They seriously need to take Schilling out.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-12-2004 10:41 PM

Damn I figured Schilling would pitch a gem tonight

Sucks, now even more pressure will be on Pedro tomorrow...can't start out down 2 games

The Miz 10-12-2004 10:55 PM

WTF why is Pedro starting tomorrow? If the Red Sox lose tomorrow they are fucked, they'll be down 2-0 with their season riding on Wakefield and Arroyo. They should pitch one of those guys tomorrow, so even if they lose they have Pedro at home for Game 3.

The Miz 10-12-2004 10:56 PM

lol @ Schilling btw

"there is no better feeling than shutting up millions of New York fans"

Good job backing up your words champ :y:

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-12-2004 10:56 PM

The whole series IS riding on tomorrow though, if they start 0-2 you can pretty much forget about it

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-12-2004 10:58 PM

Honestly though, I figured Schilling would get like 1 or 2 ER but maybe still end up losing because Mussina would pitch a great game. Mussina is the only starting pitcher on the Yankees staff that impresses at all, so its not like its the end of world after 1 game.

Get don't wrong me though, I really hope I am wrong if the series goes to 0-2 but I don't know. 2003 Oakland A's and 2004 New York Yankees are two completely different teams.

The Miz 10-12-2004 11:01 PM

Yeah I know, I'm just saying you shouldn't count the Red Sox out if they go down 0-2. They take 2 at Fenway and it's a brand new series

Dragon 10-12-2004 11:03 PM

4 straight strike outs for Mussina.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-12-2004 11:05 PM

Mussina is a dick, I was hoping the Twins series would go to five games then Mussina would have to pitch again, then not be able to start off the ALCS

Nice Job BCWWF, your dickhead Twins can win the central divison like 10 years in a row but they can't even get a series to 5 games?

# of runs Red Sox are currently trailing by: 3
# of runs Manny Ramirez' defense has cost them: 3

Defense ins championships, no matter what the sport

The Outlaw 10-13-2004 12:53 AM

You could say that he cost them Godzilla's during the first inning as well. And the three off of Bernie's triple.

Apprentice 10-13-2004 12:59 AM

The Red Sox... such a tease.

Jerichoholic 10-13-2004 01:03 AM

Being able to manage a bull pen also wins championships

Francona should've pulled Timlin and brought in Myers to face Matsui and Foulke to face Williams.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-13-2004 01:09 AM

Damn ridiculous

Hopefully this was a good sign though, once Mussina was out of the game things turned around. Mussina is the only good thing the Yankees starting pitching staff has going for them so hopefully the rest of the games will be just like how the last few innings of todays game was.

BabyHugger 10-13-2004 03:04 AM

What a waste of as night, Redsox are such cunts for not coming all the way back.

VonErich Lives 10-13-2004 04:35 AM

Good game to watch... and that's why it's a 7 game series. I figured we'd split the games in NY, so I still could be right on that one.

I don't care what Schill says, he's injured and he pitched like it. His push off was different, his speed was off.

and no, you don't hold Pedro back till game #3... you pitch your best pitchers as often as you can and in the case of Pedro he's youe #2 pitcher, I don't care that Arroyo had a better september.

Pedro thrives on this stuff, pressure, and the crazy yankee fans. My only concern is, he'll only be good 100 pitches... who is going to come out of the pen? I didn't like how little used the pen last night... Schill gone that early, he should have gone to Lowe, intead of using every guy in the pen, unless he figured they'd be ok since the extra days rest from the ALDS.

game #2 tonight, should be another good game.

Really, game #1 was a must win for the yanks, it's their best pitcher in their park. The sox just need a split to change the homefield advantage.

Loose Cannon 10-13-2004 10:15 AM

lol at Miz and lol at Sox fans expecting a comeback. Have it.

Matsui should of caught Ortiz's ball IMO. It was in and out.

Good Game though. I had to turn away when Ortiz came up. Nervous as hell and then I threw the remote when Matsui dropped it.

Yeah, I gotta admit there were all these calls to local radio "we're going to sweep the yanks"..

ok, first... unless your a player, manager or heck even a ticket taker... it's not "we".

Second, no, we won't the Yanks have a good team and a lot of big time players who have done it under pressure time and time again.

My whole case for the Sox winning is SP, which is the same way the Yanks have won in the past, yes... they had good hitting, but it was SP, Defense and the Pen.

