I may have picked a bad time to start a 100 favorite matches of all time list...

rated rjo 07-17-2011 11:25 PM

PUNK WINS
DEL RIO WINS
CHRISTIAN WINS
DANIEL BRYAN WINS
JOHN CENA FIRED (FOR NOW)

WTF IS GOING ON HERE!?!?!?!?!

The IWC is imploding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shadrick 07-17-2011 11:26 PM

This match is seriously up there with HBK/Taker 1.

#1-norm-fan 07-17-2011 11:26 PM

By the way... am I just still in the "in love with the amazingness I just saw" mode or was that one of the best PPVs of all time?

PPV of the Year frontrunner.

Emperor Smeat 07-17-2011 11:30 PM

That was a great ending to what might end up as the best ppv overall this year and maybe the last couple of years.

Depending on your view of the Divas match or Diva wrestling, the whole card was great from start to finish.

The crowd helped made the main event great with the  moment being Punk playing to the crowd to see who they were chanting "You can't wrestle" to.

Snowden 07-17-2011 11:40 PM

I just soiled myself. One of, if not my favorite wrestling moment, ever.

Yeah, this.

Outside of the Divas match (I didn't pay attention at all to), every single match had something. It either had a twist or some violence to end it.

Honestly, probably the most mediocre match was the RAW MITB, and that was only because it was a typical MITB match with a predictible outcome. If THAT is the worst thing on your show, you're doing pretty great.

I need to wait, but this may be, top to bottom, a top ten wrestling PPV. I could probably say with confidence that this is the best B-PPV ever.

Corndad 07-17-2011 11:55 PM

Best Twitter Comment I've read tonight...

"I find it hilarious that the way I celebrated CM Punk winning the title, was by drinking beer."

lol

...What has gotten into the WWE lately?!

IDK what it is, but I LOVE IT!

Battlekat 07-17-2011 11:59 PM

What a PPV! Easily the best that I've watched in years. I'm going to feel like a kid in Jr. High again, I'll be watching the clock all day tommorow waiting for 9 pm to roll around.

BizarroKing 07-18-2011 12:01 AM

Satan is officially skating on ice in hell, pigs are flying into SPACE!, the apocalypse is planning it's official date, and I'm pretty sure I just became, a monkey's uncle.

Also it's past midnight. Say goodbye to the WWE Title Vince.

Mr. Pierre 07-18-2011 12:03 AM

Wow, PPV doesn't get much better than this.

-SD MITB looked weak to me on paper, but this match was an incredible opener. Shocked to see Bryan win, but pretty cool.
-Divas match was what it was.
-Show/Henry was much better than I expected. Seemed like a pretty stiff match with a sick post-match beatdown.
-RAW MITB was great as well. If I had to pick, I preferred SD's, but this was still a lot of fun. Really innovative finish with the mask.
-Orton/Christian was awesome. It will definitely get lost on this PPV due to the main event, but this was a fantastic match.
-Cena/Punk was insane. This was a true main event. Such a big match feel, and it delivered big time. This angle has potential to kick ass if handled properly. :y:

SammyG 07-18-2011 12:06 AM

Can't say enough about Punk winning. Smart move by WWE. but people calling it a match of the century, or year, or even comparing it to Michaels-Taker... I dunno about that. There were a ton of blown spots in that match.

XL 07-18-2011 12:06 AM

July 17th 2011, the day WWE fellated the IWC.

Th3R0CKSays 07-18-2011 12:09 AM

Just got in from watching MITB @ Nationals Bar & Grill in Torrance.. The entire restaurant marked out when Punk won.. People jumping up and down, riding on folks shoulders. It truly was a sight to see.. Great PPV. Best finish we have seen in years. Guaranteed tomorrow's RAW will have crazy high ratings. WWE may have finally gotten the mystique back. We all wan't to see just what will happen next.. I just hope they don't manage to fuck it up.

Crazy Nick 07-18-2011 12:10 AM

By far the best PPV I have seen in a long ass time. Good job WWE!

SammyG 07-18-2011 12:28 AM

Punk has to be re-signed. Plus they're just gonna work Cena back in somehow, can't afford to lose him, which is gonna make everything that happened tonight completely pointless... but Raw's ratings should be through the roof tomorrow

VSG 07-18-2011 12:29 AM

So glad I found a dailymotion replay. Finished watching the Punk-Cena and Smackdown MitB matches so far. Ridiculous how good it was so far.

Did anyone else hear Big Show yell "I think he actually broke my foot" or something like that when he was getting carted off?

Droford 07-18-2011 12:40 AM

Why didn't Daniel Bryan cash in on Christian after he got beat up by Orton post match..

It would have made too much sense to screw Christian over again with a super short title reign, though with Daniel Bryan winning, I dont think the world is ready for Daniel Bryan, World Champion. Definitely gonna be the first to lose..he's too "goody two shoes" to take advantage of someone like Edge/Miz/Swagger etc all did. He'll probably challenge to a match like RVD did..either that or lose the case in a match where its put up for grabs to the winner.

GD 07-18-2011 01:06 AM

I am so happy. Danielson won, Del Rio won, Christian won, Punk won and they even showed Colt on television

SammyG 07-18-2011 01:06 AM

Shadrick, I'm fucking stoked on how the PPV went, don't get me wrong. I just think the actual MATCH had some blown spots, not ANYWHERE near Michaels-Taker.

GD 07-18-2011 01:19 AM

I couldn't agree more Sammy. But it was a good match by Cena standards.

the thing about the raw MITB match for me was there was some brutal spots/bumps. that swagger and kofi spot looked like it was not a fun landing for either. and evan+ladder always equals win..has there been a sexier shooting star press executed then the ones bourne unleashes?

