out and picking up Millar to replace Youk at 1st base. wow

MVP 07-21-2006 03:37 PM

I know I wanna trade our gold glove, .300 hitting 3rd baseman for a pitcher who has a losing record on a winning team.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-21-2006 03:57 PM

I am actaully wrong, I was reading the wrong stat line. He has a career ERA of 3.33

and in 2004 had an ERA of 2.27 then in 2005 had an ERA of 2.88. San Diego definetly isn't going to make this trade though.

After seeing this I'd definetly make this trade, they could call up Pedoria if they did.

ct2k 07-21-2006 04:37 PM

Man, if the Yankees had had any kind of a decent start this season we'd be top of the East right now, fucktwats

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-21-2006 04:51 PM

I remember when this season started somebody (cant remember who) on this board claimed that A-Rod was better defensively than Lowell or that MAYBE it was a wash.

ct2k 07-21-2006 04:55 PM

A-Rod clearly isn't in our line-up for his defense

Dragon 07-21-2006 07:04 PM

Yeah, I would trade Peavy for Lowell in a minute. He's struggling a bit this year but he's only 25. Granted, his numbers will fall off a bit in the AL but that seems like a good deal.

Adder 07-21-2006 07:39 PM

Peavey is one of the better pitchers. Period. He's the kind of guy you trade Manny Ramirez for. San Diego could do way better than that in terms of a return. Abreu or Wells jump to mind.

ct2k 07-21-2006 07:40 PM

I'd take Wells over Abreu and Lowell.

Adder 07-21-2006 07:41 PM

BTW, if you take a look at ERA all over the place, they are climbing year after year after year. Besides smaller ballparks in general, there are several debatable reasons for this.

Adder 07-21-2006 07:43 PM

I still think the Jays are crazy to consider moving Wells, but that's being suggested ever so quietly. If I'm JP, I sign him to a fat multi-year deal, just like he did for Glauss or AJ. I'm pretty sure there's a bit of friction between those two, but still, you got to get past that as a GM and lock a guy like that up.
