God I am thinking about it... the NFC seems real awful this year. Who is going to be good? The Cowboys... the Giants... I think that is it.
|
Remember when the most obnoxious Eagles fan ever (I know, that's saying something) used to post here? Like... way beyond typical Eagles fan. It wasn't legend. I can't remember his name.

I'm thinking the NFC playoff teams will be Dallas, Green Bay, New Orleans, Seattle, Philadelphia, and Minnesota. Just off the top of my head. I think there will be some pretty good teams in that pack but compared to the AFC, yeah, it's a drop off. |
Is Strahan really coming out of retirement, come on.

Nest season... The Atlanta Falcons... will go 8-8 and contend late for a playoff spot. I think Matt Ryan is that good. |
lol
|
Honestly, the NFC East could easily be a toss up. It all depends on who can stay healthy and so far the Giants are losing that battle.
|
Saying the Giants won't make the playoffs this year is really dumb IMO.
And it seems like everyone is saying it. I don't understand that at all. I think like 98% they will make the playoffs. The NFC is awful and they are a really good team. The Osi injury is big but it's not going to destroy the entire team. |
Its not even the loss of Osi and the production (13 sacks last year, team high) but the whole mental aspect of it.

|
Because by the end of the year and into the playoffs they were the hottest/best team in football? And the rest of the NFC is awful? There is no way 6 teams from the NFC will be better than them this year.

Assuming they don't win the division (Which I definitely can't see them doing) there only needs to be two teams that didn't win their division better than them. I think Philly will get in as a wild card as well as either Minnesota or Green Bay. |
Quote:
however, the rest of the team is pretty suspect... not sure if they have enough tools around them yet... |
That's why i give them a year for some serious playoff buzz. I think next year, they will be what Houston was last year.
|
They need to pick up a big play receiver though

Before this, they had 9 LB but likely only 7 spots. Kiwi, Pierce, Wilkinson, Clark, DeOssie, Kehl, Goff, Blackburn, and Daniels. Now Kiwi's back to DE...and Goff might have to go on IR or the PUP list or something, so all of them probably are safe now.</font> |

Here we go Tuck

depending on Tarvaris Jackson |
Yeah, exactly.
Also, Tatupu left the Hawks game on crutches, which is awesome for the Rams. |
Quote:
THEY HAVE NO O-LINE Also, they lost every single "super star" they had.. Vick, Hall, Crumpler, and Dunn.. Yeah, they got a good second string RB who has the potential to be great, but he hasn't proven that he is an elite back as of yet.. Same can be said for Ryan.. Sure he was good in college, but so was Danny Wuerffel.. |
Saints released FB Kevin Dudley yesterday.. It's sad cause he a beast, but Mike Karney is beastier.. Dudley was on our practice squad all last year.. If any team needs a good solid true full back, he'd prolly be a steal..
:( |
David Carr is such a good qb. I can't believe no team would make him their starting QB. His problem was that his team sucked, it's like saying a pitcher is bad because he lost 15 games
|
I've always thought he could play well given the chance with a decent team, but the poor guy had the unfortunate situation of being on a team where he got the shit kicked out of him year in and year out. During the Browns game the announcers had mentioned that Carr was admittedly skittish in the pocket and tried to get rid of the ball as quick as possible due to the amount of times he used to get hit. Imagine if he had the chance to start with a decent line in front of him what he might be able to do.
Thats why I've always thought that the NFL requires a little bit of luck. You need the talent, but you need the luck to fall into the right situation to succeed as well. |
The point I was trying to make was that Carr was good in college.. He even took Fresno State to a top 10 ranking.. He was hyped coming into the league, picked in the first round, and def had (or has) the skills to win in the NFL.. But he never got there because of the shitty team around him.. For people to say how great the Falcons are gonna be when they lost every "superstar" they've had this decade, have a new, first time, head coach, no receiving corp, no defense, and their biggest offensive weapons are a second year RB, and potentially good, yet unproven backup RB, and an unproven rookie QB, I def wouldn't grantee too many "great" things from them for the next few years..
|
I'm gunna puke if Jeff Saturdays knee injury is serious. Next to Peyton, he's the most important player on our offense.
|
Breaking news, Strahan elects to stay retired. Awesome.
|
<font color=goldenrod>Dammit :(
Ah well, Kiwi's gonna be on the line, which is good. Gotta hope Wynn or Tollefson can step in as a solid 3rd DE. Pencil Strahan in for the HOF Class of 2013</font> |

|
But is still unproven..
It just amazes that a team striped of any bit of credibility, with no stars left, people are picking to be great within the next year.. As I've said numerous times, sure they gained Turner, who has the potential to be good, but has never been a premiere back.. Same with Ryan.. He is a good QB, but hasn't proven himself at the pro level.. That topped with the fact they have no out standing WR, lost their probowl TE to the Titans, have a struggling o-line, and lost the only shutdown player they had on defense (Hall), I just don't see how people are crowning them as a great team with so many unporven elements, and loosing what proven elements they had.. |
Quote:
I'm not picking the Falcons to be great, but I wouldn't be shocked to see them compete for a WC or possible the division. I'm just not 100% sold on anyone in that division and it's not just Ryan for me, it's Turner, any SD fan I've talked to thinks he can be just as good as LT, maybe even better... sure, he could be a bust, but so could everyone... the OL issues are a good point and I hope that will be a target next year, but Ryan is a big guy and can take a hit. fuck... is it week 1 yet.. |
Out with the old, in with the new for the Falcons.
Curtis Lofton looks to be a beast this year. Roddy White should do well considering he caught 1000 yards with the QBs we had last year. Sam Baker looks to contribute immediately. Jerious Norwood is ridiculous as a change-of-pace back. There is so much to like about this Falcons team for me. I mean, D. Hall left, what's not to like? |

