The leafs never want to admit they are rebuilding and because of that, they'll trade for guys that they shouldn't. It's a beautiful thing.

Arashi Kage 11-25-2010 12:32 AM

PRICE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Way to go Habs! 4-1 over the Kings.

Quoting CBC Sports:

Montreal's Carey Price made 19 saves to notch his NHL-leading 13th win of the year, matching his total from last season.
I feel good for the kid, amazing that this season has turned out this way so far. By the end of last season, I almost thought that he was "damaged goods" and would not regain his confidence under the pressure in Montreal.

:y:

weather vane 11-25-2010 12:35 AM

He sure is playing unreal right now...

OssMan 11-25-2010 03:28 PM

Why isn't Toronto the Maple Leaves

El Fangel 11-25-2010 03:33 PM

Because their owners and GM's never passed grade school.

Arashi Kage 11-27-2010 10:29 PM

Kovalev performed against the Leafs tonight. I don't think that there's anyone in history who is more hot-cold than Kovalev. Glad to see him do well, was one of my favorite Pens during Lemieux's 2nd tour of duty.

Price came within a minute of another shutout - stupid Leopold. :foc:

How much longer with Ron Wilson have a job??? Burke needs to find a way to bring in a top 2 line centre from another team.

El Fangel 11-27-2010 11:13 PM

There is an excellent article in the newest issue of THN about Burke and the Leafs, good read to be honest.

El Fangel 11-28-2010 11:16 AM

Stamkos held pointless for only the 4th time this season.

Says he has scored 3 or more points 5 times and has 11 YEAH FUCKING ELEVEN MULTIPOINT GAMES!!!

Hanso Amore 11-28-2010 11:35 AM

Jason Pominville is fucking worthless this year.

weather vane 11-29-2010 12:57 AM

bruins are a yoke rn

El Fangel 11-29-2010 01:17 AM

SaskatchewanChamp 11-30-2010 02:31 PM

Emperor Smeat 12-01-2010 10:19 PM

Bruins managed to beat Flyers 3-0 when the last few games they barely could score more than 1-2 goals a game.

El Fangel 12-02-2010 01:06 AM

Tim Fucking Thomas

Also, Edmonton got a well deserved win, even if it was against the Habs.

weather vane 12-02-2010 01:14 AM

so mint... now win tomorrow and I will stop worrying

El Fangel 12-02-2010 01:34 AM

That shorty by Gagner and Hemsky was a beaut.

Edmontons second goal, Price had not a chance on.

weather vane 12-02-2010 05:13 PM

Sturm to LA

Bruins cap troubles are solved.

Emperor Smeat 12-02-2010 05:52 PM

Bruins didn't have too much of a choice though since Sturm has been hurt and they didn't have the roster space or cap space to continue holding him.

It sucks that he got hurt and couldn't do much so far this year but at least the Bruins now have some space for a future deal or trade since they didn't do anything major during last season (except for the Kessel trade before the season).

weather vane 12-02-2010 09:30 PM

Bruins win 8-1 and that Sturm trade did not even end up happening...

El Fangel 12-02-2010 11:02 PM

I know its his first game back, but how did he not factor into any of the EigHT goals...

Corndad 12-03-2010 12:25 AM

Even the haters out there have to admit Crosby has been a beast the last couple weeks. 2nd straight Hat Trick at home tonight. Dang. Looks like the scoring title between him and Stamkos gonna be hot all season.

OssMan 12-03-2010 12:59 AM

His last hat trick was like the 3 shittiest goals ever. Haven't seen tonight's though.

El Fangel 12-03-2010 01:14 AM

When your one of two forwards on ice with talent, its pretty easy to be a point getter.

parkmania 12-03-2010 10:25 AM

But look at Crosby a couple years ago - he was an assist-getter, but was more interested in dishing the puck than shooting it himself. The last two years he's figured out that if the Pens need him to put the biscuit in the basket, then it's ok to do exactly that.

weather vane 12-03-2010 08:09 PM

Crosby is unreal. Anybody who doesn't see that is obviously a moron.

Probably the best player in the world.

El Fangel 12-03-2010 08:16 PM

I think Ovechkin and Stamkos would like to have a word with you on the matter.
Of course the best is a point of perspective in what a team needs and what you want each player to do.

Example, if Ovechkin was on Pitts and Crosby was on Washington, who do you think would do better?

On washington, Backstrom would be likely moved down, Semin would stay on Crosbys win and it wouldnt be much change.

On Pitts, Ovechkin would be on top line with Malkin and that, that would be fucking scary.

Skippord 12-04-2010 12:04 AM

Are you crazy? If Crosby was on Washington it would be ridic. Malkin is overrated. Crosby plays with glorified 3rd liners and still is the best. Ovechkin plays with other superstars...

SaskatchewanChamp 12-04-2010 09:01 AM

I strongly believe that the Caps, and mostly the top lines, are focusing on their defensive play. It has, and always will be their downfall come playoff time.

Hanso Amore 12-04-2010 09:03 AM

I dunno. While I agree that Ovie has a way better supporting cast, I think if you swap Crosby and Ovechkin they would still produce about the same as they do now. They are both Great.

Just two very different players.

Spilchuk, if Malkin is overrated, care to explain how he carried the pens on his back when Crosby was injured and how he won an Art Ross trophy?

YOUR Hero 12-04-2010 11:48 AM

Malkin has really fallen off. His potential is still large, but as a superstar, no. Somethings different about him now, like he's lost 1/4 a step or a ton of confidence.