Now, take away Schill... assuming he's injured... it's a whole different series... That being said, last year we were 5 outs away w/o schill and foulke. So, if the old Pedro is back like his last start, and Wake has always done well against the Yanks... Lowe wasn't "great" last year... so who knows...

So yeah, it's only 1 game... Didn't the Sox win game #1 last year?

Yeah, Matsui should have caught that and on the flip side, Manny should have made that player... either dive or come in deeper so you can cut it on one bounce.

Oh yeah, notice that Rivera stat? blown 7 of like 22 saves against the sox 14 of 175 against the rest... (Hope Wadding caught that) :)

MrMeJW 10-13-2004 12:16 PM

Also, what was up with the home plate ump last night... he had a bunch of bullshit calls

Loose Cannon 10-13-2004 02:23 PM

Nah, I use "we" when talking about the Yanks and so do a lot of people. It's just an association of pride to the state/city you live in. It's "your" team and it's a sense of belongness. Everybody does that.

However, if you live in like Kansas and you use "we" when talking about the Yankees, I find that weird.

Manny should have cought alot of balls.

Loose Cannon 10-13-2004 02:27 PM

and yes I saw the stat, but you know what. One of the Sox, I want to say Veritec, was like 1-25 or something at the Stadium and he hit a homer. I think that was the stat, could be wrong.

What I'm trying to say is stats mean crap sometimes because it's a new day and a new game.

You always here things like "oh he's 1-43 against him" and then the guy hits a homer. I don't take those stats into account that much.

yeah, Teck hadn't hit in yankee stadium all year.

The funny thing is, the NY I've talked to are ripping Torre for not leabing Mussina in to face Teck...

Anyway, just got a call... instead of one ticket for Saturday, I got two tickets for Sunday (assuming the Sox don't get swept), there's still a chance I may go Saturday also...

I'll be either front or 2nd row, next to the Yankees dugout... So... do I wear the "Porsada is a little bitch" or "Jeters Sucks A Rod"...

naah, I wouldn't wear either there... while I find both funny, and I'll be on someones case... normally it's whoever in Left but Matsui isn't fun... so I'll probably rag on Bernie... or maybe Jeter... although, I've said it before and I'll say it again... I'd give up just about anyone for Derek Jeter... it's not just that he's a good player, cause let's be honest his fielding ain't the best... But the guy is clutch and goes 100% every single play. W/ the possible exception of Mattingly, he's the only Yankee who's Jersey I've ever wanted...

Loose Cannon 10-13-2004 03:02 PM

Nah, Mussina was finished. I would of taken him out. I kind of had a feeling he would hit the homer. It just seemed like it would happen.

Who would of thought Lofton would be the winning run of that game though? I was saying to myself how they should have brought Sierra in after they took Schilling out to take Lofton's place. I shutup after that.

yep, we can look at stats and tendencies, etc.. etc.. but ya never know.

The talk/rumor is here that curt might be done, not just for the series, but if the sox advance the season and the surgery he needs is putting a rod in his ankle...

sounds to me and looking at the way he's changed his pitching and reacts an achelies injury... the question is to what degree... of course, this is all complete speculation because the sox and schill wont say anything.

Champion of Europa 10-13-2004 06:22 PM

That was a hot game. It was tearing me up.

VonErich Lives 10-13-2004 06:59 PM

Wow, breaking news... Curt Schilling needs surgery, still hopes to start game #5...

Like thats a shock, anyone following w/ 1/2 a brain knew he's need surgery for 3/4 of the season.

Innovator 10-13-2004 07:35 PM

the Sox are morons if they let Schilling start when he needs surgery.

Everyone can look at stats, but who honestly thought that last year Aaron Boone would be the x-factor?

Go Yankees

Yep... The thing w/ schill it's the same injury he's had all year. The problem from what they're saying is the way they had taped it most the year, isn't securing the same and isn't allowing him to push off... that it's more of a mechanics thing then pain.

I dunno, not worried... they lose, they lose... but what I look at is last year, Sox were 5 outs away.

They have a better closer, better defense, you could argue hitting is the same or better then last year.

If Pedro can be the same Pedro as last year, which was good, not great.
Wake is still Wake
Arroyo is pitching better the Lowe did
Lowe just needs to pitch the same or better the Burkett, who pitched the game of his life for like 5-6innings last year.

Anythings possible...

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-13-2004 09:11 PM

LETS GO SOXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
