It sure is.

You don't have to personally desire a game, to tell that a lot of other people are going to want it. We are saying that a lot of highly anticipated games came out around that time, that forced people to make the decision not to get rockband 3.

And there are still a lot people out there who havn't recovered from the state of the economy and can't buy games whenever they want.

Don't know what is so "ridiculous" about all that.

Yeah, except that doesn't make it any more true.

I don't know why you go out of your way to be so ridiculous then get pissed off when someone calls you ridiculous. That would be like me sucking cock then getting offended at being called a gaylord.

...Hypothetically. :shifty:

Anyway, Rock Band's release was along side an equal number of million sellers. Comparison failed. Rock Band 2 also released around roughly an equal number of million sellers. Aside from the rampant success of Black Ops, the biggest change I can find is that NPD now reports combined sales, so one has to add up the old numbers to see total sales.

It's almost like the number of hot titles is roughly equivalent, no matter how bad you want it to be otherwise. Weird.

Hard to believe wanting something to be true doesn't make it true.

Can you go back to making absurdly over the top statements about how bros don't play Call of Duty and shit, so I don't need to do more than post "lol" at your shtick?

Why can't they have the studio version of Sweet Home?

Probably because the original was recorded poorly and likely doesn't have discreet audio for each track.

Just a hunch.

I don't really care anyway. Love the lick, can't stand the rest.

Not pissed off at all. Just disagreed with you. There can be a difference between the two, even though you consistently fail to realize it.

Regardless of whether I'm right or not, I'm more or less disagreeing with you on my statement being "ridiculous". What is ridiculous is your gay sex comparison. Just not seeing what is so ridiculous about a lot of good games coming out within several months while we're in a recession or whatever the fuck they're calling it these days, and having to choose not to get rock band 3, when you otherwise may have purchased it.

I know that I, and a dozen other people didn't buy it right away, or at all, for that very reason.

Also, wtf you you big queef, when did I ever say that bro gamers don't play COD? Maybe I said that they don't make up as much of the community as people who don't play it think they do, but that might come down to difference in opinion on what a "bro-gamer" is, so who cares.

Anyway, I beat some of your scores in RB3 the other day, so I win no matter what you say.

Rather surprised Tenement Funster made it to the list.

Yeah it's bullshit that we have to rebuy the songs that we already imported through Lego Rock Band like We Will Rock You and Champions for those of us that have pro guitar. :n:

What's retarded enough to pay a dollar to play along to the thirty seconds of guitar on WWRY?

Oh, right. That D Mac guy.

The only thing that really bugs me with the Queen shit is they didn't put it out until a little while before the announcement of RB3. While I understand it takes time to put out the tracks, it also takes time to develop a whole game.

Some of the redos make sense. Bon Jovi had three tracks on multiple titles, at least two of them readily predate the concept of pro guitars, keys, and harmonies. Though I don't think I'll bother with them, anyway.

But this? fuck that's lame.

Kane Knight 12-04-2010 10:33 AM

I'll get these tracks because I'm a massive Queen fan, but there are few tracks I will rebuy that aren't Queen.

Kane Knight 12-04-2010 11:53 AM

My bad, the Queen pack is over a year old, not under. While it's probable they had worked out much of the game in that time, it's not like they slipped it under the radar.

Kalyx triaD 12-20-2010 10:51 AM

Keys are fucking hard.

Kane Knight 12-20-2010 11:28 AM

Do you mean keys or pro keys? Because pro keys I can see, but keys? I've almost got the expert challenges complete.

Kalyx triaD 12-20-2010 11:34 AM

Pro keys. No way I can bullshit/sight read any of that. I have to learn the songs altogether. And this is stuff with two or three dots, I'm not going near the demon head ratings.

Just practicing on Bon Jovi's It's My Life and Runaway. I can finish It's My Life, but not with a decent percentage.

Pro drums is funny in that my arms wanna hit the old green and blue cymbals. But It's fairly easy to adjust after a while.

Fucking pro keys. Anybody has a good handle on those?

Kane Knight 12-20-2010 12:47 PM

I can totally flawless "Need You Tonight" on expert Pro Keys.

:shifty:

What difficulty are you playing? I'm mostly doing Medium. No way am I doing expert on any song that isn't retardedly simple just yet.

What's the difference between pro drums and the "old" blue and green cymbals? I only ask because my Ion kit is packed up due to space constraints, so I've only been using my RB1 kit. No cymbals. pro or otherwise.

