I couldn't give a fuck about watching Jon Fitch until last night. He got over more losing than he ever could have winning.

RP 08-12-2008 07:46 AM

ROFL his face was so fucked up. I'm sorry, but i saw nothing positive about Jon Fitch getting man handled by a frenchie for 5 rounds.

Rob 08-12-2008 01:45 PM

You mean aside from GSP not being able to finish him?

RP 08-12-2008 04:28 PM

Who cares? He dominated the guy. You wanna give the guy props for not being rendered unconcious? Comon.

Rob 08-12-2008 05:21 PM

I give the man props for taking an arse kicking and refusing to give up.

Fabien Barthez 08-13-2008 05:33 AM

I just got to the end of Lesnar/Herring, since this is the first time I've had the time to sit and watch it.

Brock was a fucking beast. All his strikes are vicious and powerful. he fucked Herring up with those knees, and his eye was pretty sick.

That being said, I lost a ton of respect for him at the end of the fight. There was no need for the horsing about (MTP) near the final bell, or to laugh in Heath's face when it sounded. I don't recall Frank Mir doing that to him when he was made to look like the worlds biggest chump that night. No class, man.

Right, on to the next squashfest.

Impact! 08-13-2008 07:19 AM

Gotta remember that Herring disrespected him at the beginning of the fight...

Reavant 08-13-2008 10:00 AM

how?

Innovator 08-13-2008 10:06 AM

Herring disrespected him by getting poked in the eye by the ref

Impact! 08-13-2008 10:45 AM

That

Nonsense. Even at the press conference, Brock was being a dick. If he wants a heel run then good for him. It will work. People want to like him though and he is doing zero to help that.

GSP "postpones" Penn fight..

Quote:

It almost seemed BJ Penn had his eyes not only on the welter weight and light weight titles, but on Joe Silva's job as well. But before Penn fills in the rest of the card for the UFC's Dec. 27 event he might want to start looking for a new main event.

Originally reported by RDS.ca, Georges said this of his schedule:

"Many state that my next opponent should be BJ Penn. Nothing has obviously been signed yet, but he is my No. 1 challenger. I believe he deserves a chance to challenge me for my title, but we’ll see what happens on that matter in the next few weeks…

"On my end, however, I don’t know if I’ll be stepping back into the Octagon before 2009. I’ve fought four times in the last 12 months. I therefore need some rest. I like the life I lead, but I sometimes need to relax. It’s not the fight as such that’s exhausting; it’s all the preparation that comes with it.

I’ve made so many sacrifices to prepare myself. During training camps, I practically do not live anymore. It’s therefore on a psychological level that I need to recharge."

The rematch has been talked about ad nauseam since their first fight in 2006 and gets new life whenever GSP or Penn handily beats an opponent. Serious speculation on the super fight began again before GSP's fight with Jon Fitch when Penn announced he was fighting GSP on Dec. 27.

While GSP has stated that he'll gladly defend his title against anyone who deserves a shot he clearly doesn't want BJ Penn calling all the shots in regard to their rematch.

<hr>
Fine by me.. Sure I want to see this fight just as bad as anyone else but GSP def deserves to take time off.. Hopefully well see this fight next spring..

Prolly see Penn vs KenFlo before that..

RP 08-14-2008 10:17 PM

Ken Florian needs his shot cause he's a beast. Everyone talks like Florian was running, but that wasnt the case. He had a brilliant fight plan. Its not like the guy hasnt finished other people out. Huerta isnt the type you wanna just stand in fron of and trade blows. Huerta got out worked. Florian deserves the title shot, not some match with Edgar or Sherk.

But that said, i really wanna see Penn vs GSP. But GSP is right. He needs some time to rest. He's fought a ton of fights this year and now they want him to step in with BJ Friggin Penn. Comon. Let the guy rest til Febuary or March. If Penn deserves to get into the ring with GSP, he'll beat Florian.

But i'm rooting for Florian. I've been on about this guy for a while now. He's the real deal. Love his fighting.

Kris P Lettus 08-14-2008 11:51 PM

I love me some KenFlo too but if he wins, it would mad lessen the fight between GSP and Penn later on..

Kris P Lettus 08-14-2008 11:57 PM

Fedor Emelianenko greeted fans Tuesday at the new Affliction store in Los Angeles, California. Raw Vegas was on hand to interview the WAMMA heavyweight champion.Highlights:
  • Said he's interested in fighting Randy Couture to keep competing in the highest level and to reward fans who have supported the sport.
  • Said he has never said anything to insult UFC President Dana White. It's White's problems and he can go on living with whatever issues he has.
  • Said he likes Brock Lesnar very much. Although Fedor hasn't seen too much of Lesnar's fights, Fedor sees that Lesnar is very strong physically and is someone with a bright future and a lot potential. Lesnar is a fight Fedor would be interested in and Lesnar would definitely be a worthy opponent.
  • Doesn't think about anything before a fight. Frees himself of any emotion and thoughts that would complicate things. Paces back and forth to keep the blood flowing and not to get stagnant.

Babalu Will Fight for Strikeforce at Playboy Mansion, Not for Affliction vs. Tito Ortiz

Posted Aug 13th 2008 5:56PM by Michael David Smith (author feed)

Although a Tito Ortiz vs. Renato "Babalu" Sobral match has been widely expected at the October 11 Affliction: Day of Reckoning event, it clearly isn't happening. Ortiz still hasn't signed his long-awaited Affliction contract, and now Babalu has agreed to fight for Strikeforce.

Strikeforce announced today that Babalu will challenge its light heavyweight champ, Bobby Southworth, at the Playboy Mansion on Saturday, September 20, and Strikeforce VP Mike Afromowitz confirmed to me via e-mail that Babalu will not fight on the October 11 Affliction card.

