<font color=goldenrod>Yeah that's ridiculous. Hate All Star Voting in general. Yeah the fans will get the obvious people like Trout, Cabrera, etc. in as they should but every year there are a couple of questionable starters because it's not much more than a popularity contest.

They can say it's the "fan's game" and an exhibition all they want but they still tie up something important in the outcome of the game.</font>

All of that aside, would it kill them to at least hold off until like, mid-May?

Don't think the Yanks have a chance if it goes to arbitration. They knew full well what could happen by keeping him for this season. Had well over a year to get rid of him (ex. Marlins rumors) or possibly rework the deal to lessen the HR bonus stigma.

Since their 11 game winning streak they've now lost 7 of 10 and just got blanked 1-0 by the Nats for the second day in a row.
