So they called up a 22 year old kid from Single A just because he was already on the 40-man roster. The idea would be he'd just be the 8th man in the bullpen for a week or so but would only pitch in a blowout or if there was a crazy extra innings game.

Instead, Collins decides to put the Single A pitcher in with the Mets only down 3-0. Against the Toronto offense. Gave up 5 runs in 2/3 of an inning. The poor kid's confidence is probably completely shattered.</font>

I mean his 2013 and 2014 seasons weren't atrocious, they were serviceable numbers for a back-end starter, but they were expecting him to be an ace. Can't blame it on age for a knuckleballer. And it's not like his 2012 Cy Young year was a fluke either, he was very good for the Mets in 2010 and 2011.
