YOUR Hero 03-25-2006 07:28 PM

you weren't there? I thought you were... hmm. I'll have to check out your team

Evil Vito 03-25-2006 08:26 PM

I understand your offers Hero, but keep in mind I REALLY need a SP

Westbrook and Harang are my top two guys....and that's sad.

Shame I had to miss the draft...damn work.

YOUR Hero 03-25-2006 08:59 PM

If you are still around, I made you another offer. I'd like to get some feedback (PM) from you.

RoXer 03-25-2006 11:41 PM

Joey Slugs 03-26-2006 12:15 AM

Joey Slugs 03-27-2006 01:12 AM

i ended up with a good lineup for offense and then a little lack in the SP department....

but I do have:

M. Rivera
B. Lidge
B. Wagner
B. Ryan
C. Cordero

weird.

Supreme Olajuwon 03-27-2006 03:36 AM

Vito you can have one of my SPs. I have too many good ones

MVP 03-28-2006 10:18 PM

Just finished a draft in my league with my friends from home. Pretty satisfied with my lineup:

C - I. Rodriguez
1B - M. Teixeira
2B - M. Ellis
3B - M. Mora
SS - N. Garciaprra
OF - S. Podsednik
OF - P. Burrell
OF - J.D. Drew
Util - B. Inge
Util - R. Baldelli
BN - M. Jacobs
BN - P. Lo Duca
BN - M. Lowell

SP - R. Halladay
SP - B. Zito
SP - M. Mulder
SP - E. Loaiza
RP - B. Wagner
RP - J. Nathan
RP - J. Mesa
SP - C. Silva
SP - R. Lopez
BN - W. Williams
BN -B. Looper

14 teams, I was 12th pick and somehow Teixeira made it to 12th pick so I got him and Halladay right off the bat. Not sure how healthy Drew is gonna be this year, and hopefully Baldelli is 100% as well or else I'm short an OF.

OssMan 03-29-2006 06:20 PM

I have Jose Guillen and Joey Gathright and picked up Jason Bay so I didn't need another OF, and the guy wanted Sheffield over the others

MVP 03-29-2006 08:41 PM

Sheff/Sexson + a marginal player would have worked just fine.

I wouldn't really count on Guillen (streaky as hell, injury prone, also, plays in RFK where he hit .238 last year and hit only 3 of his 28 HR) and Gathright is only guaranteed a starting job for now.

weather vane 03-30-2006 05:28 AM

It all depends on who on your team is available. I have B.J. Ryan available, but I'm STILL waiting on NerF to get back to me on the trade offer.

RoXer 03-30-2006 06:26 PM

Spilchuck, Make me a deal for Chavez

The Miz 04-01-2006 08:27 PM

Your bullpen is kinda bad

The Icon of Elisim 04-01-2006 08:29 PM

Really? I thought it was a strength. 3 closers in a 14 team league

The Miz 04-01-2006 08:46 PM

Jenks has no job security right now, the last 2 years Ozzie has changed his closer numerous times, and this spring he's already talked about letting Cotts have most of the save chances early in the year. His command has been terrible this spring as well.

Dempster wasn't really that good at all last year, 3.13 ERA and 1.44 WHIP isn't very good for a closer. He'll probably get you saves but could hurt you depending on what the other league categories are.

Ray like Jenks could be removed anytime, and he's never been a closer before so you don't really know how he's going to do. He'll probably be okay but its doubtful he'll last the entire year in that role, and the Orioles aren't afraid to try LaTroy Hawkins.

YOUR Hero 04-01-2006 08:53 PM

the starters should cover the relievers ERA most of the time, but yeah, Jenks and Ray are pretty iffy.

The Icon of Elisim 04-01-2006 09:22 PM

Shit hadn't read that stuff about Jenks. I took him early cause all the good closers were going quick and me and my partner wanted a good closer on a good team. Ray was a late round pick up and we are only gonna use him if the other guys don't work out, but hopefully he will be good for trade bait.

I think the team is okay, not expecting to win with this team. I realize that we need a couple guys to overachieve, or atleast get lucky with some trades.

YOUR Hero 04-01-2006 09:35 PM

there are probably some other closers around. Guys like Mireli or Burgos. While they're not on top tier teams, they should give you something. Esp, if you can make a trade to dump Jenks on someone that doesn't know his job is in jeopardy.

YOUR Hero 04-01-2006 09:35 PM

and Cotts

The Miz 04-01-2006 09:51 PM

TB and KC are both also closer-by-comittee so Miceli or Burgos aren't going to be any safer than Jenks and Ray

YOUR Hero 04-01-2006 10:14 PM

Miceli and Burgos are as good as Jenks, if he can move Jenks to someone not the yet wiser, he should. Esp if he can upgrade in a package deal.

The Miz 04-01-2006 10:44 PM

How are Miceli and Burgos close to as good as Jenks? Miceli has been a closer one time in his like, 94 with Pittsburgh, 4.66 ERA 1.53 WHIP. He has proven to be a good setup man in the NL but he hasn't pitched in the AL in years (when he did, he sucked) and he has to face the Red Sox, Yankees, Devil Rays, and Orioles lineup almost every time out. If Miceli screws up at all they're going to try other people there, Orvella and Colome will certainly be given a shot sometime down the road. Burgos has one year of ML experience, none as a closer, and had a 3.98 ERA as a setup man. Unless he has an amazing April he is also certainly going to be pushed back into setup because Mike MacDougal will be off the DL. Jenks was simply dominant last year and already has alot of experience. His job is more secure than both of them, and hes much better anyway.

The Icon of Elisim 04-01-2006 11:40 PM

Thats pretty much what I'm thinking right now.

Drafted him expecting 35 saves, the more I read I still think that he can reach that but I know that 20-25 is mroe realistic. Hopefully they show some faith in him since it looks like he'll struggle out of the gate.

Evil Vito 04-01-2006 11:56 PM

Just curious, does anybody have an ESPN Diamond Daily entry?

It's pretty fun, you pick one player per day....and their stats for that day's game are combined with the stats of all the other guys you've chosen during the month. At the end of the year all accumulated stats are combined.

The catch is once you use a player he's gone (I'm pretty sure for the rest of the month)

Also, since its an ESPN thing....all ESPN Sunday Night games count for double stats (both positively and negatively). And since the only game tomorrow is an ESPN Sunday Night game, I'm taking Paul Konerko

The Miz 04-02-2006 12:59 AM

edit

YOUR Hero 04-07-2006 11:19 PM

You now what really pisses me off? I mean really really pisses me off. When you edit your line up, you now you did. You are positive, then you go and check it that night to see you've got 2 pitchers benched and they've both won their starts and put up decent pitching stats.

I think what happens is if you set it 3 days in advance it doesn't accept it OR SOMETHING. This happens in hockey too. The real piss off is it doesn't always happen, and then it does and it bites you in the ass.

RoXer 04-08-2006 12:12 PM

I don't know how to explain it, but theres a way around it.

And I've added all three to my team. :o

Also, I never put any players on the DL because for some reason I was thinking the DL was gone like it was in basketball.

Yeah, missed out on Scott Kazmir in one of my leagues today because of that.

Joey Slugs 04-10-2006 07:36 PM

i know the season is already going (but it's only a week) but is anyone interested in a 8 team, NL only, 5X5 league?
