It wasn't really the rushing of it that made it shit IMO.

They gave it a good 25 minutes. The reason I think it failed was because:

1. No matter what main evented that evening, it wouldn't of been as hot as Taker/HBK, the crowd were burnt out (see Mania 18, HHH trying to main event after Hogan and Rock stole the show)

2. Hitting both finishers in the first minute destroyed it for me, what else was there for the crowd to pop for? No teasing of it or anything. What are they? Backyarders, it makes no sense that later on they are reversing the finishers after 20 minutes, when they shouldn't have as much about them as they do in the first minute of fucking match

3. Considering that HHH was trying to avenge his family, there was very little actual intensity shown IMO

4. Like 3, if someone had done all this to me and my family, I would of been fighting more and wrestling less, too much attempted wrestling psychology for my liking, this should of been much more of a brawl

5. HHH, just isn't that over, time to except it

Dave Youell 04-06-2009 04:04 AM

Thinking about some more now:

6. Orton got hardly any 'heel time' which meant there was no heat for a comeback, in fact HHH controlled too much of it for me, he never looked like he was in trouble

Tazz Dan 04-06-2009 04:55 AM

*accept* it :p

Spot on. There's just no way HHH is going to be a babyface if he's tied to the McMahons. Even more so against a heel as cool as Randy Orton.

HHH is in the main event because Vince and Steph love him. Steamboat vs Jericho would have been a better main event for chrissake.

No, it's not because of the McMahon thing, the, it's because I don't buy him as a main event face period anymore

I understood, point was that combined with the McMahon thing ment the crowd didn't know how to react, if they had any interest at all.

The McMahons are over, no doubt about it, Raw last Monday was white hot, hottest I've seen in years, the problem was the match structure and placement IMO

DaVe 04-06-2009 07:23 AM

...I quite liked Taker/Michaels.

You'd be hard pressed to find someone who didn't

Watching it again now, it's awesome

BobBitchen 04-06-2009 08:48 AM

did anybody notice the signs "it's still real to me damn it!!! or "If Cena wins, we want a refund"?

Evil Vito 04-06-2009 09:44 AM

<font color=goldenrod>Having Orton/HHH with that whole "DQ and you lose the belt" stipulation kinda killed it. After that feud, their match should have been a bloodbath with weapons and the like.

Anyway...still amazed at Taker/Michaels. I can't remember the last time I had my disbelief suspended like that. Deep down I felt Taker would win, but so many times I thought "it's over!" I gasped when HBK kicked out of the first Tombstone. And even though I KNEW the match wouldn't end in countout, Taker fell on his ass at like the count of 9 and I was like NOOOOOO.</font>

Rock582 04-06-2009 10:29 AM

hhh orton was really bad IMO. hhh really needs to get of that fucking top spot. taker n hbk stole the show and is quite possibly the most amazing match ive ever seen.

AJHayes 04-06-2009 10:35 AM

I think that the order of the matches was what made it somewhat disappointing. I thought overall it was good, espicially considering the product recently.

The legends match was fun. There was reason that Rourke took so long, it gave Jericho time to get him over as a babyface in the situation. Now, I have little in the way of issues with the way the Rourke situation went down, only because Rourke was a boxer. And I was thinking what if it was Arquette? Praise be to the Beard of Destiny that it was not Arquette.

The tag match should have been on the card. As was stated, it was a horrible call to have the divas instead of a match that redefines the tag division.

JBL vs. Mysterio should have been the curtain jerk. it also should have been a little longer.

Kid Rock is an abortion waiting to happen. I really wish that they would not have a concert during a wrestlign show. Espicially the Big Daddy of them all.

Divas Battle Royal. Poor. Enough said. Could have been alright, if they gave time to spotlight some of the divas. Such as Neidhart, Mickie, Molly, and Victoria. Could have been a 4 way or a tag. Past vs. Present.

Kid Rock still sucks.

The announce team could have been cut by two thirds. I really hate the king. JR has been calling it in for years and needs to retire. Time to pass the torch.

The triple threat would have been better if the Big Show won. Cena isn't really even over with the 8-14 demographic anymore. Big Show should be a monster, like he was with the ECW belt.

