Come on bro, you're better than this.

I was attempting a Shisen joke, sorry.

To be honest, I'd have been tempted to let Coughlin go and start fresh now if I was the Giants, which sounds a bit ridiculous. Yes he's won two Super Bowls out of the blue but they've been incredibly average and underachieved every other year. Can't see what more there is for him to accomplish now. Then again, how the hell do you fire a coach who just won you the Super Bowl.

Why is this a thing? Way to make me hate my city even more Jacksonville.

I'm at a loss for words too.

You don't fire a coach with 2 rings. Simple as that really.

CSL 06-11-2012 12:57 PM

imagine the position it puts the next guy in. Anything other than winning the Super Bowl makes his position pretty much untenable

Triple Naitch 06-11-2012 03:05 PM

Really thought Coughlin was gonna retire this year or next.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter
Giants announced they waived/failed physical TE Jake Ballard and re-signed DR Rocky Bernard.

Evil Vito 06-11-2012 07:11 PM

Ballard was initially hopeful that he could go on the PUP list and be ready late in the year, but even he's conceded that he won't be ready to go until 2013. Giants are going to put him on their reserve PUP/injured list once he clears waivers tomorrow so that he doesn't count against the 90 man roster.

In bigger news, David Diehl got arrested for DWI. I'm sure the team and the league will slap him with a fine. More importantly, I wonder if Goodell will hit him with a 4 game suspension. Where Diehl plays was pretty much going to determine the configuration of the line as well as who's on the bench. But if he misses the start of the year I guess they'd be going with: Beatty-Boothe-Baas-Snee-Locklear.

Diehl could replace the weakest link out of Beatty/Boothe/Locklear once her returns.

CSL 06-11-2012 08:46 PM

Ocho to Dolphins official, 1 year deal

Evil Vito 06-12-2012 07:25 PM

Wow, so much for Ballard coming back to the Giants. Patriots claim him off of waivers. They'll stash him on their 90 man roster and pay him $540,000 to not play this year.

If he had gotten through waivers, the Giants would have been able to hold on to Ballard for the entire year without pay (reserve list) and he wouldn't have counted against the 90 man roster.

Gonzo 06-12-2012 08:36 PM

I think Ballard played well last year but his production is replaceable.

Or he'll play when Gronkowski's liver fails

Wow Quinn Pitcock was so addicted to gaming on CoD..he said it cost him an NFL career. He'd play over 10 hrs a day

With Mike Pope as TE coach, I'm pretty sure everybody's production is replaceable. They always seem to have somebody decent in there no matter who leaves.

Just read Van Halen is gonna do the Super Bowl halftime show. Dunno if it's true or not yet. Mad excited now for the season to start.

Players got the business in the CBA. Once training camp starts, they lose $30,000 per day if they hold out. I don't see too many players willing to lose that kind of money for too long.

Ermaximus 06-13-2012 09:22 PM

Does that affect franchise tagged players though? I didn't think it did.

Krimzon7 06-14-2012 09:11 AM

The CBA was completely a win for the ownership. The rookie salary scale (even though veterans benefit from the extra money), and the way hold outs are handled more than make up for whatever they 'gave up'.

I gotta admit that I'm kind of a fan of the rookie wage scale. Other than that, the players should probably look into better representation for future negotiations. How the hell does anyone agree to a stipulation that allows the same guy punishing you to be the one who decides your fate on appeal?

I believe it was that piece of shit Flozell Adams that poked him in the eye years ago. I definitely know Flozell pulled a bullshit leg whip that put Osi out for some games.

The owners won the short term but I think the money differences from the CBA debates ended up being placed towards the pension and medical funds so in the end everyone benefits.

Owners wanted to just pocket the extra $1-2 billion but instead have that locked up for future spending at the cost of the players loosing that money upfront since they wanted it now. Same for the rookie scale since most of the money difference from the old and new one just got placed into other funds than only in the owners pocket.

Interesting Viewpoint and it does put a lot in perspective. Well said sir.

LaDainian Tomlinson to sign a one day contract with the Chargers and retire.

Krimzon7 06-18-2012 11:34 AM

Jonathan Vilma and four other Saints entered their appeal this morning. Goddell (that asshole) adjourned their meeting and asked to meet later this afternoon.

VIlma ain't having that and said he isn't coming back for this circus. It appears that the other three are undecided on whether or not to return. All four may pursue other legal actions.

I love Jonathan Vilma's Gangster throughout this whole stint. He's on some Nino Brown shit...although Nino Brown rolled over and snitched on everybody as soon as he got some heat.

SammyG 06-18-2012 02:29 PM

Sad to see LT retire, love him so much. Great career.

Ermaximus 06-18-2012 02:35 PM

I said the same thing about Fred Taylor when he retired. Sucks when good players like them never win the big prize.

You're 6 years old, and you love football. Specifically, you love the New York Giants and their big, bruising running back Brandon Jacobs.

One day, you hear that Brandon Jacobs isn't playing for the Giants anymore; he's playing for some other team that wears different colors in some other place way far away. You ask your mother to explain, and she tells you that the Giants just don't have enough money to keep Brandon Jacobs.

So you think to yourself, "Oh? Is that it? Money? All that we need to fix this is money? I have money! I'll send it to Brandon Jacobs and everything will be fine! Here! Here's money! All better!"

And this arrived in Brandon Jacobs' mailbox:

http://l3.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/Gt...don-Jacobs.jpg

Somehow, the $3.36 failed to void an NFL contract and get Jacobs back with the Giants. He remains a 49er, but hopefully, young Joseph has found a way to heal his broken little heart.

Remember the adorable little New York Giants fan named Joe who sent the contents of his piggy bank to Brandon Jacobs because "money" was the reason that Jacobs had to leave the Giants? The young fellow got his money back this week, hand-delivered by Jacobs, along with a signed Giants helmet and a bouncy, memorable afternoon with his favorite football player.

Jacobs told Matt Barrow of the Sacramento Bee that he and his son took Joe and his brother out to a bounce house for the afternoon and had a blast.

"It was just us in the whole place and we were just going room to room - just bouncing and flipping all over the place, hitting each other with balls, sweating, our shirts filthy. We were just dirty, stinky boys, you know?"

Added Joe's mom, Julie:
"He told me he really wanted to get out there with the kids. [...] He really wanted to enjoy it, and he did. It was amazing."

I love a story that ends with warm fuzzies all around. It was a sweet act by the child to send Jacobs his piggy bank money, and it was sweet of Jacobs to make sure the little guy knew that the gesture was appreciated. Jacobs is even pulling inspiration from the whole thing to get him motivated for the season.

"I'm at a point in my career when people have stopped believing in me and not believing that I can still play. But that's not the case. Joe believes in me, gave me a lot of confidence and a lot of want-to. And I'm ready to go. I can't wait until the season starts."

Well, if karma exists in that bounce house, Jacobs hopefully picked up enough Wednesday to improve on the 571 yards and 3.8 per carry he averaged last season. He won't get to do it in New York, like Joe wanted, but now maybe Joe can put his $3.36 towards the Sunday Ticket package and watch his hero in San Francisco.
