Like the Malcom Brown pick by the Pats.
Pick was spoiled really early by SB Nation. The one time ESPN decides to not spoil the picks on Twitter, someone else pulls an "ESPN" instead. |

While the draft was going on, 49ers announced for the 1st time in team history, they won't just be wearing their classic jerseys during next season.

Great. I wake up and find my Broncos traded up to draft the other headcase of the draft in Shane Ray.
I hope Elway knows what he's doing. |
Owenbrown, how do you feel about the Titans drafting Mariotto?
|
Lol oh I how I love my Patriots

<font color=goldenrod>Nope. I'd be very surprised if he got picked today either. Probably a late round flyer if anything.</font>

Poor kid.

<font color=goldenrod>As a whole I'd say 3/4th of the NFC East had a good first round.
Washington taking Scherff at #5 overall might be a bit early but the Jets, Bears, and Falcons all were rumored to have interest in him and the Giants definitely wanted him at #9 so trading back would have meant losing him. They had no real choice but to take him when they did. Probably will wind up as a guard long-term so there's risk but he's NFL ready right out of the gate. Made my opinions on Flowers already known but it fills a huge need and he should slot in at RT right away. Pugh nearly got Eli killed against the Eagles last year so moving Pugh in to RG makes sense. Again #9 may have been a slight reach but the Rams supposedly coveted him and in general teams seemed hesitant to trade up this year. The Eagles' pick was the only WTF one in the division. I mean it makes sense to get a replacement for Maclin and the guy is practically a clone of him, but he won't be as good as Maclin right out of the gate. Probably a lateral move for them at best.</font> |
Love the new 9ers uniform. Fuck tradition, this is the present.
|
Helmets looks a little goofy though.
|
Al Davis is cursing in his grave. He felt the Raiders should be the only team wearing black, and now with the 49ers wearing black would have pissed him off.
|
If the rumors are true about what The Eagles offered the Bucs and Titans how did they not take them?
Bucs and or Titans would have won that trade probably. |
Apparently for the past couple of years Bill Belichick 1st round draft picks have been based on players cartoon watching habits. Did it for Dominique Easley last year and Malcom Brown this year. Both prefer to watch a bunch of cartoons than football games on tv.

<font color=goldenrod>Oh shit, Giants jump up to #33</font>

Landon Collins

Way to long of a time clock
|
<font color=goldenrod>WOOOOOO Landon Collins!</font>

Not basing it on this pick but I think Giants win the division

<font color=goldenrod>Top needs entering draft: OL and safety

15 minutes in and theirs only 1 pick. Its like they try to make this as unwatchable as possible.

In Reese We Trust

I hope the Colts have Jeff George representing them.

<font color=goldenrod>LOL the Panthers badly need a OT, trade up 15 or so spots with 2 good OTs on the board only to draft Devin fuckin Funchess</font>
|
Gregory still dropping. Hope Cowboys get him

This is the first time I can recall where Tampa Bay has actually made an effort to have a quarterback instead of just hiring some half assed free agent. I guess they tried some with Josh Freeman but even that felt like an afterthought. I can't think of another franchise that has held the quarterback position with less regard over the years than they havel.

<font color=goldenrod>Kinda like that the Giants are sticking with the "big school" guys this year for some reason. Miami, Alabama, UCLA, and now Texas.
Still 2 picks left for them to take the annual BC or Syracuse player though.</font> |
<font color=goldenrod>Zac Stacy traded to the Jets for a 7th rounder</font>
|
That's actually not a bad trade for Gang Green...........for once.
Stacy wanted out of St. Louis the second Todd Gurley got drafted, and the Jets got a runningback they can work with. |
<font color=goldenrod>Alright, quick thoughts on the Giants draft now that everything is in the books:
Round 1: Ereck Flowers, OT, Miami: Made most of my thoughts clear on Thursday but I love the pick. O-line was a far more pressing need than D-line. Should slot right in at RT, allowing Pugh to move to RG. Huge dude, 6'6" 330 lb and could be groomed as Beatty's eventual successor at LT. The footage I've seen suggests he's especially good in run blocking, which is huge as the Giants had a largely shit run game last year due to bad blocking. Round 2: Landon Collins, S, Alabama: Safety was the biggest need going in but #9 would have been way too high for Collins. He wouldn't have been left at pick #40 so I'm glad they traded up. Reese is usually pretty gun-shy about making trades during the draft so I like them going the extra mile to get a guy they really wanted. Hard-hitting, physical play and Another guy who should slot right in to a starting role. I've seen some forecast him as someone with very real bust potential but I'm pretty sure people say that about every Bama defensive player no matter what. Round 3, Owamagbe Odighizuwa, DE, UCLA: I don't need to see any more than his name to know I like him. Oh-diggy-zoo-wah. Badass. Anyway he was a force at stopping the run, which was another big Giants weakness last year. He's had some issues rushing the passer but he's going to a defensive scheme that will teach him up on that fairly quickly as they are known to throw 3 or 4 DEs on the field on passing downs. Thinking about it, Spags will now have JPP, Ayers, Selvie, Moore, and O-Squared to work with at the DE position. Can't wait to see what he comes up with. Round 5, Mykkele Thompson, S, Texas: During these late rounds I try to flip the draft on when the Giants are about to pick because the networks are good at showing highlight tape for most guys. Neither network showed one second on this guy. Evidently he was universally ranked as someone who was going to go undrafted and the Giants were the only team to bring him in for a pre-draft visit. I know it's the 5th round but it sounds like they could have gotten better value at this spot and signed him right after the draft. From what I've read he sounds like he has good speed and is a versatile guy who can play any DB spot, so at least he fills a need. Round 6, Geremy Davis, WR, UConn: As a UConn fan I'm happy to see him get picked. He was a team captain, has great hands, and had a really nice collegiate career for himself considering the jobbers he had throwing to him. He's pretty slow though, and WR is a pretty busy spot for the Giants as is. I wonder if maybe they want Davis to bulk up in preseason and potentially be converted to TE. That could work, especially with Donnell having the drops at times last year. Round 7, Bobby Hart, OT, Florida State: Don't know a whole lot about this guy but you could have a worse dice-roll than a guy who was a starting lineman on a National Title-winning team. Giants usually keep 9 or 10 OL on the roster so whatever, never hurts to have an extra body competing for a job in preseason. Pretty tough to judge a draft until at least 3 years have passed but as far as first impressions I like this class. 2 starters out of the gate and an intriguing DE prospect in the first 3 rounds. Anything they get out of the last 3 guys is probably gravy.</font> |
Zac Stacy is better than most 7th round picks ever... So... Good for the Jets.

NFL to announce punishments within the next few days with Brady likely getting the harshest. Like the Pats, no smoking gun evidence against him but he did provide the least stuff for the investigation. NFL wanted a lot of personal stuff from him which he refused or gave very little. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Screenshots of Wells' report outlining text exchanges between McNally & Jastremski about Brady: <a href="http://t.co/MCR4YoDbmD">pic.twitter.com/MCR4YoDbmD</a></p>— Jeff Darlington (@JeffDarlington) <a href="https://twitter.com/JeffDarlington/status/596000916328849408">May 6, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Quote:

<font color=goldenrod>If Brady gets the harshest punishment, the punishments won't be much at all. He'll get a fine of some sort at most.
There is zero chance that Brady is getting a suspension. Especially not with the Pats being in the first game of the season in a nationally televised game.</font> |
How much of a bonus does each player get for winning the Superbowl? He will probably get fined that.

Either way, can't wait for the Colts to smash the Pats in the face this year.
|
No idea why the Colts were so low on those power rankings that came out. They obtained way more talent than they already had (R.I.P Wayne) and the Pats lost Revis. Hell, we are still below Denver. Can't wait to smash them in the face too.

lol there is a 0% chance that Tom Brady gets suspended

Not this year. Colts got better and the Pats got worse. It's finally time for the Pats to take a backseat to another team.
|
<font color=goldenrod>Pretty clear Brady was aware what was going on, but he won't be suspended A) because he's a star player and B) because there is no hard evidence that he was involved.
Of course, the hard evidence they were looking for were Brady's texts, which he refused to give. Why refuse if there's nothing to hide? Doesn't matter though, Pats will scream bloody murder if they give anything more than a fine.</font> |
<font color=goldenrod>Also, as Simmons would say...this will almost certainly put Belichick and the Pats into FU mode all next year.</font>
|
I'm sure there's a witty comment to be made on the correlation of Pats not having hard evidence and Aaron Hernandez' trial etc
|
<font color=goldenrod>Simmons was extremely confident in his pre-draft podcast last week, and I can't say I blame him. The Pats aren't perfect but who else in the AFC looks like a super serious threat?
Broncos lost one of their top weapons and are relying on Peyton's health to cooperate all year. Colts are pretty much a one-man team with a terrible GM who just happened to fall ass-backwards into the best QB prospect since Peyton. Ravens and Steelers are usually always decent but almost never have the "oh shit" factor where you absolutely dread facing them. The Bengals don't seem to realize that football extends beyond wild card weekend. The rest of the AFC East seemed to get better but each team individually has a lot of question marks still. A lot can happen between now and September but for now I'd tend to agree with Simmons' assessment that the Pats still feel like the most formidable team. The FU mode soon to come only makes them seem more enticing.</font> |
Avatar bet says Brady gets suspended.
|
Cowboys signed La'el Collins to a 3 year, $1.65 million deal.
Hasn't been completely cleared from the on-going murder case though. Him passing the polygraph test and paternity test results being negative were enough for NFL teams to go ahead for signing him. |
Glad he got a spot on a team. Hate that he is with the HardyBoys.
|
The rules about undrafted players made it easier for the Cowboys to snag him. He only bothered to travel to Dallas since it was closer to where he lived while Bills and Dolphins could only send feelers to see if he'd be interested in traveling to their places. By the time they'd get a response, he already had a deal in place with the Cowboys.
|
<font color=goldenrod>So between signing Collins and getting Gregory late in the 2nd round, Cowboys pretty much got 3 first-round quality guys in the last week. I've heard Collins has gotten into it with his coaches at LSU and was occasionally ripped for being lazy...but it's worth a shot.
RB may be a huge question mark for Dallas but with that O-line it may not matter quite as much.</font> |
It will matter when your RB is McFadden.
|
This feels weird. Its the first year I hated the Cowboys (For signing Hardy but ESPECIALLY for getting rid of Murray). Feels so wrong to hope the Eagles do well.
|
<font color=goldenrod>LT Tyron Smith
LG Zack Martin C Travis Frederick RG La'el Collins RT Doug Free 79-year old Jim Brown could probably put up 1,000 yards behind that line. And that's coming from someone who loathes the Cowboys.</font> |
Jesus. Dallas seems to be taking every chance that is out there to take with their signings this year. Still wish they'd have gone one more and taken Ajayi but I'm not nearly as down on the running game as most Cowboys fans seem to be. McFadden could have a bit of a rebirth on an offense with a great o-line and a passing threat to help him out. And even if he's just average, Joseph Randle looked great last year spelling Murray. Also, hopefully they can not fumble seemingly every game like Murray did, so there's that plus side.
|
Tom Brady 4 game suspension. That's my prediction.
|
CBS Sports is trying to suggest it'll be a year. If there is a punishment I'd say it'll be like fine in the 100k-250k range.
|
No bet though Goddell is way too much of a bipolar asshole to predict his whims.
|
As A Ravens fan I'd like to remind everyone that it was Harbaugh who tipped off the Colts about the deflated balls because they did it in the game vs the Ravens, which means they deflated balls in two games. It wasn't some sort of one off happening and for all anyone knows they could have been doing it at every home game, and I'm sure if somebody dug deeper they might find that out
|
I am sure if the NFL sent a probe on every team they would find every team cheated in some shape or form.
|
Besides the Colts of course because Luck won't tolerate any cheating.
|
|
4 games for Brady seems about right.
Also the Collins signing got me so pumped for the start of the season , Cowboys line is just plain filthy. Too bad we don't have a big pounding back to wear out the defense even more. |
how does 4 games seem right... still blowing my mind that this is even remotely a thing at all
has the world collectively lost its damn mind |

<font color=goldenrod>Supposedly Goodell is letting Troy Vincent be the one to publicly decide on the punishment, which makes it even more clear to me that it'll be a light one. Goodell is known to be super tight with Kraft, so a light punishment would draw accustations of favoritism.
So he'll just have Vincent be the one to make the "decision" even though it's probably coming from Goodell anyway.</font> |
<font color=goldenrod>Also CBS Sports thinking Brady will be suspended for a year is hysterical. You can't even get suspended for a year for killing somebody.
Besides, Pats fans would be insufferable if they lost Brady for a year and didn't make the playoffs. It'd be 2008 all over again. "Nope, we didn't have Brady, doesn't count."</font> |
<font color=goldenrod>Dante Fowler tears his ACL at rookie minicamp. Out for the season.
Jaguars will never not be cursed.</font> |
Quote:
It'd be funny if it came down on Bellichick |
Report made it clear its only Brady and the two ball guys who are getting any sort of punishment.
Everyone else got cleared in the investigation. If Goodell were to punish more people, he'd be doing it with less evidence than he has against Brady. Probably would also need to punish the Colts as well since they also had deflated balls. |