|
I'm really not going to argue my feeling that Atlanta is about a year away from crawling out of the basement. I'm just VERY high on Matt Ryan and think he is a player an entire team can be built around, they should be able to run the ball and I think they could make strides on defense. They've got some pretty good players. Like Houston just kinda quietly became a team to talk about last year, I feel like Atlanta is the team to do the same next year.
As for this year, I can see them winning a couple games that will catch people's eye but ultimately finishing last in the division probably. Who knows though. |
Personally, I hate Hall (specially the spitting shit) but he is a badass shutdown corner..
|
David Carr played for Carolina last year when Delhomme went down and was absolutely awful. The guy can't play in the NFL, maybe he could've once upon a time but not now.
Also if Hall is so great why did Steve Smith toast him every single game they played? |
Every CB gets scored on now and again..
|
Yeah but he played him twice a year for however many years. Smith got him EVERY TIME.
Hall is the ultimate hype player. Mouth over substance. He'll probably look like he played real well this year but only because teams just won't throw at Asomugha. |
Horn and Colston used to also eat him up.. The point I was trying to make, who else on their D was of that caliber??
Keith Brooking?? Pat Kerney?? They got rid of every superstar they had.. That was the point.. |
Getting rid of the Falcon's "superstars" made sense. Whether they were past their prime or whether we were trying to save some money, they all made sense. I love Dunn and Crumpler, but their best years both look to be behind them (Dunn for sure). D. Hall was a pain and would have commanded far too much money. The Falcons needed new faces and got them.
And its not like every superstar is gone. Michael Boley and John Abraham are still around. Brooking is too, though past his prime. Luckily, he'll be playing weak side because of Curtis Lofton, so he doesn't have to be the center of our LB core anymore. Here's to hoping this is a breakout year for White. Turner too. |
Dunn is past his prime but getting rid of Crumpler was a mistake IMO..
And about Boley, if he can keep his hitting of people on the field he'll be alright.. Odell Thurman of the South.. |
Odell Thurman did go to UGA, so I'm not sure that moniker works...but I get the idea
|
He now plays in the north..
I like Boley cause he went to Southern, but that off the feild shit needs to go, if he's ever gonna be a premiere player.. |
Correction...Thurman doesn't play anywhere...but I still get the idea...again.
|
|
<font color=goldenrod>Shawne Merriman is foregoing surgery and playing this season.
Fucking idiot.</font> |
Yeah, seriously. When he's failing physicals with other teams @ like 28, he's gonna look back and be a sorry boy
|
What a dumb human being this guy is. I hope not only that Chargers lose, but that his career is ended for being some fucking dumb. What a moron. I love the Chargers organization letting him do this too. No one has stepped in and said " listen, you arent playing. You need to get the surgery ". I mean they only have multi millions invested in his career right? I cant wait until this ends badly and then 5 years from now we get a Real Sports interview with Merriman as he coaches high school football for a living.
|
I wish Norv Turner had balls enough and would be like "Shut up, you're not playing. Sit down, bitch.".
Retarded. Seriously. |
Its his own career. So be it.

Must admit, if someone pancakes him and he blows out the knee and has to be carted off, it would be a bad time for the OL to do a "lights out" dance. |

Jeff Saturday is gone for 6 to 11 weeks and possibly the season. Fuck my white smelly ass. This is horrible. This is arguably the biggest loss in the NFL. Polian looks like a genius now cause he drafted 3 Centers in the draft.

C'mon that was coming. After all this time. If Goodell didn't do it by now he is just an unforgiving bastard.

lol, the Cowboys signing Adam Pacman Jones is such a Cowboys move. Like the most predictable thing ever. There is no way for him to be on the Cowboys without something hilarious happening.
|
lol. "Such a Cowboys move"
 |
Yeah and winning the Superbowl is a Giants move

While, changing quotes is quite the effective method of arguing via the internet, the simple fact is, the Saints have had more success in the past decade than the Cowboys.. Even blowing them the fuck out during our last meeting, where Mike "the Bulldozer" Karney scored 4 TD's.. All this with years of Arron Brooks and Ricky Williams, etc.. So, live in the past all you want, just remember this when Brokeback Romo fucks up another playoff game for you..
|
Atleast we've made it past the wildcard game in the past 10 years..
• Jan. 6, 2007 - NFC Wild Card - Seattle 21, Dallas 20 • Jan. 3, 2004 - NFC Wild Card - Carolina 29, Dallas 10 • Jan. 9, 2000 - NFC Wild Card - Minnesota 27, Dallas 10 • Jan. 2, 1999 - NFC Wild Card - Arizona 20, Dallas 7 |

I echo Assman's sentiments, let I remind you all that the Giants are defending Superbowl champions. Game. Set. Match.

I like you're theories. "I'll argue 'What's the point of making it to the playoffs if you don't win' but I'll ignore 'What's the point of winning a playoff game is you don't even win a conference championship'" And my favorite "I'll argue 'living in the past' but then, more recently my team missed the playoffs while his didn't, so I don't wanna live in the present either... I just wanna live in that one small piece of time where my team was seemingly better and act like, for some reason, THAT is the time period that matters above all else." |
Now you know what it's like losing your best players to injury, RP.

lol. Offensive linemen always look hilarious out of uniform...
