Didnt bother watching but doubt I missed anything

Mr. Pierre 07-19-2020 10:57 PM

Given the current situation, this was a good show.

-Tables match was a solid opener with a memorable finish.
-Bayley/Nikki was a good match.
-MVP segment was short and fine.
-Seth/Rey was very good. Chicken shit to chicken salad.
-Sasha/Asuka was also very good. The finish was a mess, but I want to think that was by design to have a layup rematch for Summerslam, which sounds good to me.
-Drew/Dolph told a solid story. It’s not easy to create sympathy for a 6’4” 250 lb dude when he’s facing a guy that he towers over. This was good stuff.
-Swamp fight was cheese but Wyatt‘a character(s) has no boundaries, so I was open minded to whatever whackiness the WWE had planned. Hoping the Fiend takes the title.

I appreciate that this show was focused. What I mean by that is the WWE had a plan to elevate a handful of people tonight, and I thought it was effective. Bayley, Sasha, Wyatt, Drew, and Seth all came out better than how they entered the night. Meanwhile they protected other stars such as Asuka and Braun.

This wasn’t a must-see by any stretch, but for a night of wrestling with a few beers, it was definitely fun.

Dayum. Yeah I didn't miss any of those. They have had plenty of MONGO MOMENTS in AEW so far.

So what was the big eyeball special effect for tonight’s wrestling match?

Dang

Mr. Nerfect 07-20-2020 04:01 AM

Somehow WWE is still better than AEW. How is that even possible?

#1-norm-fan 07-20-2020 04:22 AM

It’s not though. Hating AEW is “the thing to do” and I’m not even gonna argue that AEW isn’t fucked at every turn.

But as a stand-alone show, WWE has just about every problem AEW has plus a shitload more that basically amount to “We got the market cornered. We’re bulletproof. Fuck it!”

Mr. Nerfect 07-20-2020 04:36 AM

Hating AEW is not the thing to do, lol.

Mr. Nerfect 07-20-2020 04:37 AM

The WWE has at least conditioned you to expect to be insulted. AEW tells you that it's going to be something different and then insults you any way. Fucking hell, there needs to be something else.

#1-norm-fan 07-20-2020 04:42 AM

How long does AEW have to exist before it gets the privilege of “conditioning you” that WWE gets that excuses its awfulness to some extent?

#1-norm-fan 07-20-2020 04:44 AM

WWE is literally the reason you need “something different” so badly.

Where do you encounter this? Honest question, because in every corner of the internet fan bubble I visit, you are called a troll if you don't praise the shit out of them. Seriously. Where is this oasis?

I mean, most wrestling fans don't give a flying fuck AEW exists, but you can't criticize this promotion without a bunch of bitches having a BigCrippyZ at you.

Droford 07-20-2020 09:49 AM

Otis should have been given the R Truth treatment last night with vignettes walking around a swamp looking for Braun carrying a briefcase while Mandy looked all disgusted at the bugs and slime that were getting on her

Emperor Smeat 07-20-2020 12:52 PM

According to the Observer, Apollo Crews absence from last night's PPV was coronavirus related.

Not here at TPWW, it's not like if you talk bad about AEW here you DON'T get called names like weeny boy or anything

Also seems WWE could potentially get in some trouble with the FCC for faking the "live" tv tag during the Eye for an Eye match since PWI reported that match was taped earlier in the day.

Also revealed that Vince was very hands-on with the layout of the entire match.

the ppv was pretty horrible. the fuck even was that "swamp" match?

Even my family member who I keep the sub for was not happy with it. Seemed like a clusterfuck of things that just made you scratch your head in a real "WTF" way. I dunno how to better articulate that.

I almost didn’t call you out on this because my previous posts were more important and I didn’t want them skipped and buried by this. But go to a Cornette Twitter thread. That’s your alley. (Not knocking you for it. It’s my alley, too. Jim Cornette is fucking awesome.) It’s normal to just ignore things you don’t like. There’s a huge RABID group of people who don’t like AEW but make it a point to express hate for it at every turn. That’s what I mean when I say it’s “the thing to do”. Shitting on WWE is yesterday. There’s finally something new to shit in and the IWC is rejuvenated.

Is this a reference to my post in the other thread? You forced yourself to ignore my explanation and just skipped to the last part where you “got called names”, didn’t you? Be honest.

Evil Vito 07-20-2020 03:50 PM

I just don't understand why some people on this board seem to take personal offense to anyone liking AEW (or any wrestling show for that matter).

It's fine if you don't like it yourself but I just don't understand getting up on your soapbox and being like "How can any of you people like this? STOP HAVING FUN!"

I point out things I don't like about AEW all the time and no one comes down on me for it. Same with Gertner.

I’ll keep looking, because most general places I find aren’t like this at all. There are actually places that have banned saying anything negative about AEW (I’m not joking).

No one takes offense to anything. Stop being a baby. Your personal narrative for criticism can be your own, but saying “AEW sucks” is no different than saying “WWE sucks.” People are just more fun to rile up about AEW because they genuinely think AEW is good. It’s not.

It’s frustrating, because I have the feeling that this is going to be seen as the best possible shot anyone can ever take at Vince McMahon, so they won’t bother trying in the future. Pretty sure this is handing Vince more power than ever. So yeah, it’s pretty annoying dumb cunts like BigCrippyZ are doing that and then likely to cry about it. But enjoy what you enjoy. You are going to be accused of bad taste though.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I've never said anything like that. I post sarcastic responses, like I did to Jordan yesterday for calling out McIntyre for slapping his leg. Unlike others, Jordan took it in stride and had a funny response. There was no "soapbox" speeches or offense taken.

What you are describing is the tone towards WWE, not AEW. I don't recall ever seeing any posts about hoping Tony Khan goes bankrupt or wishing for his death here, just Vince McMahon.

Mostly a rambling, incoherent promo with incredibly shit "acting" for the most part. Pretty bad.

Yeah, WWE's fair game, AEW is not.

I don't mind the Eater of Worlds version of Bray in small doses, but you are right on about a long incoherent promo not cutting it as a main event PPV match. They promited a swamp fight, and gave us a swamp promo with a bit of brawling. They event went with a false finish before The Fiend. I had high hopes for this version of a cinematic match, but it ended up being maybe the 2nd worse one they have done, and that is only because they had a normal NXT match be cinematic for some odd reason.

Once again, sitting here waiting for all the persecution to rain down on me for the shit I've talked about AEW.

Fignuts 07-21-2020 07:25 AM

Like, if you don't like AEW and want to be a dick about it, then fine. It's TPWW. You can do that.

But don't sit there and act like a victim. Don't be a pussy. Own it.

There was an entire thread that had to be at least 5 pages long of you calling out a bunch of “Kenny Omega fanboys” for shitting on Seth Rollins for whining about WWE getting unfairly criticized because Omega did the same thing. Most of the interactions were people saying “Okay. No one here is defending Omega though and some of us don’t even like the guy.” And you responding with “Yeah, but what about Omega!?!”

Was that all “sarcasm” too?
