There's a group of fans congregated outside of the center field fence/gate |

White Sox call of the Chris Davis Homer and in the background you can hear the Orioles announce Gary Thorne with his "goodbye home run" call |
hate White Sox announcers, worst in all of sports imo
|
That 1 cameraman at the right field foul pole just chillin'. I'd lock the camera in position, put my feet up, and catch a few winks on a special occasion like today. |
YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOOAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD YES!
|
Goodbye! Home Run!

Mets drop 2 series in a row and appear to be coming back down to earth this week, but they'll still finish April 15-8 at the worst. I'd have signed up for that in a heartbeat before the season started.

Really hate hearing the rapid clicks of cameras going off on every pitch. Seems worse than ever this year.
|
Hahaha that was great
|
whack the sonofagun to center field
|
didn't know til it was too late that MLB.tv was showing the game free... I would have watched to support them. I heard they were signing fake autographs and pandering to the ghost crowd. Would have been sweet to take that in
|
Really annoys/bothers me how they start pandering for All-Star Game votes in April
|
Yeah that's ridiculous. Hate All Star Voting in general. Yeah the fans will get the obvious people like Trout, Cabrera, etc. in as they should but every year there are a couple of questionable starters because it's not much more than a popularity contest.
They can say it's the "fan's game" and an exhibition all they want but they still tie up something important in the outcome of the game. |
All of that aside, would it kill them to at least hold off until like, mid-May?
|
Yeah, or June 1 even. Gives 2 full months to evaluate and still a full month to vote before the rosters are set.
MLB is big on trying to break their vote record every year tho. dumb. |
I remember kids would stay up all night to vote for a certain person in these things. Especially if the voting was close. Seems like such a waste of time.
Still can't understand how they let the fans vote for the all stars and have the game count as the ONE factor to see who has home field advantage in the WORLD SERIES. |
Carlos Quentin calls it a career at the age of 32.
Homer Bailey is done for the season. Tommy John surgery. List of 2015: 14. |
Cashman scored some points with everyone today.
Yankees ain't paying A-Rod his $6 mil. bonus for home run #660. GOOD. |
A-Rod's apparently said he's not gonna argue, but the MLBPA will likely fight for it anyways. As they should really. His contract says he gets $6 million for hitting 660. He hit 660.
Not paying it could lead to a slippery slope of teams looking for loopholes to avoid paying performance provisions. |
Don't think the Yanks have a chance if it goes to arbitration. They knew full well what could happen by keeping him for this season. Had well over a year to get rid of him (ex. Marlins rumors) or possibly rework the deal to lessen the HR bonus stigma.
|
Damn. 2015 so far seems to the be season of big names getting DFA'd.
Salty with the Marlins got DFA'd last week. Now the A's DFA Cody Ross. |
I know this has been said many times before...
Brian Cashman absolutely hates A-Rod. It's so great. |
At age 35, Pujols is currently hitting at a .210 clip with 4 HR and 10 RBI. Making a cool $24 million this year. Let's take a look at the rest of his contract shall we:
2016: $25,000,000 2017: $26,000,000 2018: $27,000,000 2019: $28,000,000 2020: $29,000,000 2021: $30,000,000 Pretty hard to see that not ending up as the worst contract of all time. By a significant margin. |
Gotta love the backloaded contract.
|
And yet teams will continue to dole out these ridiculously long deals for guys in their 30s.
Never understood why, if you really wanted a player, you wouldn't pay a ridiculous yearly amount for a shorter time. Like, here's 5 years $150 million Albert. |
Mets have come crashing back down to earth spectacularly. Since their 11 game winning streak they've now lost 7 of 10 and just got blanked 1-0 by the Nats for the second day in a row. Thanks to the streak they're still 6 games over .500 but they don't even come close to resembling the same team.
On the plus side, they have a really weird schedule this week with 2 off days. With Wright apparently due back Saturday that means they'll only have 3 more games without him. They need him back in the lineup in a bad way. |

Breaking News: James Taylor is a Red Sox fan.

No big league teams going to Carolina in his mind.

Brewers fired manager Ron Roenicke. Happened during the night's Yanks-Red Sox game.
|
Wow. It's the first week of May. I'm not a fan of his (I think he got out foxed by LaRussa when MKE had a great team and should have gone to the series) but this seems like a GM trying to shift blame for a team he assembled that looks all out of sorts.
Name their starting first baseman without looking it up. |
Adam Lind.

Rumor: Craig Counsell named new manager.
