A guy who's had to work hard and EARN everything. Nothing that happened was given to him on a silver platter. He had a short run as a jobber/developmental guy for WWE in the early 2000s before spending around 12 years on the indy circuit..then he comes back in 2009 and eventually wins every title, except the WWE Championship before it's unification with the WHC.

The guy is a bona fide great and a surefire first-ballot hall of famer. THAT is what people see in him.

Great speech he gave and wouldn't be surprised if WWE puts him in the Hall next year like they did with Edge's sudden retirement. If Brock or Rock don't go in next year, Bryan easily headlines that class.

His Mania 30 moment was really bitter sweet in how quickly it went from an amazing high for him (winning the title) to a terrible low (both his father and Connor passing away shortly after the event) and then got even worse (injured a month later).

Clearly Vince was holding Brie at gunpoint backstage until he delivered that line to fool us into thinking Bryan isn't really just being retired because the fans like him more than Reigns.

It's sad the way his hand has been forced and am sure he will need to adjust, but it really was amazing the heights he reached and that amazing Wrestlemania that every wrestler dreams of. He genuinely sounds grateful for all of that too and that is a great place to start as he moves to plan the rest of his life.

It seems like he will be a massive loss to the guys in the back and to the industry as a whole. He seems like such a nice, genuine guy and his popularity just dwarfs everyone else even after being inactive for so long. Fantastic legacy though and hope whatever has been damaged in his brain will not shorten or damage his quality of life.

Happy for him that he retired. If he kept trying to come back, I feel like he would have been riddled with injuries with the way he worked and the fact that he's not getting any younger nor could I envision him slowing down.
