woah, Giambi for another

The Miz 07-04-2005 06:33 PM

He's catching up to Ichiro

The Outlaw 07-04-2005 07:26 PM

lol

Loose Cannon 07-04-2005 07:33 PM

Mariners really need a win tonight. Not that they're in contention or anything. Just so they can

win one for Booney :(

The Miz 07-04-2005 11:27 PM

What the hell is wrong with Keith Foulke

MVP 07-05-2005 12:06 AM

WTF, how many blown saves does he have after tonight?

The Miz 07-05-2005 12:09 AM

at least 6

Boomer 07-05-2005 12:26 AM

Dan Kolb is still up for sale.

Yankees are up 10-0 in the 4th.

Pretty ridiculous, the starter for the Orioles gave up 10 runs, 1 earned.

The Miz 07-05-2005 02:29 PM

lol yeah wtf, every pitch Lopez threw was a belt high 92 mph fastball. Meat

BCWWF 07-05-2005 03:16 PM

You can't hit the ball without swinging the bat. Meat.

RoXer 07-05-2005 03:19 PM

Kuip, when the cutters coming over the plate, the batter has no CHANCE at that pitch.

I heard that like 5 times in a row one game.

RoXer 07-06-2005 12:44 AM

Kotsay, Oakland's center fielder, made a spectacular play in the bottom of the 11th when he faked as if he was going to catch Gabe Gross' blooper before letting it drop. He then flipped the ball from his glove to his hand and forced out Russ Adams at second.

``That's one of the best plays I've ever seen,'' Macha said. ``What a play. And clutch. It could have been first and second and nobody out. That's why people who don't see this guy everyday don't appreciate what he does. That won the ball game.''

:D fivehunderedddddddddddddd

The Miz 07-06-2005 01:02 AM

God Macha is such a stupid dickhead it's unbelievable. Hatteberg bailed you guys out but Macha made 9829862 stupid decisions

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-06-2005 01:05 AM

Timlin was 1-2-3 in the Ninth tonight. Helped by a great catch from Damon.

Foulkes days as closer might be numbered..You know its going to be all over the talkshows tomorrow

BCWWF 07-06-2005 01:11 AM

Oh my god, you should have seen the strike zone while Shields and F-Rod pitched tonight. The beginning of the game was rediculously slow, but it was like a high school ump at a Babe Ruth game.

The Outlaw 07-06-2005 06:08 PM

Schilling to closer? :|

BCWWF 07-06-2005 06:30 PM

Saw that too, it just might work

WTF?

He didn't fake catching the ball, in fact he just missed catching it and because it was so close, Russ Adams was caught in no man's land. Jesus Christ, I watched that game. Someone is gay for Kotsay

Sox: Schilling to pitch out of bullpen

BOSTON (AP) - With their struggling closer on the disabled list and their ace at partial strength, the Boston Red Sox are sending Curt Schilling to the bullpen to plug a gap there and help him work his way back from an ankle injury.

"It's definitely the best thing for him," Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein said Wednesday, " ... and it just so happens to be exactly what the team needs right now."

rest of the story

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-06-2005 10:55 PM

I don't think Schilling with close. Timlin is actually a closer, I think they will just keep using him. He has like 119 career saves.

The Outlaw 07-06-2005 11:46 PM

I could see him doing it though. Be pretty crazy.

BCWWF 07-07-2005 01:54 AM

Yeah I agree with Outlaw, I could see him being a real good closer. They might as well try it, as it sounds like they are, and then if it works out you have Timlin and Foulke able to go earlier in the games. I'm interested to see how it turns out.

RoXer 07-07-2005 01:55 AM

Cards win on a suicide squeeze.

MVP 07-07-2005 11:39 AM

Schilling will be a great closer. At this point I don't think it's a serious blow to the starters if he goes to the bullpen.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-08-2005 01:29 AM

LOL Wow. crazy day. Jay Payton basically kicked off the team, Vaquez traded for Cora. Plus a few players benched for speaking out againest Schilling in the pen. Crazy Red Sox lineup for a 6 inning game.

Dragon 07-08-2005 01:32 AM

Only 3.5 back now.

Giambi with another homerun today too.

Dragon 07-08-2005 01:36 AM

Yankees only have three starters right now though, not sure who's going to fill in for Pavano. I really can't see Sturtze going again.

The Outlaw 07-08-2005 05:06 PM

Giambi is on a roll.

YOUR Hero 07-09-2005 01:40 PM

Halladay got hit last night on the shin. Dammit. That was a terrible game to watch as a Jays fan. Not only him getting hurt, but the terrible defence by the Jays (hurry back O Dog) and their inability to mount any offence past the second inning.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-09-2005 03:26 PM

Fucking great defense by the O's today. Ortiz got robbed of a 3 run homerun by Matos and like 4 other great plays by them today.

