I'd give tonight's show a C-. Very lackluster overall.

That fall from the prison through that table was BRUTAL.
|
KO was good on Talking Smack. Renee was also good.
|
Dammit...now thanks to Renee, I want to learn Punjabi profanity. :shifty:
|
Ok, time to go watch Game of Thrones......

Hey, New Day vs. Jinder and Singhs is that much closer to happening.

WWE is pandering to a crowd whose entire childhoods and early-adult years were meticulously planned, in 15-minute segments in their "daily planner." |
The WWE delivers another amazing PPV. I mean, maybe not amazing in the same way that the smarks want, but the business model has changed, people:
* The New Day vs. The Usos I do have to complain about first. The match just went too long and tried to outshine the other stuff on the show. If they were the main event, this would have been fine, but they got too show-offy. * Baron Corbin vs. Shinsuke Nakamura was a brilliant stroke of booking. See, they've put this gold star next to Corbin's name, so he can put talent over constantly while holding the briefcase. The DQ ending makes you want to see another match between these two. It wouldn't surprise me if something was on the line for that one... * Natalya is a great wrestler, so it is good to see her get her due. Naomi is a good babyface and Nattie is the best heel she's got. Your move to try and keep up with them, RAW. * Kevin Owens winning the US Title back keeps this back and forth with the championship going, which is for the best. You've got a nice long classic heel reign in the main event, so the other belts moving around keeps things exciting on the undercard. It wouldn't surprise me if we see another title change very soon. * John Cena as the American hero vanquishing the evil foreign threat is classic storytelling. Rusev can now move into a story against Shane while Cena potentially moves into US Title contention. * It's great to see the new talent from Japan doing the time-honored tradition of losing their first huge match. Sami Zayn definitely needed the win. * Mahal is such a great WWE Champion. I know a few people complained that they couldn't see the match, but that's great heat. Bringing back Khali and the Punjabi Prison is retro too. Some people will bitch about how Khali and the Prison were hoohah the first time, but they happened so long ago that they are basically classic nows. I just hope Ricardo Rodriguez becomes Jinder Mahal's personal ring announcer. |
This "Orton screwed by Jinder" thing is getting old.
After it was reported Khali arrived in Philly it was way too obvious what's gonna happen. Guess the internet is to blame for that, but even if it wasn't for that, you just knew Jinder would cheat his way too win yet again. |
I enjoyed the show.
But flag matches are fucking dumb. |
But the flags were on a pole man!
|
I'm a Pole, man!
|
This PPV was the drizzling shits

I think Noid's post may have been a bit sarcastic. Not sure.

Great Khali of Fire is a better name than SummerSlam IMO
|
Really hope the finish to the main pulls Orton from Jinder. He's got good heat but Orton bores me to tears.

Randy Orton needs to start acting real wild and crazy. Then he can be rebranded as Randy Savage, oh wait.
|
WWE's only hope of garnering any significant interest amongst non-smarks is to re-unite The Shield and push them hard as fuck.
|
Yeah casuals fucking love the shield...huge hit for FX. Not sure if Michael Chiklis would want to work for the WWF though
|
I did end up watching the Destruction of the Shield collection on the Network after I watched Battleground last night for some reason.

Hmmm the object of the flag match was to take the flag from a very visible front and center spot and put it in a vertical stand in a less visible spot.
|
I thought the ppv was really, really good. 4.5/7. It wasnt perfect bc Khali of Greatness didn't do a Swanton bomb off the Punjabi Prison
|
Kinda wish we could switch title storylines, AJ vs Mahal and (Assuming soon) Cena vs KO. Face of America Owens can go line for line with Cena, and honestly I think AJ/Mahal would be a better match going 15-20.

The weird thing is, is that YouTube never sends me alerts on my phone. This was the very first time it happened and it just had to be a spoiler.
|
Eh, I wouldn't subscribe to them.

Anyway, watched W3's Review and he gave it a B+. Why? I really don't understand the overwhelming positive responses that some had to the show. It had it's good moments, but the only 2 matches I'd qualify as good or great were of course the tag team championship match and English v. Dillinger. The rest was just uninspired. I know right after the show, I said I gave it a 'C-', but on further thinking, that's too generous. It was the worst WWE PPV of the year, and possibly in several years at that. I'm revising my grade to a 'D' for the "battleground" this shitshow put my eyes, ears and brain cells through. What an absolute load of putrid garbage. |