Hardy vs. Hardy was really enjoyable. I suspect that Matt will be pushed into the main event this year. It seems that when someone changes their gear they are getting ready for a push. I'm almost glad to see that they're going for a real split of the two. Matt getting "wrestling gear" while Jeff sticks with the jeans. In my opinion, this leaves the door open for each of them to go big places. Also, I bet it's just cool to go out and have a wrestling match with your brother at Wrestlemania.

Shawn vs. Taker was brilliant. This is what Wrestlemania is all about. This match alone met and surpassed my expectations. I cannot begin to say enough good things about this.

HHH vs. Orton is a victim of the order of the card I think. Someone said that this was a vengeance match and I concur with them. The build up was so good that it was hard for the match to meet with it. I might have done old school stipulations on the match: two out of three falls with a one hour time limit. *EDIT* Come ot think of it, I do think that there should have been more of a fight in this match, also, Orton should have been on the offensive for awhile. Maybe this match wasn't as good as my initial idea of it.

I was this close to considering tuning into more WWE programming until that moment.

Maybe next year.

so very true. how dissapointing it was seein hhh win yet AGAIN an orton having the ball dropped AGAIN.

Shisen Kopf 04-06-2009 11:53 AM

I watched it and I must say the highlight of the night had to be Kid Rock. Wow's hes good! totally great and am so glad they cancelled the tag team match to have that on the show.

Krimzon7 04-06-2009 12:10 PM

Bellfast Bomber has some great points. I think that we were punished by not seeing Orton get some credible offense in. This could still be a good feud, but I don't know if all the parties has what it takes to take this fued to the next level.

Kane86 04-06-2009 12:20 PM

Fuck Orton and Triple H there performance was so fucking stale. After Undertaker and Shawn Micheals its like everyone really stopped giving a fuck. I rember every title match was just like that back in the day.

Mooияakeя™ 04-06-2009 12:26 PM

Nothing beats Piper's language. It was like he was pissed.

Nah, seriously, I missed out on loads due to my event going down the pan halfway through. They have said they have refunded to my next bill though.

so if anyone knows where I can find the last 2 hours, please let me know!!!

I only saw half of The Hardy's and it all went fucked and finally off.

Kane86 04-06-2009 12:31 PM

Oh yeah If any of you Santino marks think he has a show at credibility after that shit he pulled last night. Your fucking wrong anyone who said sometiems you hafv ee to be a bitch character to get to the top. Well he sealed his fate pulling that bullshit tonight.

Dave Youell 04-06-2009 12:34 PM

Rock582 04-06-2009 12:43 PM

that wasnt making history. that was making a mockery of the ic title with the match being so dam short.

Mooияakeя™ 04-06-2009 12:43 PM

Shut up taker707!

Supreme Olajuwon 04-06-2009 04:41 PM

You guys are acting like Rey and JBL should've gone 15 minutes and put on a 5 star classic. What else did you want? You got a great promo from JBL, you got Rey in and out of the ring in under 5 minutes, and you got a segway into JBL's return to commentary where he excels and instantly makes whatever show he's on watchable.

And don't tell me it's because they disrespected the IC title. The IC title hasn't meant a thing in years.

Lux 04-06-2009 05:04 PM

Supreme put it best. Quit bitching guys, this may be the wrestling forum but we don't need bitching 24/7.

Dave Youell 04-06-2009 06:20 PM

Lux, this a internet forum

Regardless of the topic, bitching will ALWAYS happen 24/7

Lux 04-06-2009 07:06 PM

Yeah yeah we get that but in a thread about WrestleMania 25, come on now, have a little class you bitches.

Skippord 04-06-2009 08:17 PM

Pipers dropkick made me incredibly sad

wehavebensavedy2j 04-07-2009 02:35 AM

If Taker/HBK ended the show then people might have thought the streak could end which would have had people on the edge of their seats (even though they probably were) but everything after Taker/HBK was disapointing it was one of the best all time

Lux 04-07-2009 02:47 AM

Edge, Cena and Show was alright, some funny moments in it like when Edge kicked the steel steps into Show's legs.

oh and STFU!

It should always be a title match closing IMO

Sadly, there's hasn't been a very good main event title match since HBK and Benoit were involved it

DaVe 04-07-2009 03:41 AM

You serious?

Taker/Edge last year was tremendous...
