Atta boy, Elway.

The last big CB the eagles got didn't really workout that well if I remember correctly.

I was worried about Asomugah on the Eagles and they managed to screw that up. I have the same hope they can do that with Revis.

CSL 03-12-2013 11:38 AM

lol

Pranksters Record Two NFL GMs Discussing Free Agency Over The Phone. It's a brilliant prank, and it never should've worked. How did a couple of 20-year-olds listen in on two NFL executives talking shop the day before free agency began? A little luck, great timing, and a 73-year old general manager who doesn't really understand how telephones work.

audio of the call is on there

Next Big Thing 03-12-2013 11:45 AM

Buddy Nix sounds like such a bumpkin. It's kind of interesting insight into how GMs interact though.

DaveBrawl 03-12-2013 11:48 AM

Buddy Nix: the pride of Carbon Hill, Alabama.

Supreme Olajuwon 03-12-2013 12:05 PM

Is Nix the guy who gave Fitzpatrick that hilarious contract?

DaveBrawl 03-12-2013 01:29 PM

That would be him.

Emperor Smeat 03-12-2013 03:10 PM

Tony Gonzalez announces he's postponing retirement for at least one year and will play next season for the Falcons.

Also its been reported that the Bucs have made a potentially better offer for Revis than what the Eagles offered on Sunday.

PFT's Mike Florio believes the package will be headlined by a 2013 second-round pick or a future first-round selection due to the fact Revis is still in rehab mode from a torn ACL. The Jets are "poised" to act quickly on Revis, so this may be their opportunity to pull the trigger.

Next Big Thing 03-12-2013 03:49 PM

Nnamdi Asomugha is going to be cut according to ESPN. Seems like they're prepping for a Revis push to me. Rather him in the NFC East, than NFC South although Revis isn't shutting down Roddy, Julio and Tony G.

Next Big Thing 03-12-2013 04:08 PM

Martellus Bennett to Bears.

Innovator 03-12-2013 04:09 PM

Darn. I liked him last year.

Evil Vito 03-12-2013 04:11 PM

Sucks to lose Bennett, but the TE position has been a revolving door anyway. Mike Pope could probably find a way to coach one of us into a productive TE.

Next Big Thing 03-12-2013 04:25 PM

Ryan Fitzpatrick released. Buddy wasn't joking.

Next Big Thing 03-12-2013 04:34 PM

Mike Wallace to Dolphins. They might be a wildcard next year.

Wow, Eagles cut Asomugha loose.

That contract backfired big time.

Emperor Smeat 03-12-2013 06:19 PM

Current rumor from NBC Sports is the 49ers will go after Reed if Dashon Goldson ends up leaving them. Reed's current agent ia also the agent for both the GM and coach of the 49ers.

Goldson himself is currently meeting with the Bucs to see what they might be willing to offer him. Lions are also very interested in him.

Ellerbe started 14 games in 4 years, Kruger started 6. No way the to of them were worth a combined $75 million. Ozzie New some has let way better players than them walk for more money and it usually works out well. See Bart Scott, adalius Thomas, ed hartwell.last year in Ben grubbs, Cory redding and Jarrett Johnson..
All of them walked after having big contract years and outside of Thomas none of them did squat outside of Baltimore
That being said, losing Kruger to the browns does suck but whatever.

Droford 03-12-2013 08:09 PM

Ravens will draft Teo now..pretty confident of it

Droford 03-12-2013 08:11 PM

Flacco's contract had nothing to do with this. Ozzie newome just does not like to pay players who have career years in contract years, especially linebackers. Before you say "but he paid Flacco!" Just shut up because he's played well for the majority of his initial contract. Ellerbe was on the verge of being cut during camp before this past season, his only saving grace was that Courtney upshaw was hurt. Upshaw improved a hell of a lot over the course of his rookie year.

Ed Reed very close to leaving the Ravens according to Rotoworld:
Quote:

Ed Reed - DB - Ravens PFT's Mike Florio is "getting the sense" the Ravens don't want to re-sign free agent Ed Reed.

The Baltimore Sun reported Wednesday morning the Ravens were "definitely not out of the picture" for one of their franchise cornerstones, but they're apparently getting ready to move on. It's what they're doing at seemingly every other position on defense. The loss of Reed would mean the Ravens need two need safeties after cutting Bernard Pollard. The Ravens are gutting the core of their team like few other recent SB champs.

Team needed to upgrade on defense for sure. Didn't think so many people would go so quickly, though.

There is a difference between revamping an aging defense and completely building a new defense.

All depends on how Gronk is for next season considering Welker was originally planned to have less of a role last season before Gronk (and Hernandez) got hurt.

If the TEs can stay healthy then Amendola youth and speed will make up for the loss of Welker's experience. Also gives Amendola time to get used to the new system and become their next "Welker" type player.

Good Riddance Wes Welker. He's the Peyton Manning of Wide Receivers.

And Droford, you can rationalize this as much as you'd like. The Ravens are getting rid of them contracts to afford Flacco. Say Hello to Third (and Maybe 4th) place in the AFC North.

Dear God, since I'm on a roll, please let Cincy win the AFC North, with Cleveland finishing second, so Pittsburgh and Baltimore can look up and see what the 90's felt like to us.