Maybe I'm taking the match for what it was, and not analyzing it by "blown spots" etc. From an entertainment standpoint, its up there with HBK and Taker I to me. I didnt say it exceeds it, I'm saying its one of the better matches I've seen.

This. The show was incredible.

#1-norm-fan 07-18-2011 02:49 AM

Fourfifty was posting a lot. Then he said Daniel Bryan was the only one in the SD MITB match with no chance of winning. Then the match ended. And he hasn't posted since. lol

owenbrown 07-18-2011 02:51 AM

You watch...Vince will come down on Raw tomorrow will "fire" Cena, Johnny Ace, the ref in the match for counting the pinfall, and Justin Roberts for announcing Punk as the new champion

Shadrick 07-18-2011 03:08 AM

I guarantee you Punk is gonna be on Raw tomorrow. But have a ticket. And sit front row. lol.

SlickyTrickyDamon 07-18-2011 03:12 AM

Vince will make Colt Cabana join the kiss my ass club to get a contract. He'll give him the contract and then fire him on the spot.

Mr. Nerfect 07-18-2011 05:32 AM

I have absolutely no idea where this is going -- and that is a very, very good thing. To me, watching RAW is an absolute must now. Part of me is hoping that Cena and Punk become dark crusaders against the WWE.

Plus, Christian is Heavyweight Champion of the World! Daniel Bryan won Money in the Bank! Del Rio won, but has no one to cash in on! This is awesome, ladies and gentlemen.

Mr. Nerfect 07-18-2011 05:33 AM

Even though I love Christian, I am absolutely going to mark out like a little bitch if Orton attacks Christian during a title reign coronation ceremony, and then DB cashes in.

I should have stuck with my picks of Del Rio and Bryan, but I switched to Kingston and Barrett. I'm much more interested in both shows now.

Londoner 07-18-2011 05:40 AM

Christian is currently the undisputed sole World Champion of World Wrestling Entertainment.

Volare 07-18-2011 05:45 AM

Thinking about RAW, Ziggler was right....the US title is the only thing that means something on RAW now.

Mr. Nerfect 07-18-2011 05:46 AM

I'd love to see Christian on RAW, offering to be the sole champion of the WWE in the segment where Cena gets fired. Man, the WWE could be so good right now. Honestly so many ways they can go with this.

Volare 07-18-2011 05:47 AM

Oddly enough, I still see Christian being "whiny and dissatisfied", since everyone's talking about CM Punk. Also, see AotR asking- no, DEMANDING- that Vince declare him WWE Champion. He prematurely had his own belt made and everything. It's an old school white strapped* winged eagle (which matches his white/gold scarf... but, you already know that!)

I have a feeling Bryan is gonna get challenged by someone like Wade Barrett and lose the MITB briefcase.

Londoner 07-18-2011 06:34 AM

impeccable, check yer rep.

Just watched the Raw MITB and HOLY SHIT, probably one of the best in recent memory. Much better than the smackdown one for me though that wasn't bad, but the Raw one was unique, the spots flowed together well and i must've said holy shit out loud like 4 times, lol.

It could happen, but I don't see the point. If they wanted Barrett to hold the briefcase, they should have put it on him from the start. It just pollutes the gimmick that way. Bryan wins, and thus the anticipation around him becoming a future World Champion becomes almost set in stone as he is built up.

Bryan could be a gentleman and could announce ahead of time when he will challenge. I'd mark out for a scenario where he declares that he'll be challenging for the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania XXVIII. Cena vs. Rock, Bryan vs. the World Heavyweight Champion and whoever wins the Royal Rumble gets to join the fray of either one.

Doesn't need to go down like that, but it could work, and would fit Bryan's character. But so would Nexusing the champ, spitting in their face, kicking their head off and cashing in there...

Rock Bottom 07-18-2011 07:06 AM

Last night we all received a big fat blowjob from the WWE.

And last but not least, from Cena. He did a hell of a job, this match is one of the best of all times in terms of build, execution, all of it. Cena proved a lot tonight, if he had anything to prove.

Now if only he never ever cut a promo again, I'd actually become a fan.

<font color=goldenrod>As soon as Bryan won the briefcase, I knew there would be plenty of posts proclaiming that he would lose the case or be the first to lose his cash-in outright.

Unbelievable pay per view.

Punk/Cena goes without saying - highlight of the night by far. But what surprised me even more waa that Randy Orton made me actually care about his characer. Christian spitting was a classic heel move, but Randys response was fantastic.

If Punk/Cena was the highlight of the night, then Orton/Christian were definitely the unsung heroes of the night.

Whats funny is, I caught Chris Masters in the Summerslam promo they put together and I think I may be the only one. He's standing next to Miz and Kofi as they walk up the beach.

TheFallenOneX 07-18-2011 09:31 AM

*SPOILER ALERT* MITB

Congrats to CM Punk for being the second triple crown winner (ECW, World Heavyweight Title, WWE Champion)

P.S. Kane was first

P.S.S. I'm not counting Big Show because the World Heavyweight title does not have the lineage of the WCW Title.

Mr. Nerfect 07-18-2011 09:34 AM

Didn't even think of that. Definitely a pretty big thing, even in today's day and age, since nobody really does it. Not that the ECW Title meant anything. Or that it's really even still relevant. Just a little bit of trivia.

Also, Edge is the only person to have held every single title currently active in the WWE. If Kane wins the US Title, he'll also be there. Punk is also only the US Title off, as is Triple H. I'd actually enjoy a Triple H vs. Dolph Ziggler feud, not that it will ever happen.
