Lol at Rizzo's reaction. That was hilarious.

Yeah that was great
|
RDD posts great baseball clips that bring joy to TPWWforums.com posters.

Freezing the pucks in hockey will be the next scandal just watch.

30 new jobs created under the new commissioner!

First thought: How does one deflate a baseball?
Second thought:  at the mental image of someone throwing a deflated baseball. At least MLB went public about how its a bad idea to let teams themselves control game balls. Don't think the NFL even bothered to say they were changing the ball rules. |
Tulo "supposedly" wants out of Colorado, although no formal trade request is out there, yet.
Don't know what team would take him since he's got a crazy contract he's carrying with him. Unless it's gonna be one of those.........let's say........Josh Hamilton deals. |
He's wanted out for a while, right?
|
Didn't want out with the 10-year $157 mil. deal he signed back in 2011, did he?
Anyway. He's due $124 mil. from now up until 2020. Teams are gonna have to give up a lot or take a lot for this to work. |
Ya'll can get on the Rizzo MVP bandwagon if you want.
|
The Didi Gregorious era in NY is on life support and Fuck th Rockies if they trade Tulo to them
|
Terry Collins is the worst fucking manager in the league. Jesus.
|
also fuck the Indians for pulling Corey Kluber with 18 K's after 8 innings. guys are allowed to go to an outrageously high pitch count for no-hitters/perfect games yet you pull the guy who had the chance to do something that might be even more impressive and certainly a hell of a lot rarer.
|
113 pitches in a two run game for a team that, if they want to get back in it, needs every win they can scratch out? Pulling him was the right choice even if it would have been cool to see if he could have gotten to 20 or 21 ks.
A manager can't in good conscience take the reigning Cy young winner and have him throw 135 pitches in one game. You would want to skip his next start unless you wanted to risk long term injury which you're already doing. Anything past 115 in a non playoff game is not advisable. |
Where did punching all those guys out in one game get Kerry Wood? It's a nice little accomplishment but means little if not nothing in the long run. Not worth risking injury to your ace, who's been pretty bad up to this point.
|
Cody Allen to this point in the season has been one of the worst closers in baseball. You're damn right I would have thrown Kluber out there with a chance to do something that has literally only been done 4 times in 9 innings in the history of baseball.
It'd be one thing if he showed signs of laboring through the 8th inning, but no. He was fucking dealing. I'd give him a cap of 95-100 pitches the next start or something. |
Did they win?
|
Of course they did. Doesn't mean I can't still disagree with the decision to not give the guy a chance to make history. If he hadn't given up that one measly hit they certainly wouldn't have pulled him, yet they're fine pulling him when he was on the verge of a far more impressive accomplishment?
I'd also argue that the Cardinals were probably ecstatic that Allen was brought in at that point. The Indians were fortunate it didn't blow up in their face. |

Kerry Wood's 20 k game may be the best pitched game in the history of MLB

Tulowitski ain't gonna ask for a trade.

The fire in the smokestacks at Great American Ballpark last night totally looked like the World Trade Center on 9-11.

hate baseball (and 9-11)

The first no-hitter of the season will have to wait another day. Justin Bour lines a first pitch single up the middle to spoil Shelby Miller's no-hit bid with 2 outs in the 9th.
|
I laughed at the 8 Marlins fans in the stands that were shown cheering and celebrating the no-hitter ending. Feel like if I happened to get the 1 in 485493543589435 chance to be there live for a no-hitter I'd rather just see it closed out, unless the game was still in reach for my team. In this case it was 6-0 with 2 runs in the 9th.

Great day for some Pennsylvania baseball teams to lose.
|
And now Mike Redmond fired after the game.
|
Hell yeah, Phillies! 5 in a row!
|
Yankees going into the same tailspin the Mets did after getting off to a hot start.
None too pleased. |
Dan Jennings, the Marlins GM, is the new Marlins Manager.
A GM being a manager in the same season. Is there precedent for this? |
Ted Turner back in 1979 sent the Braves manger on a scouting trip and took over as interim manager for one game
|
With Dan Jennings becoming the manager, Assistant GM Mike Berger was promoted to GM.
Shame really. Would have been funny to see Jennings hold both jobs simultaneously. |
Come into the dugout wearing a suit & tie, nerdy glasses, holding a briefcase.

take 2 out of 3 from the Cards
get blown out by the Brewers cool |

Bryce Harper becomes the first player (that I can remember, at least) to get ejected for not staying in the batter's box. |
