If the rumors I saw were true, the way this ends will suck

I want them to bring back Raw Talk/Talking Smack with both hosted by a combination of Booker T and Daniel Bryan.

Feel like Roman doesn't need the IC belt....beginning of the end for Miz and prolly the hardcore fans turning on Roman again...

Dark One 11-20-2017 10:53 PM

I feel like Curtis Axel's neckbrace is going to be like D-Lo Brown's chest protector. He will be wearing it until the day he dies.

I mean, he was still getting booed a significant amount last night, so, not a far fall.

Anybody Thrilla 11-20-2017 10:55 PM

Roman doesn't NEED the title, but the Miz hasn't really been doing much but carrying it around.

I'm fine if Roman wins... Shield + Euro Title shall keep him out of the main event for a while.

The opposite.

Miz is a master of getting heat, and he saw how punchable Pete Dunne's face was and decided he had to get him some of that.

For a few weeks. He won a champ vs champ match against Cena, then lost it back to him before crippling Sting at Night of Champions or something.

That's because he never IC Champ, ever. So, that is because he's not a Grand Slam Champion.

Forgot about the US title reign so he's a Triple Crown Champ.

BITCH THEN WHAT IS HIS JOB

And to be fair here as well, the insinuation was he can't put someone higher up the command chain in a match. The problem there is the inconsistency with which they apply that idea coupled with not explaining it well. This from the company that loves to repeat stipulations 30 times a match and overuse some buzz phrase for the next coming PPV.

Managed to forget the new changes means you need both secondary titles now to be a Grand Slam Champ. Noticed the little blurb under the requirements after checking the list again.

Lena Dunham, probably

Tom Guycott 11-20-2017 11:50 PM

You know, the Drunk Uncle Booker and Corey Graves dynamic has really grown on me. Odder because Booker T has been pretty hit-and-miss during his time in the booth, and Graves has come a loooooooong way since transitioning (albeit by force) from competitor to commentary. They're no Monsoon/Brain, but they do seem to have a similar type of chemistry.

Anybody Thrilla 11-20-2017 11:54 PM

I've always loved Booker on commentary, and Graves is aces.

Evil Vito 11-21-2017 12:42 AM

I don't think Booker is all that good on commentary, but I do appreciate that he provides genuine enthusiasm instead of Cole's forced company line enthusiasm.

Anybody Thrilla 11-21-2017 12:44 AM

He gives a unique perspective as nothing else. Perfectly acceptable as a color guy. I wouldn't dig him on play by play, I don't think.

Emperor Smeat 11-21-2017 01:05 AM

Booker is a lot more bearable when he plays off of Graves than with Cole. Graves & Cole are better as a pairing but Cole still brings down the quality of the duo more than Graves boosts it.

Think Tazz might have been the only person who ever fitted really well with Cole in the booth. JBL's 1st run was good with Cole but his 2nd run was terrible. Lawler & Cole were very hit or miss and a big downgrade compared to Lawler & Ross.

He's been tag and WWE WH Champion, too. So, yes, he is a Grand Slam Champion with that win.

Honestly, what is to like about Booker on commentary? He doesn't make sense.

Big Vic 11-21-2017 07:39 AM

Heyman and Ross were my favorite announce team, wish that pairing lasted longer.

Sepholio 11-21-2017 08:44 AM

Who did Miz piss off? Loses to Corbin and then drops the title the next night.

Evil Vito 11-21-2017 09:19 AM

I just tune out Cole at this point. He's actually a good announcer when he's not given constraints and is allowed to actually call the action in the ring. But Vince has him constantly talking about what's gonna happen later in the show and they make him repeat corporate buzzwords over and over again and it's all just so phony.

Sepholio 11-21-2017 09:40 AM

I don't think Cole is good at all at this point. He misspeaks constantly and calls moves the wrong name all the time and trips over his own words awkwardly. It's like he doesn't even care any more. He desperately needs some time off to recoup or something.

Evil Vito 11-21-2017 10:06 AM

So....did they put the belt on Roman simply to complete his Grand Slam? Is the plan for him to drop the belt before Mania? I'd long assumed he wasn't going to eat a pin again until after Mania but there are always ways to get it off of him without him taking a pin. You could do a wonky title change on a DQ type deal, or you could have Steph force a battle royal which is how they got the US Title off of Ambrose back during the initial Shield run.

I'd read a month or two ago that the idea of a title for title match at Mania was in play.....but come on. I know WWE hasn't exactly cared about the IC Title in recent Manias, shunting it to the pre-show this year and just using it as an excuse to get a multi-man ladder match onto the show in the two years previous. But hypothetically the title could still be used to get a separate program onto the card. Making Reigns/Lesnar title for title doesn't elevate the IC Title in importance because not even Heyman's best promo effort would get me to believe that Brock would actually care about winning a second tier title when he already has the top belt. Somehow that match would become even more blindingly predictable than it already is.

Roman could also just lose the title in a triple threat or something. Easy enough.

Big Vic 11-21-2017 12:02 PM

Hate when Booker actually makes a good point and Cole is like "Haha fuck you Booker"

Jordan 11-21-2017 12:18 PM

Booker was a great performer but much like Randy Savage is inarticulate as a commentator.

RP 11-21-2017 01:58 PM

Booker is terribly bad. But i want him in the WWE in some format. Not sure where.

RP 11-21-2017 01:59 PM

There is some comedic value to Graves basically roasting Booker for his terribleness on the show. If they kept with that and Booker was good with it, then i could get used to it.

Cool King 11-21-2017 03:10 PM

• I feel like this is the beginning of Raw returning to the "Triple H & Stephanie Show" with their signature 10-20 minute opening promos included.

• Oh look, Paige is back, looking more like a crack whore than ever.

Seriously though. What's with the clown lips?

Meh whatever, I just hope The Rock would hurry up and make his shite film so it can get released, followed by Paige not long after.

• It's great that the Intercontinental Championship means nothing again. I'm sure we were all missing those days, but really, the only positive I can think of from The Miz dropping the title to Reigns is that maybe now The Miz can chase a world title.

It obviously wouldn't be the Universal Championship as Lesnar is keeping that warm for Reigns at WrestleMania.

I can only hope that The Miz gets drafted at the next draft and there he can chase the WWE Championship, but deep down, I know that won't happen.

Mr. Nerfect 11-21-2017 03:29 PM

It's great for Miz to make that Roman kid.

Mr. Nerfect 11-21-2017 03:29 PM

They'll push him into the main event as someone who has won every title except the Universal Title (except the SmackDown Tag Titles).

He's pretty much is at the stage Ross and Lawler were late into their pairing where their enthusiasm/quality nosedived but the biggest difference being Cole never had that stretch of greatness those two had in the booth.

He really needs to follow through with his plans and retire from commentary as soon as possible so he can work on the production side of things.

Cool King 11-21-2017 04:10 PM

Booker T ain't that great either.

If he's not making grunting/growling noises when big moves happen, he's either complaining about something, contradicting himself or just speaking gibberish.

Agreed. Honestly, I think Vince is probably keeping him in there. I'm not a big Tom Phillips fan, but I think him and Corey Graves -- the hot-shot young announcers -- could really tear it up on Raw. If they want a third person for the booth, why not try putting Renee back in there? She did really well in the spot in NXT, and having a female announcer would fit their quota of "diversity."

If Cole wants to wind down, give him SmackDown with Byron Saxton and get out of their ears.
