Super Bowl baby.

HeartBreakMan2k 01-26-2009 09:47 PM

In fact, not only is it not a waste of Jericho's talent, it is a testament and compliment to his abilities that WWE would put him in that situation. And frankly, he's incredibly lucky to be there. He's going to become much more of a house hold name as result.

:y::y::yes:

James Steele 01-26-2009 09:49 PM

I just had an idea:

HBK should lay down for Cena and screw JBL. It is then announced that Stephanie put HBK in the elimination chamber under the condition that if he wins the match, the McMahons will pay him a shitload of money. HBK and Randy Orton compete at WrestleMania. The McMahons agree to double HBK's "WrestleMania payday" if he takes out Randy Orton. The match is a no-dq match for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Londoner 01-26-2009 09:49 PM

No classic HBK entrance?Meh.

Hanso Amore 01-26-2009 09:50 PM

Wasnt this on Raw 2 weeks ago? Come on! book it different.

Supreme Olajuwon 01-26-2009 09:50 PM

Hmm, so this isn't the main event? Intriguing

Corndad 01-26-2009 09:50 PM

That double Sweet Chin Music last night was sweet.

Johnny Vegas 01-26-2009 09:50 PM

Very true HBM2k. But here comes Clark Kent

FourFifty 01-26-2009 09:51 PM

Cena needs to come out with Marty Jannety to even the odds.

RatedGSuperstar 01-26-2009 09:51 PM

I think they should fuse the two entrance themes together, like they did with Undertaker and Kane back in 2001. Have the Sensational Sherri moaning start, only to cut into JBL's music...

"AH! AAH! AAAH! .....MOOOOOOO!"

James Steele 01-26-2009 09:51 PM

For fuck sake, WWE could make money off of Rourke without having him in a fucking match. Have him as a ref or something. Is Big Show a bigger name than ever because of facing Mayweather last year...or do people still not really care?

Actually I think it was a subtle and smart move. It takes away some of Shawn's pops, putting Cena over. And HBK is competing for his employer in this match, not himself. So why would JBL allow Michaels to put himself over?

Hanso Amore 01-26-2009 09:53 PM

Here is the thing...

Flair will be in Rourkes corner and cheat to help him win, because he would need to go over in WM fashion, and he cant beata main eventer clean.

You're comparing boxing to Hollywood. Nobody fucking cares about boxing.

He is a bigger name actually. Big Show would have never been a conversational topic on ESPN or within a lot of other networks if it hadn't been for that match. I remember being at work and people who loathe wrestling were talking about the Big Show. Rather a match falters in the wrestling circle or not, has no dictation on what level of a mainstream success it was.

And Mickey is bigger than Mayweather, and Jericho is a better choice than show so the results will be even more successful in terms of mainstream coverage.

Is Bobby Lashley the biggest thing ever after being loved by Donald Trump? No.

I also wonder how much help RoH is getting from WWE supporting this movie now.

FourFifty 01-26-2009 09:56 PM

Mayweather vs The Big Show as a better match than I thought it would be.
Much better.

ron the dial 01-26-2009 09:56 PM

i think you're missing the part where rourke will probably be able to work a pretty solid match, while the people you are naming cannot/did not.

How many of them actually plopped down 60 bucks for WrestleMania? Probably the same number that put down 60 bucks for Big Show vs Akebono at WrestleMania 21.

Londoner 01-26-2009 09:57 PM

Wait, they've missed out most of the match cause of adverts?

No, he's not. But you can't argue that he was a topic of mainstream entertainment during the angle. The only reason Lashley isn't bigger is because he didn't have the ability to carry that position. That's why WWE went with Jericho this time. He has the potential and charisma to be marketed towards that demographic.

Again, just because it's not successful in the wrestling circle does not mean it wasn't a successful business venture.

How come HBK still has the fake Chaps tie strings in the back of his tights, when they are all one piece?

Same with the belt buckle.

Hanso Amore 01-26-2009 10:00 PM

When did he ditch the old heart tights anyways, and did they ever say why?

Volare 01-26-2009 10:00 PM

Who the hell knows.

Johnny Vegas 01-26-2009 10:00 PM

LOL MICHAEL COLE WILL NOT CALL THAT MOVE WHAT IT IS

Hanso Amore 01-26-2009 10:00 PM

Do you think it is odd to see the crossface?

HHH and HBK are the only 2 to use it.

Volare 01-26-2009 10:00 PM

Cena will never tap.

Supreme Olajuwon 01-26-2009 10:00 PM

Why doesn't JBL just go punch HBK and get Cena DQ'ed

Triple Naitch 01-26-2009 10:01 PM

Interesting fact about assless chaps. All chaps are assless

You're arguing semantics. If one person purchased the show that wouldn't have before, it was successful. If WWE was on more mainstream television channels due to FREE publicity, it was successful. If one more person went to WWE.com to read about it, was raided by the PAID advertisement that WWE has on their site, it was successful.

This sort of stuff is about the monotony gain, and that happens when you use celebrity. This will be more successful because WWE was intellegent with their selection of what worker to put against Mickey. He has the cross-over appeal that Show doesn't, that Bam Bam didn't, and Bobby Lashley never could.