... F.A. you're brining up what Malkin did 2 years ago.

SaskatchewanChamp 12-04-2010 04:36 PM

Malkin is the typical Russian Sniper. When he wants to go, he can go. If he doesn't.... well Alex Kovalev is the perfect example.

Lara Emily 12-04-2010 07:47 PM

4-0 Pens after 1 against Columbus

Chased Steve Mason already, 3 for 3 on the PP and Crosby now has points in I believe 15 straight, scoring another deflection goal, he now leads the league in goals and points

Arashi Kage 12-04-2010 08:12 PM

Malkin scratched for tonight's game :shifty:

El Fangel 12-04-2010 09:03 PM

Lol

Arashi Kage 12-04-2010 09:22 PM

Leafs - Bruins game is pretty good. The Leafs are playing hard, 2-1 Bruins at present but that is because of Thomas being sharp and JS being caught back in his net twice.

Note - I'm not a Leafs fan (Pens fan since '88), but I'd like to see the Leafs win this game. Kessel (never liked him ever) needs to score in this game.

Arashi Kage 12-04-2010 09:35 PM

VERSTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEG!!!!

Seriously, without Thomas, this is a 7-2 game for the Leafs, lol.

Looks like we'll get OT.

edit:

Thomas robbed the Leafs of a sure goal in OT.

Going to shoot-out, shots 40-27 Leafs.

Emperor Smeat 12-04-2010 09:53 PM

Both horrible but yet hilarious how Thomas saved Kessel's attempt but yet ended up sliding back into the net.

 Ryder sucks at shootouts and manages to hit the post more often than goalies making a save against his shots.

El Fangel 12-04-2010 11:52 PM

Canadiens bitches!!!!

Arashi Kage 12-05-2010 12:37 AM

Taylor Hall with a pure beauty to win on a breakaway in OT for the Oilers!

Andy MacDonald with the WTF moment of the game which essentially set up the Hall breakaway - it's like he skated and just spontaneously slipped / fell into Horcoff's legs and smashed his head into a knee or shin. :wtf: Hope he's ok.

weather vane 12-05-2010 04:22 PM

lol we lose to the leafs

El Fangel 12-05-2010 05:32 PM

Arashi Kage 12-08-2010 08:55 PM

Crosby with 2 against the Leafs so far tonight.

He just might be taking a run at 50 in 50, whatcha think?

I never expected anyone to come close anymore.

El Fangel 12-08-2010 11:50 PM

He will likely hit it. 27/29 so far, a couple 2 or three goal games and he will have a good shot. As long as he doesn't score 23 in the next ten or less, I'm fine with it.

LoDownM 12-08-2010 11:50 PM

30 Games actually.

El Fangel 12-09-2010 12:09 AM

Yinno, i don't think I would mind his success aa much if I wasnt living in his hometown. I swear if I hear him compared to Gretzky once more ill kill someone.

weather vane 12-09-2010 02:23 AM

Well he is the best player in the world.

El Fangel 12-09-2010 02:28 AM

That is completely debatable and you as an intelligent hockey fan know that.

In Gretzkys case, there was no debate.

Kapoutman 12-09-2010 03:23 PM

There can still be debate. For me I'd say Lemieux is the best ever. Some might say Orr or Howe.

IF the Pens can keep winning, they will have a chance to tie the NHL record for consecutive wins @WAS on Dec 23rd, 1 week before the Winter Classic - talk about a buildup!

Mario Lemieux #2 to Wayne Gretzky overall.

Mario Lemieux I'd say is the most talented of all time. But here is the one statistc that separates the "Great One" from the rest

Three players have posted 100 assists in a season: Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux

Orr did it 1 time
Lemieux did it 1 time
Gretzky did it 11 times

Which should tell you about the support he had in the high flying 80s more than anything else.

But you actually do touch on my philosophy which is:

Who had the most successful career: Wayne Gretzky
Who in my opinion is actually the most skilled of all time: Mario Lemieux

El Fangel 12-10-2010 02:15 AM

Not to discount, Kurri or Messier. But I would hands down take Jagr on my wing first.

Also, you take a look at the big 5, Gretzky, Howe, Richard, Orr and Lemeiux, you have the greatest forwards the game has ever seen, howevwr.

Howe and Richards were the 50-60's greatest
Orr took over in the early 70's
Gretzky owned the 80's
Lemieux, The 90's
Sadly, there isn't an apparent best for the 2000-2010 period. Arguably Crosby, Ovy for second half.
I think, in 10 years, you will see Crosby, Stamkos, Ovechkin, Malkin for 2010-2020

That statistic is insane. Gretzky made players, players didn't make Gretzky. Support is not what created this.

The only thing Gretzky had in defense of your argument was that he had an enforcer.

If Gretzky never had a goal in his career he is the number one point scorer of all time.

El Fangel 12-10-2010 04:37 AM

You know, I have to say that assisting on a goal by passing can be as hard as scoring.

Accurately passing to a moving teammate, banking off the boards, etc. Is something that takes a lot of skill.

Kapoutman 12-10-2010 11:54 AM

By playing hockey three times a week, I'll tell you that yes, making an accurate pass is harder than it look, but it's much easier to get on the board for an assist. you can just be the guy who handed it to the player who then made the real play-making pass, and you still get a nod.

El Fangel 12-10-2010 12:01 PM

First assist rather, not secondary.
