Such a great episode... main event was so fun

WWE light would be them ramming dog food in peoples' mouths and doing bra and panties matches. Frankly, you're offbase on this one, Smeat. I don't doubt Omega and the Bucks' talent, I've seen them do some great work. I just don't think that great work has occurred in AEW. |

I miss those matches lol |
There's a lot of fans that prefer those matches to current women's wrestling.
|
Those fans are mongoloids who should be euthanized, not catered to.
|
Those are the fans they are trying to court though. "The lapsed fan from the Attitude Era". I unfortunately have spoken to quite a few of these cretins. They exist and there's way more of them than you'd believe.
|
Honestly don't think that "old lapsed Attitude Era fans" would even be looking for the "same thing" nowadays.... just can't see the "same stuff" appealing to them these days.....
|
They would be bored to tears with these long matches.
|
When people say they want the Attitude Era back, what they really mean is they want wrestling to be fun. Have you watched the Attitude Era recently? 80% of it is garbage. I don’t know anyone who is clamoring for more Road Dogg v. Headbanger Thrasher matches. But we all tolerated it because it was part of the spectacle of Austin and McMahon.
|
1998 Raw is atrocious. I tried to go back and watch and I couldn't get through.
I've also watched it on the network with a couple of friends who more or less stopped watching after 2001 and they were eating it up That's all they wanted to watch. |
Fans don't necessarily know what they want. And you can't replicate Stone Cold Steve Austin or the Rock.
I just don't think the way to more viewers is blowing your load with long, over-the-top matches. You get there with good stories and establishing characters on your T.V. IMO. Then, when the PPVs come around, you go 100% to give fans' their money's worth. |
in other words, long, taxing, dramatic matches should be something special. Not something you see on any given Tuesday.
There's a fine balance to giving fans just enough on your TV, where the action is hot but not overabundant. |
The Attitude Era was great because it had stars. AEW has 3 stars: Jericho, Moxley, and Cody. And Cody has said he’s taking a backseat. So they need more stars. But who can you develop? MJF is an obvious choice who is basically the next Randy Orton but he needs time. PAC and Omega are two of the best in the world but I dunno about star quality. Page isn’t there yet.
|
They have to do more for those guys that they choose though.
Too much 50/50 booking already. Nobody seems strong except maybe MJF and Jericho. Though, if they're going by the NWA methodology, there's a chance the strong heels are by design. Because the booking is centered around the chase of the bad guy on top and not one dominant face champ. Or so I've heard. |

Omega should have already been an established star for AEW but he mentioned before about wanting to take it easy this year for himself and being more focused on making sure the women's division was on very stable ground first. Based on what he said about the division for early 2020, that goal is almost done and he's likely going to start ramping things up for himself very soon. |
OMG THIS IS INCREDIBLE!
How did I not know about this??? Kid was entertaining even back then! |
a bit behind the times, that circulated some time ago
|
And he also released a magnificent statement via Tweet that I can’t be bothered to find right now where he blamed that “massive whale” for releasing the footage to try to latch on to his rising star.

In another sign that an NJPW/AEW working agreement may have been reached....Tanahashi says he intends on asking for an AEW World Title match if he beats Jericho at the Dome
|
Okada in AEW please
|
If that's the case, I want an official announcement that the Ring of Honor partnership is over.
|
I feel like a NJPW boost would be very beneficial to AEW. Tanahashi beats Jericho at WrestleKingdom, imagine if he then defeated him on Dynamite or at a PPV. Then lost his first defense to Kenny.

ROH has nobody left that New Japan really want, Cobb is likely going to sign with NJPW directly when his contract is up, Scurll is gone, Cabana is gone. Cant think of anyone else of note they've even brought over this year.
A partnership would be great for AEW, not sure it really does all that much for New Japan. Would be cool for Tana though, maybe they could make use of some other singles guys who are in a holding pattern and give them something to do - EVIL, Suzuki, Goto, Ishii etc. I guess it would New Japan a boost in their somewhat lacking tag divisions (if Gedo even cares about that), maybe provide them with more Jr Heavyweights for tournaments. |

Of course because why would you DVR NXT when it is added to the network the following day? That is presenting a skewed narrative. |

NJPW would get a big boost in terms of US star power by getting access to the Elite crew again. They took a noticeable hit in both star power and merch sales in the US when the Elite left. Unlike ROH, they did start improving their situation towards the latter half of the year but having those guys around would still be a big boost for the company. |

If I was Tony Kahn I'd angle to get a deal with NJPW. I'd say one condition in that nobody working in AEW from the AAA deal can work in the same match as someone working for CMLL through NJPW, which isn't common anyway. I'd encourage my younger talents to sign contracts with MLW or WOW, work for any company other than WWE/NXT/WWN, ROH, Impact and CMLL (to keep AAA happy).
AEW really never needs to do house shows. Instead, letting their workers make indie dates all over the world, they will stay relevant and original, which honing their craft in the way which makes a world class wrestler. |

Of course they'd find a way to blame Cornette.

AEW is just fine with what they have going. Dynamite, Dark, and even BTE is more than enough.

Tana beating Jericho at the Dome and then returning the favor by losing in an AEW Title defense seems like classic booking. |
