The Browns probably traded up late in the 3rd to get Terrance West out of Towson, I was hoping the Ravens would have got him.

Dear AJ McCarron,

I hated you for so long. You're from Alabama...and I root for Georgia. It's gonna be tough to initially cheer for you, when I think of how you carved my heart out in the SEC Championship game a couple years ago.

BUT THEN, I think of the fact that we currently have the shit sandwich named Andy Dalton as our quarterback. He is such a perennial fuck up, that he makes it easy for me to cheer for you. PLEASE SAVE US FROM THIS SHIT EATING GINGER! Bring your game management challenges(and your fucking smoking wife) to Cincy, and deliver us to a playoff win and game manage us to the SuperBowl.

Love,

Then I see Michael Sam with his white boyfriend.

I'm absolutely gutted that Octavias McKoy from WCSU didn't go anywhere. As a Division 3 player I knew it was very unlikely that a team was going to invest a draft pick on him, but I figured he'd at least be one of the dozens of guys signed right after the draft. All I see when I search his name on Twitter are tweets before the draft, so if he did sign somewhere none of the beat writers for that respective team have bothered to report it. I'm guessing he may still get brought in on a tryout basis for a team, but sucks that he didn't get signed. Whether he made it to a 53 man roster or not, just seeing a guy from WCSU in the NFL somewhere would have been a big boost for the program.

Tennessee's draft:

http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/tracke...team-input:ten

Jake Locker's hurt and Chris Johnson's gone, so I guess we will see what happens. Don't think they can steal wins from good teams on this upcoming season's schedule unlike last year. This past season as close as some of their losses were, they could have had a 12-4 record at best. I would have been happy with 10 wins and a playoff berth. We'll see how it goes.

Ermaximus 05-11-2014 02:56 PM

I agree, but at the same time I have no sympathy for the players who get suspended for it, let alone multiple times like Hill and Gordon. Bullshit rule or not, it's still banned by the league. Can't just be all "well it's a dumb rule so I'm gonna do it anyway." Have some self control. Flacco and Kaepernick will probably be linked forever by the McDonalds Mighty Wing fiasco Super Bowl 47 , but at least Flacco won a Super Bowl.

And yet people bitched that Flacco didn't deserve the money he got. Stats wise Flacco was just as good as, if not better than Kaepernick with worse recievers and an incompetent offensive scheme for the last few years. Flacco's gotten to the Conference championship too and choked just like Kaepernick did.. they,re giving him $61 mil guaranteed for essentially a year and a half and no ones thinking that's a joke..lol

road doggy dogg 06-04-2014 05:39 PM

There's probably a dozen QBs in the NFL I'd take over both Flacco or Kaepernick

Droford 06-04-2014 05:39 PM

Hell, Tony Romo deserves his $55 million guaranteed money way more than Kaepernick.

I also can't wait to see what kind of deal Andy Dalton gets from the Bengals. If he gets any kind of money like that lit he might as well put on a mask and run out of the Bengals HQ the day he signs cause he's robbing them blind.

Droford 07-15-2014 11:12 AM

I keep having a bad feeling about this season for the Ravens and then I look at their schedule. if they can't go 11-5, then its probably going to be an awful year.

Bucs, Jaguars, Texans, Falcons, Titans, Browns (2) should all be wins which is 7.

Colts, Chargers and Dolphins are toss ups though I think the Chargers and Dolphins being near the end of the season helps the chances of winning 2 of them.

outside of Division games with Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, the two toughest games will be Panthers and at the Saints. Winning in new Orleans (when its not the Super Bowl) is hard..the Panthers in Baltimore will be rough too. 0-2 strong possibility.

They can split the Steeler/Bengal Series and still get 11 wins.

Falcons, Texans, and Browns will not be a cakewalk for Baltimore. Falcons will comeback to form this year so you should count them as a lose anyhow. They will go 1-1 with the Browns and the Texans will be a toss up. This is due to the fact Baltimore has a terrible team.

I feel bad if you can't remember all the way back to 2012. Prior to last year the last time the Browns beat the Ravens was a sweep in 07. I'm not seeing anything from the browns that says they're any better with Johnny Football. The Bengals have 2 additional games vs the Broncos and Patriots in addition to the Saints/Colts/Panther. The NFL also screwed them by making their bye week week 4. Steelers have an easier schedule and I could see them doing better this year.

Gary Kubiak running the Ravens offense is going to be a breath of fresh air. I've heard a lot of promising early reports. Obviously a lot will depend on what happens with Ray Rice but I think Pierce will be capable of filling in.

Word came out of the officials' camp in Dallas on Friday that the league is going to put an emphasis on calling more penalties in pass coverage. Former vice president of officiating Mike Pereira tweeted Friday that officials are being asked to call more interference, holding and illegal contact penalties... The idea is to create more offense. Scoring is already at an all-time high, but the NFL doesn't want scoring and offensive production to drop off. The Seahawks won the Super Bowl with their "Legion of Boom" defense. While it was fun to see defense back on the podium, the NFL doesn't want to see the sport go the way of baseball, which is dominated by pitching and low-scoring games.

Yep, let's further neuter defenses to may way for more offense. Clearly that's what the NFL needs.

Evil Vito 07-23-2014 04:15 PM

Sidney Rice retires at age 27.

Makes sense really. Seattle had Baldwin, Harvin, and Kearse ahead of him on the depth chart plus they drafted two WRs (Paul Richardson and Kevin Norwood) who would have figured to be locks for the team. That would have left Rice fighting for a possible 6th WR spot that probably would have been better served going to somebody who could contribute on special teams, like Ricardo Lockette.

He still made a good amount of money in his career and got a ring. His body keeps betraying him so probably best to hang 'em up now.

Better to go out on your own terms than get forced out. NFL's had their fair share of senile old bastards still running teams and making bad decisions/driving people crazy.

God bless Pat Bowlen. Broncos are in good hands.

road doggy dogg 07-24-2014 10:12 AM

Question about Rice. How does "retiring" affect things like free agent status, contract commitment etc? I know it's come up tons of times before (Favre being a recent example) but I forget how it all played out. If a player "retires" then say, in Rice's case, his body cooperates and 2 years later tries to break back into the league, are they just a UFA at that point? Would Seattle get any compensation? What's to stop players from retiring willy-nilly to get out of contracts? (legitimate question, I do not actually know how any of it works)
