Didn't know he was actually locked for a few more years.

Most reports and comments on ESPN were about him being a free agent or at least one of those special types where a trade or draft picks have to be done after this season.

Dragon 07-25-2010 10:28 PM

Yeah, I think he's signed for 12M in 2011 and 2012 and 2013 there's a team option.

Kind of amazing that the Mariners get Smoak for half a year of Cliff Lee who is almost guaranteed not to re-sign in Texas and the DBacks get Joe Saunders for 2 and a half years of Haren on a reasonable contract. I know Haren isn't Cliff Lee and that he isn't having an amazing year this year but that doesn't take away from what he's done the past 5 years.

Sick deal for the Angels

DaveWadding 07-26-2010 12:03 AM

Excuse me while I go blow up Chase Field.

RP 07-26-2010 08:11 AM

i think the Cubs are done.

I also think Tyler Colvin is the next Stan Musial

Emperor Smeat 07-26-2010 09:50 PM

Rays have to feel good today, someone threw a no-hitter and this time they were not the loosing side of it.

Supreme Olajuwon 07-26-2010 09:50 PM

GG Matt Garza

ClockShot 07-26-2010 09:50 PM

He ain't called Big Game Garza for nothing.

Congrats.

Supreme Olajuwon 07-26-2010 09:52 PM

Another no hitter in a half empty ballpark.

SammyG 07-26-2010 09:52 PM

Good job Garza

Supreme Olajuwon 07-26-2010 09:52 PM

good job Florida fan

RP 07-26-2010 10:17 PM

I hate this Reds vs Brewers series. I want the Reds to lose badly, but the Brewers are quietly red hot and creeping up the central.

ClockShot 07-26-2010 10:20 PM

Greinke and the Royals are getting fucking mauled by the Twins right now.

RP 07-26-2010 10:25 PM

Brewers win. 8-2 in there last 10

RP 07-26-2010 10:25 PM

Cubs still have 16 total games left against the Reds and Cards. Maybe they're not out. They need to win every single one though lol.

DaveWadding 07-26-2010 10:30 PM

Watching the Angels game. I hate this.

Emperor Smeat 07-26-2010 11:35 PM

Dan Haren hurt in 1st game after being traded from D'backs to L.A. Angels.

Line drive hit back to him hits his pitching arm and forces him out of the game in the 5th inning.

That whole shaving pie thing has lead to a few injuries.

It also led to Tim McCarver disecting AJ Burnett's pie throwing to Swisher when Burnett was injured...later to be found he punched a door.

"IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN FROM THE PIE"

So on what planet is any game against the Orioles a big game?

Supreme Olajuwon 07-27-2010 03:37 PM

I don't think that's what he was saying. I believe he was just looking for any reason to take a baseball story that does not involve the Baltimore Orioles to try to relate it to the Baltimore Orioles.

Triple Naitch 07-27-2010 04:20 PM

Droford's Six Degrees of Baltimore Orioles Separation

In theaters this fall.

Legendary624 07-27-2010 05:27 PM

Big Matchup tonight. Braves and Nats.

First time we will get to see "The Phenom" Steven Strasburg vs. "The Kid" Jason Heyward. Who's ready?

Pfft. Alex Rodriguez vs. Cleveland's "new guy" Josh Tomlin is more interesting than that.

Legendary624 07-27-2010 07:13 PM

Strasburg scratched....gotta feel for the thousands of bandwagon fans who paid just to him pitch.

RP 07-27-2010 09:00 PM

Lilly is pitching great again and suprise! No run support

I just found it funny that the guy can go out and give up 4 hrs and 7 runs to the anemic Orioles offense that can't do shit lately and then come back 5 days later and pitch a no hitter vs a Tigers team that is much better offensively. You would think he'd pitch the no hitter vs the Orioles and get blasted by the Tigers. Its just funny how baseball works, no real explanation for it.

Skippord 07-27-2010 09:22 PM

the Tigers offense is beaten to death though

Droford 07-27-2010 09:36 PM

The Os are on the verge of losing to the Blue Jays again, moving to 0-11 this season. I cannot find the info on when the last time a team lost a season series to another team within their own division since they started playing unbalanced schedules and playing each other 18 times a year.

Rep for someone who can find out if going 0-18 would be a record or not.

Yankees went 0-12 vs the A's in 1990.

Yeah that was the biggest ripoff I have ever been a part of. What a joke. The fucking GM decided to pull him while he was warming up. How is that not the most transparent ploy for money in the history of sports

I only checked going back to 2003 with the Tigers and 2004 with the Dbacks since both owned the worst records (ESPN only goes back to 2002 for extended records), Diamondbacks managed 3 wins in 19 games vs Dodgers.

Tigers only managed 4 wins in 19 games while both teams did end the season win-less against a club but not to a divisional team. A few clubs matched the 4 to 5 wins in 18 to 19 games but nobody tied or went worse than the Dbacks in 2004 with divisional rivals.

Supreme Olajuwon 07-28-2010 07:23 AM

The Pirates went 1-14 against the Brewers in 2008.
The Rays went 1-11 against the Yankees in 1998.
The Mariners went 2-17 against the A's in 2006.
The Orioles went 2-16 against the Red Sox in 2009.
The Marlins went 2-11 against the Phillies in 1999.
The Padres went 2-11 against the Diamondbacks in 1999.

Supreme Olajuwon 07-28-2010 07:36 AM

Cannot believe Jose Bautista is still pounding the ball. 4 homers and 9 rbi in his last 3 games.

Supreme Olajuwon 07-28-2010 11:33 AM

I really wish the Yanks would just sack up and trade for Dunn. Do you realize what kind of monster they'd be unleashing on that right field fence at Yankee Stadium?

I really just want good things to happen for Adam Dunn. He's never hit in a good lineup in his entire career or played a meaningful game. Come on New York. Be cool.

MVP 07-28-2010 11:52 AM

I've been crossing my fingers for the Red Sox to make a move for Adam Dunn, but that probably won't happen until the offseason.

Innovator 07-28-2010 11:54 AM

Everyone assumes Yankees will get Carl Crawford, I don't know where he'll play. Gardner has been great this year.

Evil Vito 07-28-2010 12:22 PM

Yeah Crawford to the Yanks isn't really a lock. Plus, having played with the Rays his whole career it's not exactly unfathomable that he wouldn't want to play with a team he's always viewed as a huge rival.

Would fucking love him in right field for the Mets.

But Lee to the Yanks I'm willing to say is a lock, unfortunately

I think the White Sox are a top contender for him, and he'd probably be a great fit there for them.
They have Konerko, but they could slide Dunn to DH and have massive power in the middle of that lineup.

Speaking of the White Sox, I was at the beatdown they served the Mariners last night.
