Stanchion strikes again. Shit break for the sharks.

Arashi Kage 05-25-2011 02:10 AM

I expected a flukey goal to end this game. No complaints here. :y:

CANUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How awesome that 17 years ago to the day, the Canucks won the West by beating the Leafs in 2nd OT. Tonight, history repeated itself - so cool!!!

El Fangel 05-25-2011 02:10 AM

Rep to whomever tells me what happened. at work so can't see.

El Fangel 05-25-2011 02:12 AM

Love how 17 years ago,.Toronto was a team to be worried about facing.

Canucks went to keep it in the offensive zone along the boards / glass at the blue line. Puck almost went up into the mesh, but actually deflected off on a tangent from the stanchion. Caught everyone off guard, puck came right to Bieksa who shot it from near the point and caught Niemi looking.

Arashi Kage 05-25-2011 02:20 AM

Lou with 54 saves!! Best game of the season without a doubt. :y:

Wow.

Would have been hilarious if Chara did that instead and went over and hugged the stanchion.

I already made my finals prediction.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

now that that's over with...

Finals...For hockey, Bruins would be a better match. Original 6 team in the final? Great success. I am a Nucks fan first and foremost, but if the Nucks do have to lose, I would rather it be to the B's than the Bolts. Who really wants to see a team from Florida win the cup twice in 10 years? Thats not Hockey...

Nucks vs B's? I would even say the Nucks are the underdogs in that series. Nucks vs Bolts? TB plays more to the Nucks style, except the Nucks are better. St Louis, Lecavilier, Stamkos are great, but Lucic, Chara, bring a lot more boom than the Nucks. Its going to be exciting, that's a guarantee

Stickman 05-25-2011 02:58 AM

Canucks are the best team in hockey, how could you possibly think they'd be the underdog? Canucks in 4-5

The Fraze 05-25-2011 04:01 AM

For some reason I knew there was gonna be some weird, fluke ending to the game. Unfortunately it was for the wrong side. Fuck. Either way, congrats to Vancouver. Perhaps their 40th year is the one.

ps.

The team that wins the President's Trophy should never be considered the underdog or else they don't deserve the trophy. Hoping for the Lightning, but we certainly have to think that the Canucks are taking the cup home.

The Naitch 05-25-2011 01:54 PM

17 years to the day, and in the same 2 OT_style

Olympics 78 in Montreal: won the cup a year later, same with Calgary in 88 follwed by a cup in 89, and now Van 2010 and the cup in 2011

it's destiny

A lot of the Nucks success in the playoffs has been from a physical game. B's are more physical. Kesler's not going to be able to park himself in front of the net with Chara around. Maybe underdog is a bit of an overstatement, but Boston or Philly were the 2 teams out of the East I was worried about the most going into the playoffs.

Part of the reason the Nucks won the Presidents trophy is because of the division they play in. Oilers, Avs, Wild and Flames - None of them made the playoffs.

I am not trying to take any credit away from the Nucks, but if they played in Pacific or Central division, the Presidents trophy wouldn't have come as easy.

it's destiny

All three teams won the President's Trophy/finished 1st in points (trophy didn't exist in '79) the season following the Olympics as well.

Adder 05-25-2011 07:34 PM

7 games, then 6, now 5. Here comes a 4 game sweep in the finals.

Even despite the division, they have to beat teams outside of that. I see what you're saying, it was made easier. But I still think the President's Trophy winner should never be the underdog.

A bigger portion of their success is from their team speed and puck possession. The funny thing is during the season we lost to the Bruins and the Lightning.

Yeah, as I said earlier, "Underdog" was probably a bit of an overstatement...But they are a team that can beat the Nucks. The Hawks gave me a bit of a scare when they took it to game 7, but going into that series, I wasn't worried about them...wasn't worried about the Predators...wasn't worried about the Sharks.

Regular season doesn't mean much when you're comparing East/West

Great 5-2 goal by ST Louis a minute ago,,,

Emperor Smeat 05-25-2011 11:50 PM

 2nd game in a row to end and then a brawl attempted. Game 7 is going to end in a massive brawl or at least have one guaranteed.

Tampa won 5-4 to send it to a Game 7.

Bruins Defense were sloppy too many times and Tampa took advantage. The worst being after making it 3-4, Bruins then messed up badly and Tampa quickly regained its 2 goal lead.

You guys might like this quiz: Can you name the highest money earning NHL players from '89 - '08?

I only got 11/20. My mind went blank during the quiz, I knew that I'd be kicking myself once the results came up. There were an easy 5 that I should have had (5th, 9th, 15th, 18th, 20th).

I"ll say though, 4th and 7th place, never, ever would have thought about them. :p

Took forever to think of him as well. For the same reason's.

MVP 05-27-2011 10:24 AM

Nerves are high for tonight's game. The B's defense can't be as sloppy as it was in Game 6. Also, Kaberle needs to be less predictable on the PP.

El Fangel 05-27-2011 10:27 AM

ARGHHHHHHH JESUS CHRIST MOTHERFUCKER!

I Did the Stanley Cup champs one and only got 18/19

SPOILER: show
Because they had the Maroons cup as seperate from the Canadiens. Fucking went through all the teams from Anaheim to Washington and thought what the fuck is going on. Bullshit.

Come on, don't blame the guy. He finally get's to be on the ice for playoff hockey, he is likely overexcited about everything.

Ha ha ha I knew that would get most people.

El Fangel 05-27-2011 10:32 AM

Literally sat there for 3.5 mins as I had the first 18 almost instantly.

The Naitch 05-27-2011 12:39 PM

not only do the Canucks have the destiny numbers as previously stated, but the Lightning and Bruins have identical records and other identical stats. Those who saw it on TV know what I'm getting at. DUNNO I just saw it on Sportnet but this is the closest thing I could find to it. All will be decided on this 100th game

:D BRUINS ARE IN THE FINALS
:D Horton's monster goal.

1-0 Game 7 win, 4-3 series win. What a great game and both goalies were insanely good.

Boston vs Vancouver for the Cup

21 years since last time Bruins were in the Finals (1990) and 17 years for Vancouver (1994).
