That was cool

Savio 02-28-2017 10:07 PM

Wonder if Harper was legit supposed to hit Styles in to Shane but botched.

Evil Vito 02-28-2017 10:10 PM

So two weeks after looking like they were going to take things in an interesting, unexpected direction.....they end up having Randy once again do the whole "turn on the clueless heel" thing anyway, and in an incredibly rushed fashion.

Shane will surely now reinstate Orton's title match, nullifying Styles winning #1 contendershiph. This leads to the best wrestler in the company having to sell the shitty punches of a 47-year old non-wrestler at the biggest show of the year.

And Luke Harper goes from looking like he'd be in the WWE Title match to having no apparent program and likely battle royal fodder.

Somehow, they've managed to make me not care about the WrestleMania programs for most of my favorite SmackDown wrestlers.

Was wondering the same. Looked weird as Styles didn't move out of the way, and Harper looked like he just "kicked around him" and hit Shane.

Lock Jaw 02-28-2017 10:15 PM

Noam Dar wins on 205 Live! Alicia FAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU really distracted from the match, though......

I love Tozawa

Silly Harper, getting over on your own. There's only room for one babyface in this angle... the pyromaniac.

Emperor Smeat 02-28-2017 11:11 PM

Looks like Shane implied Styles lost his guaranteed title shot vs Bray at Mania because of Orton on Talking Smack tonight. Styles implied he wasn't going to negotiate at all for something different.

slik 02-28-2017 11:15 PM

yes...so dumb

Vastardikai 02-28-2017 11:18 PM

So basically, the previous two weeks were just a grandiose waste of time?

slik 02-28-2017 11:20 PM

no they were to set up AJ vs Shane...I guess (shrugs shoulders)

Poit 02-28-2017 11:26 PM

If we take everything said in that ending segment as canonically true:
  • Abigail is/was Satan's sister. This makes Bray Wyatt either the brother of Satan, or Satan himself.
  • Abigail, despite apparently being a demon, was somehow killed. Even more, her spirit was somehow bound to her body upon or after her death. After her burial under the Wyatt Family compound, and her body decomposed and was consumed by worms and maggots, her soul remained - either bound to the location itself or within the worms and maggots there.
  • Orton burning the shed and the worms/maggots somehow both releases Abigail's soul from the compound and condemns her to eternal damnation.

I'm genuinely curious how much of the Bray Wyatt character is actually planned, and how much is just made up as they go along.

Poit 02-28-2017 11:31 PM

Also, Randy Orton may have burned a cameraman alive.

Vastardikai 02-28-2017 11:32 PM

I would be intrigued if Bray ran into Barry Orton, and they did a bit with the Zodiak.

Silly Randy. That Temple was the only thing holding her spirit in checkm. Burning her only sets her free. Bray was the keeper of the demon this whole time.

From Bray's side he actually points to his character being possessed a lot. When asked on twitter what happened to Husky Harris his response was "he needed me and I needed a vessel" which also gels with the comments he made in response to Kane calling himself the devils favorite demon "you should be careful you never know who is listening"

As far as Sister Abigail my head canon is that she was fairly normal person who took bray in and while he's still an evil bastard his more human self cared deeply for her and holds her in high regard its been twisted into deification tho.

A little from column A and probably more from column B. Seems the Sister Abigail stuff is what gets tweaked the most.

Went from being just a simple reference from Bray's past but Bray twisted her teachings/care to fit his evil ways.

Then became someone the WWE wanted to be an actual member of the Family but don't remember if it was guaranteed she would have been evil or mastermind of the group.

Then went as someone who might not have been real the whole time and just Bray's imagination or a demon possessing him.

Tonight might have been a mix of everything with the big twist of she was actually dead this whole time.

Poit 03-01-2017 12:34 AM

Speculation:

It seems odd for the soul of a demon, such as Satan's sister, to be condemned to eternal damnation. Like, why would Satan want to punish a fellow demon, especially his sister? I'm guessing that Abigail and her brother Bray tried (and failed) to overthrow Satan. To save Abigail's soul from Satan's eternal punishment, Bray bound her soul to her corpse (possibly killing her himself while doing so). He then fled his own body to hide from Satan. Now, after waiting, hiding for a long time, he's attempting to reestablish his power base, as a cult leader.

Savio 03-01-2017 12:56 AM

wish WWE would think this hard about its storyline.

Juan 03-01-2017 01:51 AM

Meh I think it was fine. Now instead of 5 weeks of Orton trying to cut cryptic promos it's now just 3

XL 03-01-2017 03:42 AM

Styles should be like "fuck this", negotiate with Raw, move over and as part of the deal get a #1 Contenders Match as a signing on bonus against...Finn Balor at WrestleMania.