The Miz 07-09-2005 03:54 PM

A's sign OF Mark Kotsay to a 3-year extension.

Don't work Yankees, you got a guy who hit .267 in AA now

Dragon 07-09-2005 04:20 PM

Yeah, some great plays by the Orioles today. I saw two great ones by Matos, one robbing Ortiz and then one diving one, and then one by Roberts where he went behind second to make a play.

The Yankees have Darrell May pitching today, I heard he was doing pretty awful before coming to NY. I dunno, I guess we will see.

MoRcHeEbA 07-09-2005 04:20 PM

Halladay is out for a month with a fractured shin bone.

Loose Cannon 07-09-2005 05:10 PM

god dammit. 5-2 Indians. gonna need 10 runs here.

Dragon 07-09-2005 05:17 PM

Yeah, he's pitched almost 100 pitches already.

Loose Cannon 07-09-2005 07:00 PM

7-6 now. I hate not being able to watch the games :(

OssMan 07-09-2005 10:35 PM

ALRIGHT DANNY GRAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOUR Hero 07-10-2005 01:37 PM

Too bad they needed 9 just to tie. :'(

Weird, the Twins and Royals are wearing retro uniforms today. I have no idea what the Twins uni's are, they say STPG, but I'm not sure who that would be. Back in the day we had the St. Paul Saints and the Minneapolis Millers (farm teams of the Dodgers and Giants I think). I don't think this is either of them though.

Loose Cannon 07-10-2005 04:25 PM

Sounds like a negro league tribute thing. St. Paul Gophers were from Minnie in the early 1900's.

The Miz 07-10-2005 04:28 PM

St. Paul Colored Gophers, negro leagues

Loose Cannon 07-10-2005 06:10 PM

Giambi with another. On fire

Loose Cannon 07-10-2005 06:10 PM

Giambi with another today. On fire

RoXer 07-10-2005 07:08 PM

If the A's somehow make it past the Angels for the AL west and meet the ChiSox in the playoffs, I have no fear.

YOUR Hero 07-10-2005 07:14 PM

Jays rally in the 9th again today... only to loose.

Texas

BCWWF 07-10-2005 09:49 PM

My predictions for the AL playoffs, as of right now:

White Sox
Red Sox
Red Sox win pretty easilly, lose maybe one game

Angels
Twins
Good series, obviously I am going to say Twins, but thats just me.

Anyway, I'd be pretty surprised if the Red Sox and Cards don't meet in the World Series again.

The Miz 07-10-2005 10:16 PM

Sorry Roxer but the AL West race is over. A's still have a shot at the wild card but I see the Yankees and Twins having better second halves.

RoXer 07-10-2005 10:50 PM

IF

Yeah, I don't see them toppling the Angels either but IF.

And I doubt they'll take the wild card.

Innovator 07-10-2005 10:53 PM

AL East is gonna be interesting for the 2nd half

BCWWF 07-11-2005 01:54 AM

The AL East is all fucked up now. The Red Sox are sputtering for no reason, the Yankees are randomly surging, and the Orioles are just sitting right in the middle. In the end, I think the Red Sox are the most complete and most together team, so I predict them coming out of there.

The Miz 07-11-2005 03:14 PM

Boston gets:
RP Chad Bradford

Oakland gets:
OF Jay Payton

Great trade for the Red Sox, their pen sucks and Bradford kills righties. And Payton is pretty much useless for them. Oakland is apparently going to either immediately trade Payton to the Rockies or Yankees; or trade Eric Byrnes somewhere, maybe the Giants. I think trading Byrnes is stupid, but if they can get a quality reliever or a RH bat for Payton they should do it.

BCWWF 07-11-2005 03:24 PM

Yeah I'm a fan of Byrnes too, I would hope they keep him in Oakland.

RoXer 07-11-2005 04:17 PM

Hmmm. Isn't Bradford still on the DL? Too lazy to check.

The Miz 07-11-2005 04:32 PM

He's making rehab appearances in AAA. With Street Duke Calero and Yabu they're pretty much set for righty relief.

The Miz 07-11-2005 05:09 PM

Booney signed with the Twins.

Thank god he signed with somebody who I don't hate. If he would've signed with the Rangers or Yankees or somebody I would've choked myself.

RoXer 07-11-2005 05:16 PM

Boone to the Twins for cash and a player to be named later I think.

BCWWF 07-11-2005 06:09 PM

I think Boone might fit in pretty well here. Hopefully at least. His glove will be a big addition as well. I'm interested to see how it turns out. The Twins still need to do more though.

Loose Cannon 07-13-2005 08:41 PM

Awesome segment on Baseball Tonight. I hope they show it again later so I can tape it. Basically they highlighted some ofl the great defensive players of all-time and showed some what would of been considered web gems before there was a "web gem" segment.

I like how they mentioed a few 1900 guys like Wagner and Speaker.

The Miz 07-14-2005 12:34 AM

Rockies get:
Eric Byrnes
minor leaguer

A's get:
Joe Kennedy
Jay Witasick

Damn. I'll miss Byrnes. Shitty trade for the A's

The Miz 07-14-2005 12:39 AM

Although Eric Byrnes will be a fucking star in Denver

RoXer 07-14-2005 12:44 AM

:(

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-14-2005 12:44 AM

Good player but I hated watching him all the time. I couldnt stand watching him catch shit he shouldn't have againest the Red Sox. Glad he's in the NL now haha

RoXer 07-14-2005 12:44 AM

What "minor leaguer" The Miz?

RoXer 07-14-2005 12:45 AM

Wish the D-Backs would have went after him in the off-season.

RoXer 07-14-2005 12:49 AM

FIGURES! I have Byrnes and Quintinella's autograph on the same ball.

BCWWF 07-14-2005 01:51 AM

I guess you can't really take forgranted the player to be named. In trading AJ Pierzynski to the Giants two years ago, the player to be names was Francisco Lariano, who is apparently better then Santana at this point in his career.

The Miz 07-14-2005 02:09 PM

Byrnes makes web gems almost every time he plays the field but he is pretty shitty defensively. The reason he has to dive is because he gets horrible jumps and he takes horrible routes to balls. But he was alot of fun to watch even though he was a moron. Colorado will be a better suit for him, he really didn't play "A's style" baseball. I expect him to hit about .310 with 30 homers and 30 steals next year

The Miz 07-14-2005 02:10 PM

I just realized Oakland has now gotten rid of all the guys that either choked or did something really stupid in the playoffs. Byrnes, Tejada, Jeremy Giambi, Terrance Long, Mark Mulder

BCWWF 07-14-2005 04:07 PM

The Miz, A's or M's?

Dragon 07-14-2005 06:17 PM

Damn, Yankees put Wang on the DL. Basically down to Mussina and Johnson now in the starting rotation.

CNM 07-14-2005 09:09 PM

I like the Byrnes trade for the Rockies. Apparently Quintanilla is a pretty good prospect.

Yeah but Quintinilla is a 2B and they already have Barmes, they really needing pitching which Oakland's farms are deep in. I like the pick up of Byrnes though. Now that the old guys are gone the Rockies should be fun to watch with Barmes, Byrnes, Holliday and crew

Loose Cannon 07-14-2005 09:18 PM

haha, I'm the same. Just replace the Yanks with the M's. I have an A's sweatshirt I wear all the time.

I like the A's so much because they're just a bunch of young guys having fun. I remember back like two years ago, they did a segment on ESPN with Zito, Mulder, Chavez and one of the relief guys and they were all at someone's house playing basketball, throwing each other in the pool, playing the guitars, racing bikes and I remember thining how much these guys ruled.

Yeah it's true they have Barmes but I don't think they'll move him from SS to 2B until their 2005 first round draft pick (Troy Tulowitski) is ready. From what I've heard Quintanilla could be our starting 2B next year. Aaron Miles sucks.

Loose Cannon 07-14-2005 10:16 PM

haha. yes. fuck you Schilling

A-ROD:

Dragon 07-14-2005 10:17 PM

Nice, 6-6 in the ninth and then Schilling comes in and gives up a 2 run homer to A-Rod. Still no outs.

Loose Cannon 07-14-2005 10:29 PM

Rivera. Lights. Out

Dragon 07-14-2005 10:30 PM

Rivera strikes out the last three. Pretty big win for the Yankees with Tim Redding and his 0-5 record and over 9.00 ERA pitching tomorrow.

The Miz 07-14-2005 10:31 PM

LOL nice one Schilling. Where was Jesus for you on that one?

YOUR Hero 07-14-2005 10:43 PM

Miz is right about Byrnes and his poor jumps and shitty routes to fly balls. Once he looses half a step, he'll be a huge liability in the field... unless of course he learns to read the flight of the ball better off the bat.

OssMan 07-14-2005 10:44 PM

lol great example of how Manny Ramirez sucks in the field, he tried to make a sliding catch but did it like 5ft away from the ball but Cano was dum and tried to have a triple and Manny just flipped it to third and got the assist

That's not exactly an outlandish prediction. The Red Sox won the world series last year and we don't know how the White Sox will do in the second half

Rich Harden has a perfect game through 6 against Texas

lol the second ESPN goes live to the game Soriano gets a hit.

Probably going to the game tomorrow and the day after. After this weekend, events I will have witnessed:

Edgar Martinez' final game
Ichiro's record breaking 258th hit
Ken Griffey Jr.'s 350th home run
Rafael Palmeiro's 3000th hit
