It's been fairly even,i would say France have dominated possession and things but England are defending deeper. |
That goal has glossed over a terrible performance from Lampard and Beckham.
Scholes has been excellent, as good as Zidane. Gerrard and Rooney, as well as the English defence, have been good too. Really Lampard and Beckham were the ones conceding possession too easily and letting England down in the first half. France are unlucky. I had a feeling when Beckham went down, he was going to swing in a good free kick and score from it. It seemed like the likeliest way England were going to score. |

England don't want to be sitting back that far in the second half and trying to hold out. Henry has been quiet, and I really think he'll try to pull out wide and get into the game more this half. England are defending very deeply, so if Zidane and Henry come from deep, I can see it being troublesome for England. They need to keep the ball more efficiently.

You can't expect to defend that deep against a team like France and not expect them to score at some point. England didn't defend well so much as France didn't attack very well.