Damian Rey 2.0 03-01-2017 04:46 AM

Does anyone think this will only gain sympathy for Styles? How's he a heel if what you guys are describing follows thru?

#BROKEN Hasney 03-01-2017 05:24 AM

Damn that was a lot of fun. Shame they pulled the trigger now, I was having fun being strung along, but that was fun as hell.

Big Vic 03-01-2017 11:10 AM

With Cena saying Miz was lifting things from other stars, His finisher used to be called the FU (lifted off of F5) and now it's called the Attitude Adjustment (Which was originally Batista's)

Cool King 03-01-2017 06:40 PM

• Good opening segment from both Miz and Cena. It's crazy how even SmackDown's promo segments are better than Raw's.

I was watching and even though I knew that the talking was going on for a long time, it didn't annoy me and I didn't feel the need to skip past it. I was enjoying it and I was interested.

• Why was it a 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match? It was a bit random but enjoyable nonetheless.

I don't get why this stipulation was done for SmackDown though when it could have been done for their WrestleMania match. Going from 2 Out Of 3 Falls to a singles match would feel like a step back.

Their match at WrestleMania will have to be something bigger than 2 Out Of 3 Falls.

• Harper's promos are getting better every week.

• I was wondering how they would address the fact that both Bliss and Natalya are heels. Turns out that a sudden random hint of a face turn from Natalya is all that's needed.

• AJ/Harper was so good. I'm really looking forward to what's ahead for Harper in the future.

The shenanigans during the match pretty much confirms AJ/Shane for WrestleMania. It seemed like a decent way to start it off, with Shane restarting the match.

I'm sure next week AJ will claim that Shane is trying to screw him out of the title by restarting the match only for him to win the restart and prove Shane wrong, and with Orton back in the main event, Shane takes AJ's WrestleMania spot away from him, which only fuels AJ's allegations/belief that Shane is screwing him out of the title.

• Cena/Nikki vs Ellsworth/Carmella? Oh dear.

Also, am I the only one that noticed a change in Cena when he's with Nikki on-screen? I don't really know how to put it into words, but he didn't come across as being "John Cena", instead, he slightly came across to me more like those "prickish boyfriends" you see in real life and sometimes in movies.

The kind of guy who's a tool and just a complete dick when he's with his girlfriend.

Like I said, I don't really know how to put it into words, but hopefully you all know what I mean.

• Curt Hawkins. Why?

Seriously. Why?

Why hype up the guy and give him a gimmick and weekly vignettes only to have him be your brand's #1 Jobber?

At least give the man a chance. The more I see him job, the more lucky I feel than I've actually seen him win a match live in front of my eyes, as seeing him win is such a rarity.

• Corbin though. Jesus.

I'm not really going to repeat myself as much as I usually do, as we all know how we all feel about Corbin now, but my God. Give the man some charisma. Please.

His promos are just hell. I'd rather have my teeth pulled out than listen to him. Also, he really didn't make sense when he said "There are a few similarities between you and me. You love pain, I love handing it out."

Those aren't similarities.

A similarity would be if they both love pain or both love handing it out.

• Chair's Match? Oh ok.

A bit random.

• That ending was pretty sweet.

It's pretty much the payoff I was wanting. For months and months it felt like this whole thing was going nowhere and seemed pretty pointless. Orton goes against the Wyatts, then randomly joins them and we all scoff at it and say "Orton's obviously going to turn on The Wyatt Family.", but it wasn't happening.

Some of us then began doubting ourselves and start to think that we were wrong. Months pass and when the opportunity comes for Orton to turn, he doesn't. Some of us (me being one of them) begin to question the whole point of Orton joining The Wyatt Family in the first place as it seemed it was going nowhere.

Then out of nowhere (that's not intended), Orton gives a big "Fuck You" to Wyatt and burns his goddamn "kingdom" down.

I feel that was worth the seven month wait and now everything has fallen into place and makes sense now. It really wouldn't have worked if Orton simply just hit Wyatt with an RKO when he least expected it. That would have been a bit of a let down. I'm really looking forward to next week though.

This just completely shits all over Raw. This is like a classic storyline from years ago, when we would get long intricate storylines, instead of what is now "the norm" over on Raw of "Wrestler #1 dislikes Wrestler #2 and wants to fight him at the next PPV. PPV is over and the dislike between the Wrestlers is never spoken of again" or storylines along those lines. If we're lucky, it lasts for two PPVs.

I really feel that this should be the Main Event at WrestleMania but I get the feeling that it'll be Goldberg/Lesnar for the Universal Championship.

• Overall, SmackDown was top-notch apart from the Curt Hawkins debacle.

Right? This is all much better that whatever they will ultimately go with as Bray's canon story.I'm sure Bray himself has a good one but I doubt the writers would listen or care.
