WTF is going on over there?

Poit 08-22-2015 11:01 PM

What's happening in the crowd?

Feel like I have seen that happen before but can't recall an exact time.

Poit 08-22-2015 11:02 PM

From reddit: "FYI the crowd was cheering because they let the guys who threw the streamers back in"

Cena vs Orton for the WWE/World unification match?

Might have been another one recently as well. Maybe even the same match that had to be stopped early because either the hook was too low or too high.

Poit 08-22-2015 11:11 PM

Ah, yeah, I forgot about that.

DaveWadding 08-22-2015 11:13 PM

Christ, that was a helluva powerbomb.

DAMN iNATOR 08-22-2015 11:14 PM

Wait...was Bayley really wearing "Tribute to Dusty" polka dots? I mean, it's very sweet and thoughtful and whatnot, but wouldn't it have been more topical if she could've worn something to honor Piper?

It does suck I don't have the Network...sounds like she put on another hell of a match tonight...hopefully by early next week there'll be a full-length match vid on YT so I can see the excellence I so clearly missed.

Lock Jaw 08-22-2015 11:15 PM

Someone PM me where to watch this for free on the internet.... thanks....

Piper wasn't the head writer of NXT.

#1-norm-fan 08-22-2015 11:16 PM

She was probably pretty close with Dusty since he was a big part of NXT.

Just a wristband. and Dusty worked more with the NXT kids than anyone. That's why they're having a Dusty Rhodes Memorial Tag Tournament.

#1-norm-fan 08-22-2015 11:16 PM

Yes. What Poit said.

Yeah, but I'd put an asterisk on that, because the "Ascension Ceremony" (stupid name, worse concept) was held on RAW before TLC in December 2013.

#1-norm-fan 08-22-2015 11:17 PM

And Wadding.

Knew that, was just thinking aloud. Still cool she did it though, obviously. :y:

Of course I forget the match I watched as part of the live audience.

What Smely Meatball said.

<font color=goldenrod>Owens is going to be fucking hurting tomorrow, especially when he wrestles Cesaro.</font>

VSG 08-22-2015 11:20 PM

Sigh that divas match took me out of the main event, even though it was a really good match also.

Owens is a massive beast though, first this and then Cesaro tomorrow!

Emperor Smeat 08-22-2015 11:21 PM

Good main event but wow those ladders gave no leeway at all during the match. Wouldn't blame the WWE at all if they drop Owens-Cesaro tomorrow just to be on the safe side for Owens health.

I agree. The ladder match was good, but it wasn't as good as the women's match.

Been a while since I've seen you around...welcome back. :D

Evil Vito 08-22-2015 11:27 PM

<font color=goldenrod>I also think it took me a while to get into the main because of how good the women's match was.

Probably should have tossed Corbin/Joe in between the two title matches. The cooldown match is a very real concept.</font>

Damian Rey 08-22-2015 11:46 PM

Absolutely excellent ladder match that actually built to the guys climbing the ladder. Feels like they didn't even have an attempt till the third act of the match.

But yeah, that women's match would've been better placed in the middle of the card. I was emotionally gassed by the time the main event hit. They did do a good job of playing some video package filler to try and reload the crowd, but alas, those awesome ladies left me ready for bed.

Another note, NXT and Triple H and co once more out sports entertaining WWE. I've said several times, but if and when Triple H takes the reigns, I have high hopes for great things.

Droford 08-23-2015 12:39 AM

Two main events were probably better than just about everything they'll put on tomorrow night

GD 08-23-2015 12:42 AM

Is it weird that I teared up a little at the end of the Women's title match?

GD 08-23-2015 12:48 AM

Also the referee. GOD DAMN!

Fignuts 08-23-2015 12:49 AM

In hindsight, women's match should have been main event, but I can understand why it wasn't.

Only a matter of time until the women are the actual main event if they keep having matches like that.

Liger/Breeze was great fun, and a perfect choice for an opener. I know Tyler needs a win, but they may have plans to bring Liger in again. In that case, I would say Liger was the right choice so the people who don't really know him can get behind him. Then he can drop the win back to tyler later, and it will mean a lot more than it would have now.

Corbin vs Joe was a good smash mouth fight. Enjoyed it, even if Corbin is still pretty rough around the edges.

Loved the tag match. Both teams really impressed. Big fan of the outcome.

Apollo Crews was cool I guess. Actually like Tye Dillinger more. Fucking haircut is brilliant.

Ladder match was good and all. Just lacked the emotion of the women's match, which is why I feel it fell just short of match of the night.

All in all, another fantastic Takeover. Honestly doubting Summerslam can top this, but we'll see.

I had THE FEELS too, Guru Dave.

Droford 08-23-2015 12:56 AM

All I could think was..how long before either Bayley/Sara Lee tag team or they wrestle each other

Corndad 08-23-2015 01:03 AM

That Woman's match was amazing. Best Woman's Match I've seen in years. Outdid Nattie/Charlotte imo. That reverse ending was sick. Ladder Match was pretty great as well. SummerSlam will have to do a lot to top this.

VSG 08-23-2015 01:12 AM

I feel bad for Emma, she deserved to be used properly on the main roster. But having her on NXT again means more excellent divas matches.

el bobbo 08-23-2015 01:34 AM

That women's match was fucking on point. Wow.

Lock Jaw 08-23-2015 01:59 AM

Just watched this event...

Bayley/Banks match was very good.... very emotionally invested in the match even though it was "obvious" that Bayley was winning.... Still have Bayley theme stuck in my head....

Ladder match was ok too, but not as good.

Also felt "joy in my heart" at hearing a large arena go nuts for a chick literally named "Blue Pants".....

DAMN iNATOR 08-23-2015 02:13 AM

Bet Batista wishes his own experience with blue colored gear had only gone so well, LOL.

Dark One 08-23-2015 03:14 AM

Amazing show. I'm not sure if it was just being in a HUGE arena for an NXT show that made it feel like a "Wrestlemania" show for NXT due to the scale difference, but it definitely had that aura.

It's bizarre how well the "indie" crowd scaled to a 15000 person show. Like, who would have ever thought "Blue Pants" would get a massive pop in a 15k-seat arena?

I don't really like Bayley (COME AT ME BROS), because I just don't feel like she's on the same level as the other "Four Horsewomen" but it was an incredible match that made me care about seeing her win, even if they almost died a few times.

Ladder match didn't quite hit the same bar, but it was good.

If WWE runs more of these day-before-a-big-PPV NXT in a giant arena shows, they're going to run a very real risk of a very peculiar problem: their "developmental" show is going to be a better product putting on better shows in front of a better, more engaged crowd of the same size as their "big PPV."

I'm not sure how exactly you handle that.

Damian Rey 08-23-2015 03:40 AM

Easy. You let the guy running the ship for your "minor league" program run the ship for the majors as well and buy new wallets as the money flows in.
