Going back to Kalyx's comparison, Andre The Giant wrestling in an a new match type that wasn't created during the time he was alive is fine. Andre The Giant wearing pink blouses, a rainbow afro, and performing the People's Elbow as his special move while in these matches is not.

Kurt Cobain playing modern hits with other created band members or legends is fine. Kurt Cobain playing right handed and wiggitywiggity rapping is not.

Simple Solution. Don't make Cobain your singer on those songs! :roll:

I'm confused as to where the line is, honestly. Like, okay, him scratching is bad. What if I have him as the vocalist for some whiny emo son...Bad example. What if I have him as my vocalist when I play "Old Time Rock 'n'Roll?" Can he do the slide? Is it okay if he sings "I'm only happy when it rains?" Scratching is wrong, but mincing and prancing and singing like a girl is okay? Perhaps there are other genres and acts that should be off limits.

Also, I think everyone is complaining about Cobain because it hits closer to home for them. Mostly 20somethings and younger are playing this game and were probably affected by grunge movement. Hence all the backlash.

The issue seems to be being made because Kurt Cobain always had issues with the shallow state of the music business. Essentially, a lot of his fans are pissed because they feel this would be something Kurt Cobain would have hated, and would have been 100% against. They see this as totally against his ideals, and essentially as a slap in his face.

I dunno, being that the crazy parts are all slider notes, I was able to survive ok.

I know I said I wasn't gonna do covers but sue. Doing an updated cover of "The Game", this time with a more 'GH-like' note structure (basically little mix ups in the riffs to stave boredom). Also adding a solo after the song loops (after the 'Spit Water-ah!' bridge). Listening to Motorhead stuff to get an idea of how they would solo the song. Also adding licks that's in the actual song that goes unnoticed. Give me a while with this one.

It's like, I get the idea, but the rest seems silly. Like, first off, we're talking about a game where his music was already licensed. Seems pretty hypocritical right there, especially since the main draw of having his music in the game is because we're talking top forty hits. People are arguing what they claim Kurt would have wanted mostly because they put him on a pedestal mostly in a way contrary to their belief of his ideals.

Personally, I think he was a corporate shill marketing counter-culture, so I don't give a shit. Offing himself ensured he was an icon, more or less permanently, so it seems really dumb to argue his ideals when his final act was basically to become the sort of shallow media icon his beliefs opposed.

Of course, maybe they're all retards and believe the Cuntney love theory, and therefore can justify it, but it's still stupid.

Even though one of my favorite songs in the whole wide world is on it, and that there is 2% chance of the song coming as DLC to anything, come release day I am putting it for trade on Goozex. It's fun the first run through, but I see no replay in VH. I'm not familiar with 98% of their songs and I don't see myself putting in the game just to play that one song.

But send it to me first and I'll Goozex it under your name.

61 songs from the Band Hero setlist will import to GH5 on release. it would appear to be a official press release.


It looks like the 4 songs that won't import into GH5 are the 3 Taylor Swift songs and the 1 Maroon 5 song. Not a huge loss IMO.

The GH forums said it will cost about 420 MS points. Will probably have to have the game manual like the other GH games for the unique code.

Gonna try to rent Band Hero before anybody else and use the manual code.

My guess is they had a DLC pack deal and said, "Fuck it, put it in the game we're making because we copyrighted a name preemptively."

So I had to exchange my guitar bundle at TRU for a new one because the guitar didn't work correctly. I mailed in the new receipt with the new sticker on the box, seeing if it'll work, and the GHVH website says it's valid and I'll get another copy in 4-6 weeks. :cool:
