And trust me, Alabama is sitting in the top 3 thinking they are in perfect position, but when it comes down to Bama vs Florida in the SEC title game and the chance to go to the National Championship against Texas ( which is the most likely scenario ), the powers that be in College Football will make sure Tim Tebow gets into that National Title game. You'd be a fool to think not.

Emperor Smeat 11-02-2009 03:09 PM

I think what is hurting the most has been the recent thinking of every BSC title game must include a SEC team going back the last 3 out of 4 teams when before it was the top 2 teams regardless of conference. It limits the possibilities of potential match ups to just a OSU/Florida/USC/Texas/LSU instead of the usual 2-3 potential teams from each conference.

I would also blame ESPN's growing influence over the BSC since they can devout 24/7 coverage on tv and influence the rankings in the voters minds.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-02-2009 04:10 PM

The SEC isn't even that good this year. It has 3 good teams, and I'm not convinced LSU is that good. If they are, they haven't proven it. But look at the conference breakdown of the BCS standings:

Big Ten: 4 teams
Pac 10: 4 teams
Big East: 3 teams
ACC: 3 teams
Big 12: 3 teams
SEC: 3 teams

Where's this SEC dominance that everyone is talking about?

Emperor Smeat 11-02-2009 06:13 PM

Its all about perception, usually the SEC has problems with creating an undefeated team or 1-loss team since they tend to beat each other up during the season. Last 3-4 years that hasn't occurred and since during that time an SEC has won the title, people assume SEC must be the best (also based on past history). SEC also managed to market themselves as best conference in college football to help with their dominance perception.

USC also gets this perception when they are undefeated or have 1 loss since ESPN and others hype them up as best team ever or #1.

I guess it usually comes out in Jan when an SEC team beats Ohio State.

Also, I tend to see the Pac-10, SEC, and Big 10 as the best conferences in college football right now. I think the Big 12 is highly overrated and the Big East and ACC are just weak overall.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-02-2009 06:55 PM

I can't tell if you're trying to be funny or not, but it brings up the point that most people think the SEC is dominant because they have a good track record and because they have a couple good teams this year. However as we can clearly see, unless you're retarded, the SEC is no more dominant than any other conference this year.

Nah, it's just a shot at Ohio State, who I don't really care for.

And no, the SEC isn't more dominant than any other conference this year. Like I said, I think as a whole they are in the top 3 with the Pac-10 and Big 10. Next would probably be the Big 12, then the ACC and the Big East.

redoneja 11-02-2009 06:59 PM

And I'll go even further to say that the Pac-10 and Big 10 are underrated this year and have been consistently for the last couple years.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 11-02-2009 10:59 PM

Can Boise State play in the National Title game for once?

Skippord 11-03-2009 01:18 AM

Boise's never gonna get into the Title game

sucks cause they're the team I support most.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-03-2009 07:30 AM

What really sucks for them is eventually the system is going to change and they'll be one of the biggest reasons why, but by then Chris Peterson will be long gone and they won't come anywhere close again.

Skippord 11-03-2009 03:34 PM

Brandon Spikes suspended for the first half of Florida's game against Vandy for a blatant eye gouge

seems fair

Supreme Olajuwon 11-03-2009 05:01 PM

That shit happens all the time in loose ball scrums. He got caught. I'm fine with it.

Skippord 11-03-2009 05:59 PM

it wasn't a loose ball scrum though

Supreme Olajuwon 11-07-2009 02:50 PM

Iowa losing in the 4th quarter again. Eventually they won't be able to come back and win.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-07-2009 03:02 PM

BCS lovers everywhere rejoice

RP 11-07-2009 03:58 PM

Haha Boilermakers beat Michigan!

Also, is there any doubt that the BCS Championship game will be Florida/Alabama vs Texas? Boring

Supreme Olajuwon 11-07-2009 06:48 PM

Buckeyes put a whooping on Penn State tonight. Glad to see Pryor stepping up in a big game.

Next week vs. Iowa at the Shoe. Winner gets the BCS bid. Iowa probably won't have their QB. EXCITING

Supreme Olajuwon 11-07-2009 06:59 PM

WOW can't believe LSU didn't get that interception call. Looked like a pretty clean INT to me.

Emperor Smeat 11-07-2009 10:38 PM

Yeah SEC officiating has been a mess this year, too many blown calls in key games. ESPN was happy though Alabama won since they had previews and stats ready on ESPN News showcasing the SEC title game and saying it guaranteed a spot in BCS bowl.