Fignuts 12-20-2010 01:56 PM

Havn't even tried any songs yet. Just been practicing all the exercises.

As usual I dived into expert difficulty to start, I like to see how bad it can get to get a grip faster. Mostly it just means failing before the second chorus. It helps to look at keys while playing, but that means I'd have to know the song pretty much by heart. It is also the most rewarding experience in the game series to complete a chord or two, despite playing keys in the past.

The pro drums adds yellow, blue, and green cymbal icons in the game, along with the same color 'pills'. It can get confusing, but if you play drums on expert, you can nail pro expert (mostly).

Does practice mode help? haven't touched that yet.

Fignuts 12-20-2010 03:32 PM

Of course. I played the piano for 5 years, and when you start playing piano you always start with exercises and keep doing them even when you start playing actual songs. They are a huge help in getting a feel for the keys, and learning how to tell where you are on the keyboard and where everything is without looking.

jcmoorehead 12-20-2010 04:17 PM

Picked up the keyboard today and messed around a bit with the Exercises for the Keys and tried Imagine on Medium to see how it works. Did fairly alright but slipped up when it came to the black keys. I can't imagine what the higher difficulties would be like for it.

I've been playing mostly in the standard keys though just to get a feel for the keyboard and moving my fingers on that hand independantly. I do play the guitar so that has helped a bit especially seeing my teachers had me doing hybrid picking but there is still a way to go.

Better, in my opinion, than all the lessons, books and theory courses I took.

Well that was fast. Boston-based Rock Band and Dance Central developer Harmonix already has a new owner: investment firm Columbus Nova and its new affiliate, Harmonix-SBE Holdings LLC. You saw that one coming, right?

The sale was announced today, while the details of the transaction were not disclosed. (Hint: It invoved monies.)

Harmonix's John Drake took to the Rock Band forums to comment on the sale: "We're excited to be returning to our roots as an independent and privately owned studio. As for that it means for you, the DLC schedule marches on for Rock Band, we will continue our support of previously released titles and we're hard at work on some unannounced projects that we think you're going to be pumped about.

To be fair, your music tends not to involve guitar work, but rather epileptic fits with guitar in hand.

Fignuts 01-02-2011 07:01 PM

As an epileptic, I am offended by that comparison.

Kane Knight 01-02-2011 07:20 PM

Yea, that was a low blow to epileptics. My bad.

Kane Knight 01-03-2011 11:47 AM

Okay, I can play accurate tabs for "Hardest Button to Button" on a real guitar, but the MK Mustang gives me a little trouble on hard or expert because it doesn't quite "feel" right to me.

Probably just gonna take some getting used to using buttons instead of strings. It's easier to shift one "button" higher than one string higher or something. i don't know. Still, cool picking along to lessons.

Kane Knight 01-03-2011 07:38 PM

Beating D-Mac's scores. Should I feel good about that, or sad that he's the only pro guitarist I'm beating? :shifty:

Kalyx triaD 01-03-2011 07:54 PM

There's a lot of data that can be mapped to the keys in a LP song, to boot. So even if it's not literally piano friendly, there's a lot of tracks they could use.

Thinking of selling my Pro Guitar. Every time I think about picking it up and playing it I'm like "Eh, fuck it." Just don't have the patience to step up on it. It takes too much time and practice. Just like a real guitar eh? lol

Anyway anyone here interested?

Hello Friends,

As HMXHenry alluded to in his post from December 2 (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210000), we’ve been working on a new title update for Rock Band 3, and I’m very happy to announce that it is currently live on Xbox 360, and should be hitting on PS3 in US and Europe within 24 hours. We'll update when we know for sure the PS3 update is live. (Before you ask: Unfortunately, we’re not able to update titles on the Wii system, so this does not apply to Rock Band 3 for the Wii.)

In addition to numerous bug fixes and tweaks, possibly the most exciting component of this new title update is the arrival of RBN2.0. For those not in the know, this will add Harmonies, Keys, and Pro Keys authoring support for RBN songs. For more info on that, head over to http://creators.rockband.com!

Before I get into highlights of this update, we want to give the hugest of shoutouts to you, our community. Without your ongoing, detailed and constructive feedback, we would not have been able to pinpoint and address as many issues as we have here. It can be frustrating when you run into an issue with a game, but those of you who chose to proactively post your findings here on rockband.com instead of resigning yourself to “Well, that’s just the way it is,” are true heroes.

