Heros Welcome 08-08-2009 02:17 AM

LOL! God these Mets are a joke.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-08-2009 02:19 AM

lol just said on ESPN A-Rod is a "True Yankee" now, shut the fuck up seriously. This true Yankee stuff is so retarded, he is the best player on the team.

Plus I'm pretty sure he's already hit a walk off home run against the Red Sox. I know for a fact he's at least hit a homer off of Papelbon in the top of the 9th at Fenway to put the Yankees a head.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-08-2009 02:20 AM

Also on ESPN they played both local announcers when A-Rod hit the homer back to back. Just made the Yankee's guy sound so much more ridiculous, he is like a cartoon or something. AN A-BOMB FOR A-ROD! THE NIGHT THAT TURNED INTO EARLY MORNING!

I would like to request the Rockies be moved to the NL central

Supreme Olajuwon 08-08-2009 03:43 AM

Woo the Reds score 10 runs in a game for the first time since May 13. And it came in a game with Lincecum pitching.

Skippord 08-08-2009 05:08 AM

also woo the Reds beat the Giants

:wtf: Uh....no. I'm included in the group that can't stand him as well.

And FYI, that was Junichi Tazawa that was on the hill for Boston. Poor bastard got called up from AAA yesterday.

Triple Naitch 08-08-2009 10:10 AM

John Sterling is so much worse than Michael Kay.

A.J. Burnett may be the worst pie assassin in baseball. He barely got A-Rod's ear.

So I walked away from baseball here in the last little bit as I have been realbusy and the Jays are killing my soul. So.

So...

So I find out today they traded Rolen to Cincy?

WTF?

Why did Cincy want him? What did the Jays get? Was it Encarnationne (sp?) ... is that it?... was there more to the deal??

Don't quite get it. Does Cincy have a chance this year?

Hmmm.

And the Jays put Rios on waivers, he was claimed and the Jays poulled him off. OK. Um... They just went through a big deal of signing him to a 64+ million dollar 6 year deal and they are fishing him? .... any idea who claimed him? Rios is a bit of a headcase. Can be very unfocused, but I would still say he has a lot of upside.

BAh. Whatever. JP is a goof, imho.

Sucks he gave up that HR to A-Rod but I mean he did do pretty well the inning before when they put him in during the 14th. He struck out Texeria with a running in score position among other things. I'll admit I never really heard of this guy before last night but some of my friends where saying they have been waiting for his debut so maybe he will stick around for a while.

They probably just put Rios on waivers hoping he would clear them, that way they could have some options later on in the season. It happens to tons of players, I heard the Yankees put Cano on waivers, and I'm sure if anyone made a claim on Cano they would just pull him off. I doubt the Yankees plan on trading Cano later on this month but it just gives them some options when he does clear them.

Innovator 08-08-2009 05:57 PM

Bard was pretty impressive last night for the little I saw of him, if he can control his fastball he'll be a solid closer

Innovator 08-08-2009 05:58 PM

And honestly someone needs to feed these Red Sox farm guys, Buckholz and Bard look like they haven't eaten in a week

Clear them and then what? Put him in AAA?

I don't think so.

They did it to see if there was interest for him. Like I said, all that investment in himand celebration just a year ago and already looking to move him? Makes little sense.

Anywayz.

Don't understand the Rolen move. Unless it was Rolen wanting to move. Neither team is going anywhere and Rolen is a way better defensive 3B not to mention he's hitting really good (albeit not with much power) this year.

Odd moves by the Jays, from my perspective.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-08-2009 06:12 PM

No I think if they clear waivers then they can just trade them to whoever without the waiver process coming into play.

So say if they put Rios on waivers, he clears them, they are now free to trade him to whoever they want. With the waiver process I think another team can make a claim on a guy and screw up a potential trade or something - to be honest I'm not 100% sure (obviously) but I think it's something like that.

Basically putting a player on waivers isn't a big deal, if the player clears them (most do) it just gives the team an option for trades for the rest of the month.

YOUR Hero 08-08-2009 06:32 PM

But that's just it. The Jays made sucha big deal in his long term signing. Now they want to trade him off? He's not doing anything different this year than what got him the big contract. Except a bit of a lower batting avg.
Maybe they (Jays) finally see he's peaked and the potential isn't there anymore and they are hoping others haven't figured it out yet.

Rios' yearly #'s have never been all that impressive but yet he's raved upon. I'm not calling him a scrub, I like him well enough, but people seem to think he's a 35/35 guy. Don't know why.

Last 3 years, including this year.

YOUR Hero 08-08-2009 06:35 PM

I see the A's released Giambi.

Wonder if anyone else will pick him up for a playoff run. Is he still on the DL?

LOL. Jays were considering him at the start of the year. Jays gotta do something about Overbay. He's not good enough production wise.

ClockShot 08-08-2009 06:39 PM

Speaking of the Blue Jays, word going around is that the White Sox claimed Alex Rios.

Think they'll pick him up?

YOUR Hero 08-08-2009 06:47 PM

Wonder what the trade would be? Their SS (Ramirez?) has that potential. Not like Scutaro will be a fixture past this year. Dunno what the WSOX would think about moving him.

YOUR Hero 08-08-2009 07:23 PM

So I went looking for some older news on the Rolen tradeto Cincy. The JAys also picked up 2 pitching prospects. That makes the deal make more sense, but I wonder just who these prospects are. - as in the chances of them actually ever doing anything.

It just gives them some options, like I mentioned I heard the Yankees put Cano through waivers - 0.1% chance of the Yankees moving Cano - but just makes some options.

Also if a team claims Rios they are also claiming his huge contract, so maybe the Jays regret their decision with that?

So Peavy is a WSOX now? Wow, missed that. If he gets back healthy. wow wow wow.

Evil Vito 08-09-2009 02:10 PM

Looking forward towards the offseason. Looks pretty bleak for the Mets tbh. Despite having a shitload coming off the payroll even when you account for the raises that guys like Santana and Wright are getting in their contracts, its being said there might only be around $20 million to spend and that they will need to have a smaller payroll than this year. Madoff is forcing the Wilpons to stay on a budget.

They are going to need a big bat. I was always against getting Holliday because his numbers would go way down outside of Coors, but he's been insane ever since he came back to the NL. Cards are hoping to re-sign him though. And with Damon/Matsui coming off the books, you can bet the Yankees will be a big player to sign him...especially if their offense falls short in the playoffs or something. Plus getting Holliday will cost the Mets a first rounder and I think they need all the draft picks they can get at this point.

Gonna need a starting pitcher too, but most of the really good potential FA starters have options that will certainly be exercised (Beckett, Lee, etc.) Probably gonna come by the way of a trade if they can get anything. Not that they have much to trade.

FIRE OMAR! :shifty:
