not really actually, not surprised they lost

Chacin making his first major league start was bound to be bad

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-12-2009 02:45 AM

Youk was a bitch that take down, damn - pitcher was running away too.

Whatever though at least they won, going tomorrow night

RP 08-12-2009 09:13 AM

lol Youkilis getting owned.

he threw like a girl too.

YOUR Hero 08-12-2009 10:56 AM

Porcello looked like he was going to cry. But them BAM. Walker, Texas Ranger style.

...well OK no, but he sure made up for what was a bad appearance.

Jeritron 08-12-2009 11:47 AM

It was a missed tackle. I don't think Porcello really did anything. Sometimes the person who goes for a take down ends up on the ground first

Gertner 08-12-2009 12:52 PM

Jesse Carlson needs to be designated. Fuck is he awful

lol come on, Youk tossed his helmet at him and then blew it on the tackle. Why was he trying to tackle him anyway? He should have come in throwing blows like Coco Crisp

Yeah, and who does the ump toss, instead of just Youk, like it should have been? Youk and Porcello BOTH, and I will guarantee beyond a shadow of a doubt that's what cost my boys their game last night, and subsequently allowed the White Sox, with their victory last night, to scoot closer to us in the AL Central.:nono:

LOL, if he had done that, he'd've been stretchered off the field instead of walking off.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-12-2009 05:04 PM

Hope we get Detroit and Boston matched up in the ALDS now.

Loose Cannon 08-12-2009 05:16 PM

no, please no

ClockShot 08-12-2009 07:15 PM

All eyes are on Wrigleyville tonight. Pedro returns. I may just tune in and watch this one.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-12-2009 07:20 PM

lol right that'd mean the Yankees get the Angels

Triple Naitch 08-12-2009 07:47 PM

Does anybody else find it pointless when a starting pitcher gets suspended for 5 games? They're really only missing just one game.

ClockShot 08-12-2009 10:09 PM

Mets put Gary Sheffield on waivers and a team actually claims him. Mets pull him back, however.

A. Which team(s) would be interested in him?

2. Why put him out waivers in the first place?

Evil Vito 08-12-2009 11:20 PM

<font color=goldenrod>Nearly every player in the big leagues is put on waivers, just for the hell of it, to gauge potential interest. Claims rarely ever occur though, mostly out of fear that the team could say "okay then, you can have him" like what the White Sox did with Rios. Back in the day the Yankees were forced to take Jose Canseco and his salary even though they only claimed him to keep him away from Boston.

My guess would be a team needing a bat off the bench would have claimed Sheffield. Really not sure why the Mets wanted to keep him other than that they are hoping they can get some sort of miracle run as they still have a ton of games against NL East opponents.

I also read that Manuel would be interested in bringing Sheffield back for 2010...which, as good as he's been this year, if he is on next year's Mets, something has gone drastically wrong. They need to get younger and more athletic.</font>

Triple Naitch 08-12-2009 11:23 PM

Pedro 5 innings, 3 runs, 5 k's, in line for the win.

Boomer 08-12-2009 11:25 PM

While I certainly think the Braves and Marlins will give the Phillies a run for their money, I think the Phillies have done the best they can to make a run throughout the rest of the year.

A. Sheff was having a very good year. his biggest problem was he is playing too much due to alllll of the mets injurys. he started breaking down himself as expected. most contending teams would love to have garys bat coming off the bench.

2. just to see what they could get probably...or they would have let him go but it as a team like the phils or the marlins and the mets didnt want him goin there

they did the same with feliciano

DAMN iNATOR 08-12-2009 11:57 PM

Dammit all, fucking Tigers lost again to the Red Sox (:nono:), and the sad thing is we probably should have won at least one or 2 games in this series already. I hope the fucking White Sox lose and at least allow us our 2 games of breathing room.:(

YOUR Hero 08-13-2009 12:48 AM

Wonder if the Jays put Wells on waivers, if there would be any takers?

the same Angels that the Red Sox steamroll every year in the ALDS? Any team thats worth its playoff salt should have no trouble beating them.

Jeritron 08-13-2009 01:08 AM

They're good again this year, but they always win a shit division and find themselves overwhelmed in the ALDS

Triple Naitch 08-13-2009 01:21 AM

They always seem to have the Yankees' number in the postseason, though.

SammyG 08-13-2009 05:19 AM

God I love Dodgers-Giants baseball

<font color=goldenrod>Vernon has more than likely already cleared. Like I said, teams often put their entire rosters on waivers for the sake of masking their intentions. But in most cases those players will go unclaimed because it's obvious the team doesn't want to trade them and would just pull them back in the event of a claim.

In Vernon's case, he probably cleared because nobody wants that contract. It's unfortunate but he seems like a case of "alright, got my big deal, later guys..."</font>

YOUR Hero 08-13-2009 11:01 AM

The Mets need him.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-13-2009 05:17 PM

Shane Victorino is pressing charges against a Cubs fan who threw beer on him while he was making a catch.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-13-2009 05:18 PM

Is there really any doubt that Cubs fans are just the worst, least classy pieces of shit?

DaveBrawl 08-13-2009 05:31 PM

I want to say Padres fans, but I have yet to find one. :shifty:

<font color=goldenrod>God no. I would have had an interest in Rios, but not Wells.</font>

DaveWadding 08-13-2009 05:42 PM

I would have thrown that beer at Victorino too. I f beer at Wrigley wasn't like 8 bucks a pop.

Ironically, Phillie fans are bigger pieces of shit than Cubs fans.

Triple Naitch 08-13-2009 06:01 PM

They throw batteries at players they don't care for

Jeritron 08-13-2009 06:04 PM

and dirty toilet paper

Triple Naitch 08-13-2009 06:06 PM

That was over 10 years ago. Pretty much every city has piece of shit fans.

Evil Vito 08-13-2009 06:16 PM

<font color=goldenrod>lol the wrong guy got ejected from Wrigley. Watching the video you can clearly see someone else threw the cup. The fans in that area must be douches cause they didn't stick up for him and point out the actual guy...must have been a case of nobody seeing.

And the only Phillies fan in the bleachers threw a peanut on the guy on the way down the stairs.</font>
