AareDub 07-27-2004 12:11 AM

Shouldn't HHH get a dq for hitting the ref?

Watson 07-27-2004 12:11 AM

It's sad how damn predictable this match is.

Shadow 07-27-2004 12:11 AM

Wow...anyone reminded of the HHH/Orton honeymoon video?

Shadow 07-27-2004 12:12 AM

Come on...come on....come on....

RGWhat316 07-27-2004 12:12 AM

Can't Eugene make the ref count? Austin did that once.

Azriel 07-27-2004 12:12 AM

Its like watching a match in slo-mo/

Nowhere Man 07-27-2004 12:13 AM

Dude, something's wrong with my TV. It just showed Benoit retaining the World Title over Triple H.

RGWhat316 07-27-2004 12:13 AM

Now where the hell is Orton?

Azriel 07-27-2004 12:14 AM

I don't care what anybody says about Eugene's run in, That shit was entertaining as hell and I was marking out. Eugene fk'n cleaned house. That was soooo Austin like. Loved the Stunner on Flair and the Rock Bottom on HHH. Great stuff. FK'N BENOIT VS ORTON. HOLY SHIT.

RGWhat316 07-27-2004 12:19 AM

I figured he would've caused a DQ to get HHH to win, but Benoit wins instead.

Oh, hell yeah. Eugene ruled, definite mark-out moment there.

Loose Cannon 07-27-2004 12:26 AM

I'm telling you, they got to make the Benoit/Orton match a ladder match. It would help sell that match more because there hasn't been any buildup.

Eugene versus HHH should be no DQ

Loose Cannon 07-27-2004 12:31 AM

BTW: I love how Benoit takes those Irish-Whip into the turnbuckle bumps. I know he's done it a million times, but I never mentioned it. That's classic Hart style right there

CosaNostra 07-27-2004 12:32 AM

LOL did you see that fly crawling on Benoit's face when he was down? Prolly lapping up the blood. :wtf:

Vazz 07-27-2004 12:35 AM

That was a good match. Anyone who says it's boring should watch the Rock vs HHH one... :x

Like most iron man matches they dont get to interesting until the last 10 minutes. :-\

Azriel 07-27-2004 12:44 AM

I liked it tonight. Technical and physical. Next week shall be very interesting.

V 07-27-2004 12:45 AM

respect to benoit and triple h for wrestling a FULL HOUR instead of the about 10 - 20 minutes they usually do on raw

I loved JR's comment: "Benoit wouldn't be intimidated by a... chainsaw!"

 That guy is such a joke.

Kane Knight 07-27-2004 01:01 AM

He made a ton of really precious comments tho. I wish I was paying more attention. I'd remember more.

Personally, I liked it better when Benoit "cheated to become the Intercontinental Title" against RVD.

Marc the Smark 07-27-2004 01:10 AM

Another JR slip-up tonight, "Once Benoit's on topa you, it's hard to get him off" (or something like that). You think JR and Benoit have had some romantic evenings together?

Loose Cannon 07-27-2004 01:12 AM

Meh, I still like JR and I wouldn't have anyone else callling the match. He does a great job in selling the emotion. I don't usually catch the slip-ups, so I have no problem with them. Now, the King I can't stand.

Kane Knight 07-27-2004 01:23 AM

That's supposed to be emotion?

JR knows two modes...

Monotone and dull.

Screaming and hilarious.

Rock Bottom 07-27-2004 02:05 AM

Yeah pretty much. And Jerry Lawler sounds like the world is ending even when he is getting excited.

Kane Knight 07-27-2004 02:08 AM

He's always excited, and it is the end of the world. The Viagra he's pumping means every erection could be his last...His heart might explode before JR;s...

iamajstyles 07-27-2004 08:18 AM

Benoit wins, eugene helps out and he gets the fall with 6 seconds remaining. Well every1 already guessed that wwe!!!!

Loose Cannon 07-27-2004 09:46 AM

If you guys hate JR so much, just hit the mute button. The wrestlers don't talk when they are wrestling, so you won't miss anything there. You don't have to listen to him you know.

Great match by Benoit and Hunter, however it fell short of being considered one of the best IM matches because of the interference. I mean I knew the finish going in, so I wasn't shocked or anything, but it really killed the match for me. Reason being, you had 50 minutes of great work and storytelling, and the match, instead of ending decisively (which these matches should) ended because of a typical CF ending that happens on every RAW and SD. So it went form being something really special to being very ordinary. And at the end of the day, Benoit didn't really beat Hunter, Eugene beat him, so that doesn't really make Benoit seem dominant. Dont get me wrong, both guys worked great and Benoit especially was amazing with his selling, but cant we have a clean finish for sitting through a 60 minute match? I mean if they wanted to do a big CF match why not just have a typical 20 minute match and get to the point that way? Could have been an all time classic, but it fell short. Also, the lack of crowd reaction for most of the match kinda shows Iron Man matches dont work for live crowds, well at leats this one didn't.

I liked parts of the Battle Royal (stuff with Edge and Jericho was really good), but I didn't feel it was an effective way to set up Orton as the top challenger. I mean it wasn't a stand out performance like Eddie or Benoit had to eran their respective title shots, it was just a run of the mill Battle Royal. I dont know, I think it would have been better to do some kind of actually match and make Orton look really strong, rather than just throwing guys over the top rope.

Divas segments were beyond words. I mean I thought the first week was horrible, this was way way worse. Who would have thought I could hate a segment with Kamala in it? Well I did. Seriously, they need to cut bait on this thing.

So overall, even though we only got two matches, both were good, and the Iron Man was excellent (despite the finish) so a great RAW overall.

Id rather hear JR over Micheal Cole

The CyNick 07-27-2004 08:17 PM

I think JR is better than Cole on his own, but as a team I find Lawler and JR to be annoying most of the time. Tazz and Cole I find entertaining.

Heyman 07-27-2004 08:37 PM

Best RAW I've seen in YEARS!

Seriously, best show in a long ass time. The Jericho-Orton ending to the battle royal had to have been the best ending ever. The Iron Match was easily my favorite one yet, even with the interference. I know some people are gonna pissed, but they built up to it perfectly and the entire match told a great story. It was better than Angle-Lesnar, better than Rock-HHH and a little better than Hart-HBK.

The Kamala skit was pretty lame IMO, but it served as a great filler.

My interest in the WWE is peaking again. Last time I felt this good about the WWE, was in between Vengeance and Summerslam 2002 (although after Summerslam 2002 - the WWE REALLY screwed things up :foc: -).

Oh well - great show!

Innovator 07-27-2004 11:19 PM

I was thinking about the battle royal. With the final two being Jericho and Orton, mabe the WWE is still high on Jericho, considering he was the last guy in the royal before Orton won. He lasted longer than Edge, whos been pushed to the moon recently.

Maybe I'm reading into this too much, but now that HBK isn't here, wouldn't that make Jericho the No. 2 face on RAW behind Benoit? (don't mind Eugene, he isn't a title contender)

I was thinking the same thing, that would be fine with me if Jericho was the No.2 face. But i think we will see an Edge heel turn and a fued with Jericho because of the Battle Royal. My first post!!!

Opinions are like assholes,.....and I am like an opinion.

Also - hate Triple H all you want, but he performed very well in my view.

The CyNick 07-30-2004 06:09 PM

Not to hate on Hunter for no reason, but Benoit carried that match, HHH did his part, but Benoit made the match really good.

I think I ranked this one #3 in WWE Iron Man Matches (beats out HHH-Rock).