Had Oregon not lost today, they were still set to leap-frog Boise State in the rankings this week.

ClockShot 11-08-2009 06:28 AM

Uconn falls short. Again.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-11-2009 08:12 AM

Apparently this is Ohio week on the ESPN networks. Ohio vs. Buffalo was on last night, Toledo vs. Central Michigan tonight, Bowling Green vs. Miami (OH) tomorrow, Cincinnati vs. West Virginia Friday, Ohio State vs. Iowa Saturday

then we've got the Bengals vs. Steelers on Sunday and Browns vs. Ravens on Monday

that's too much Buckeye state for any man to handle

Might not have the best teams but the SEC is stacked with NFL talent. That's what people see.

I'm also curious to see what 3 teams out of the ACC you consider good? I've seen most of them play and they all seem to be hit or miss - I wouldn't really consider any of them BCS worthy (obviously 1 of them has to be but you get my point)

Jesus Shuttlesworth 11-11-2009 09:52 PM

One more thing, can't believe RP claimed that "college football is slowly killing itself" - that is some type of joke, right?

That's not me, that's the BCS top 25. I was just breaking it down by conference.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-12-2009 12:04 AM

Also don't sleep on Georgia Tech

Who knows, this is the kid that went on a "UFC is fixed" tantrum after the last PPV.

My fault, misread that.

Georgia Tech is good, but I don't think they are BCS good.

Emperor Smeat 11-14-2009 08:32 PM

College Football is weird in how they allow a D-1A school to play D-1AA and count the wins but won't count them for Bowl eligibility. Defeats the purpose of having those games besides for the usual cupcake guarantee and record padding.

If you lose to a D-1AA, then your guaranteed almost no major bowl appearance (like Michigan a few years ago) but if you win it counts as a non-conference win in case of a tie in records. A few schools this year might not end up in bowls because they won their D-1AA game but were average in the season.

Loose Cannon 11-14-2009 10:38 PM

god, Notre Dame is so frustrating to watch. Once again playing from behind.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 11-14-2009 11:28 PM

I thought that was a fumble by Clausen, his hand was empty coming forward.

TCU smashed Utah and that is why I do not gamble. Utah was a 20 point underdog, I would have bet the house that Utah was gonna cover that

Nervous Ferret 11-16-2009 02:28 AM

Clemson has all but clinched a rematch in the ACC title game vs. Georgia Tech. The first game was sick, Ga Tech (at home) had a 24-0 only for Clemson to take the lead at 27-24 in the 4th quarter. Then gay ass Ga Tech kicked 2 late fgs and won a heartbreaker. And Clemson came pretty damn close to beating TCU too. Both awful losses. Third loss was awful as well but it was to Maryland so I dunno. Pretty terrible team to lose to.

Orange Bowl vs. Cincinnati? Would be pretty serious. I'm also not sure if C.J Spiller is going to, or deserves to win the Heisman. But he has to be on everybody's top 5 list at least. Dude is more ridiculous than ever this year. He threw, ran, and caught a touchdown this past weekend. He has 8 touchdowns this season of 50 yards or more. Almost every single game he has some ridiculous touchdown where he just outruns eveybody

Can't believe BC is even in the discussion for the ACC title game. If Clemson loses and BC wins this week, they would be in. I mean that's not gonna happen but still pretty wild, considering BC was the "throw-in" w/ Va Tech and Miami but they've been in the ACC Championship game the last 2 years.

Going to the game on Saturday though  Sneaking in a bottle of Captain Mo!!!!!!

DAMN iNATOR 11-21-2009 11:53 AM

Here's hoping my Spartans pull off a huge upset win over the Nittany Lions in E.L. today. It would place us probably in a slightly better bowl than where we would be if we ended up 6-6 with a loss today, and would also pretty much ensure no BCS bid for Penn St.

ClockShot 11-21-2009 01:46 PM

Would like to see UConn stick it to Notre Dame today. Thus putting the final nail in Charlie Weis' coffin.

RP 11-21-2009 03:20 PM

Tate Forcier might be the worst QB ever.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-21-2009 03:48 PM

I love Tate Forcier. And I love Rich Rodriguez. Both have made me so happy.

Droford 11-21-2009 06:42 PM

Charlie Weiss can pick up his commemorative "Next Cleveland Browns Offensive Coordinator T-Shirt" on the way out of the building..

Loose Cannon 11-21-2009 06:53 PM

lol wow, fuckin unbelievable. UCONN???????????????