Enough chatting, on with the vital details!

GAMEPLAY CHANGES

* The audio distortion (also referred to as a buzz, hiss, or squawk) that some PS3 Keyboard players experienced has been addressed.
* For users experiencing trouble deploying Vocal Overdrive in certain audio setups, OD can now be deployed using the Back button on the controller. NOTE: this only works while in a valid Overdrive deploy section.
* Overdrive can now be deployed using a Pedal with both the Mustang Pro Guitar and the Keyboard peripherals.
* Scoring is disabled after a song has been paused multiple times (this prevent players from artificially inflating scores using the pause function).
* The translucency of the track surface has been adjusted to make note gems are easier to see against the venue backgrounds.
* Based on fan feedback, limited functionality for the Stage kit has been added to Rock Band 3. Please note that this 3rd-party peripheral is no longer officially supported, so we cannot guarantee full functionality with every file format (RB3, Pro-DLC), but basic functions should be reenabled.

ONLINE CHANGES

* PS3 Voice Chat not properly working with headsets has been remedied.
* Audio no longer distorts for remote players when whammying sustains in an online session.
* To prevent blank tracks from appearing in online multiplayer, all members in an online multiplayer band must own the Pro upgrades to play a song with DLC pro upgrades.

MUSIC LIBRARY AND STORE CHANGES

* Pro Guitar songs now sort themselves into the correct difficulty tiers.
* Pro upgrade availability will now be more accurately reflected in the Music Store.
* The following songs are now correctly appearing in the Music Library.
o Anvil - 666
o Anvil - Metal on Metal
o Anvil - This is Thirteen
o Dinosaur Jr - Pick Me Up
o Dinosaur Jr - The Wagon
o Guess Who, The - Hand Me Down World
o Guess Who, The - No Time
o Tenacious D - Rock Your Socks
o Avenged Sevenfold – Afterlife

PRACTICE MODE CHANGES

* An issue that prevented holding sustain notes on keys in the trainers has been addressed
* Breakneck Speed now works in Practice Mode.

CRASH FIXES

* Fixed a Character Creator crash related to a particular eyebrow asset or the generation of a random character.
* Fixed assorted minor crashes, as well as minor scoring and text bugs.

This is the first time that we've been able to release content early on all three systems worldwide, so we're really excited about that. Enjoy!

Please note: The content releasing this Friday, Feb. 11 will take the place of content that would have released Tuesday, Feb. 15.

Quote:

Harmonix, the developers of Rock Band, have issued a statement offering their thoughts on Activision's decision to no longer pursue the Guitar Hero franchise. Having faced financial and legal trouble of their own, along with recent layoffs, Harmonix certainly understands the climate of music games.

"We were sad to hear yesterday that Activision was discontinuing development on Guitar Hero. Our thoughts are with those who are losing their jobs, and we wish them the best of luck. The discontinuation of Guitar Hero is discouraging news for fans of the band game genre. As retail sales of Guitar Hero and Rock Band titles have slowed with time, we’ve been focused on building a robust digital platform for music gaming and have recently crested 2,500 songs available for play within Rock Band 3.

Harmonix and Rock Band continue to push beyond simple performance simulation to pioneer new approaches to music gaming. Rock Band 3 saw the introduction of our innovative new Pro Mode, in which aspiring musicians of all ages can develop actual musical skills through gameplay on guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums. We’re looking forward to the imminent release of the Fender Squier Stratocaster Guitar Controller, a fully functional guitar which doubles as a Rock Band Pro controller (launching March 1st). We are also relaunching the Rock Band Network, a way for bands of all shapes and sizes to get their music into Rock Band. RBN just passed the 1000-songs mark, and it’s relaunch will now support keyboards, pro drums and vocal harmonies. The music genre is one that calls for constant reinvention, and Harmonix is continuing to welcome and embrace that call.

In short, the beat of Rock Band marches on. We’re continuing to invest in the franchise and the brand that we have built, and will do our best to serve all loyal band game fans. For rhythm gamers out there who haven’t yet given Rock Band a chance, Rock Band 3 software is compatible with a wide range of instruments, including most Guitar Hero controllers <http://www.rockband.com/compatibility> . Looking to the future, for fans that want to switch, we’d happily welcome you over into the world of Rock Band.

It’s been a wild battle of the bands since 2007, but we respect and appreciate all of the hard work and innovation of our peers who have shared the music gaming space with us, and we look forward to rocking in the future."
tldr: We win.