Affliction's October 11 card has some solid fights on it, but it's almost certain to be a money loser, and the inability to close the deal on the Babalu vs. Ortiz fight is a disappointment. Strikeforce doesn't spend the kind of money on star power that Affliction does, but Strikeforce clearly has a better understanding of how to run an MMA business than Affliction.
:(

Rob 08-15-2008 12:34 PM

Tito Ortiz hasn't signed with them yet so it wasn't gonna happen in October.

Kris P Lettus 08-15-2008 12:59 PM

Yeah, that's what the article said..

Reavant 08-16-2008 10:44 AM

ELITEXC ANGLING FOR NOONS VS DIAZ 2 ON CBS

It has been nine months since K.J. Noons surprised many in the mixed martial arts world, winning the EliteXC 160-pound divisional title with a TKO stoppage of Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Nick Diaz following the first round of their championship bout.

Noons followed up his title-winning performance with an impressive first round TKO finish of another UFC veteran in Yves Edwards.

Over that same span, Diaz has strung together a three-fight victorious streak, stopping Katsuya Inoue, Muhsin Corbbrey, and Thomas Denny, all by TKO. Now his camp is clambering for a rematch.

“His win over Thomas Denny was a crucial test for him. He needed to prove he could make weight and pass California's stringent anti-marijuana drug policy. Diaz easily made weight and passed the drug test,” said a recent post on GracieFighter.com, a site operated by Diaz’ trainer Cesar Gracie. “His recent wins have convinced EliteXC that his next fight should be a rematch with K.J. Noons at the Oct. 4 CBS show. However, it is still unclear if K.J.'s camp will take the fight.”

Apparently there isn’t that much of a cloud over Noons’ camp after all. According to EliteXC vice president Jared Shaw, the promotion has tried to make the fight happen and wants it to happen as part of the Oct. 4 event, but to no avail.

“Nick Diaz is the No. 1 contender. K.J. Noons should step up and be the champion that we think he is and take this fight. Nick Diaz will take this fight any place, anywhere,” Shaw told MMAWeekly.com. “(Noons’ management) won’t even return our calls.

“I don’t understand it. This fight on CBS is maximum exposure and the opportunity for maximum sponsorship dollars, way more than he could make on Showtime. At this point, I question his management.”

Shaw was quick to point out, however, that they support Noons as their champion. “We believe in K.J. as our champion. For some reason (his camp) is not coming straight out and saying no, but they are making it very difficult to make it happen.

“His manager doesn’t want us talking to him directly. Who knows what K.J. even knows about the situation, but his management is holding us hostage.”

With time winding down to be able to promote such a marquee fight properly for Oct. 4, Shaw seemed to be running out of hope that the bout would get done in time for the promotion’s third edition of CBS-EliteXC Saturday Night Fights. He did say, however, that EliteXC officials are ready to make the fight happen if Noons and his camp would agree to it.

“Hopefully K.J. wants the fight and hopefully he will instruct his management to take the fight,” commented Shaw. “K.J. signed a contract. All we want is for him to honor that contract, fight on Oct. 4 on CBS, and prove that he’s the champion we think he is. Right now, he’s not representing us as the EliteXC champion.”

Rob 08-23-2008 01:18 PM

He has no business making up his own rankings to decide who does and doesn't deserve title shots the little fucker. If he remembers right, he was lucky to even get a shot in the first place. Fucking little cunt.

UFC related - Cheick Kongo is avoiding fighting Brock Lesnar at all costs and GSP vs. Penn II looks like its on for January 31.

Vastardikai 08-23-2008 07:12 PM

^

Yeah, I've been losing respect for Noons as of late. Then again, he works for WWEliteXC. A little Sports-Entertainment in MMA isn't bad, but an MMA promotion BUILT around Sports Entertainment...

Kongo = smart. He would get decimated.

Kris P Lettus 08-23-2008 07:15 PM

I def see why Kongo wants to stay away from him.. He's a good striker but has little to no ground game.. Lesnar would take him down at will and GnP..

He has a "punchers chance" but really don't see him hurting Lesnar on their feet..

WOOOO GSP vs Penn though.. People on other sites are bitching cause Penn hasn't "earned" the title shot at welterweight..

LOL

Rob 08-23-2008 07:58 PM

Kongo isn't smart. He wants a title shot yet wants to pick his own opponents.

Penn not deserving a welterweight shot? Bollocks. You always should book the biggest title fight possible. This is the biggest fight out there at 170lbs.

Kris P Lettus 08-23-2008 10:40 PM

This is a response to me from a guy that was saying he needed to win some fights before getting a title shot..

Quote:

Yes, I am saying he needs to fight, and win at welterweight before he gets a title shot. I mean, come on, it's been over 4 years since he won a fight at 170, and since then, has had 2 fights, and 2 losses.

That does not constitute a title shot in my opinion.

His last fight at 170, was a title shot, directly after his loss to GSP, and he lost that too.

Why is he being given so many undeserved chances at the belt?

Sure, he is in a league of his own at 155, but in case you are unaware, that is not welterweight, that is a different weightclass altogether (who'd have thought?)

Rob 08-24-2008 05:30 AM

Well he got his first title shot at 170lbs without beating anyone in the division and he won the title. Randy Couture lost 2 straight fights at 205lb after going to that division after losing at 265lbs and he won the heavyweight title.

It's a load of bollocks anyway. If Lennox Lewis announced he was coming back to boxing today, he wouldn't be in line for a title fight on this logic.

RP 08-24-2008 07:18 AM

155 is a stacked division. I dont know if that guy you're talking to is aware of that. Huerta, Guida, Florian, Penn, Stevenson, Sherk, Franca, Edgar, Griffin. Thats a stacked division. It might be better then Welterweight.

RP 08-24-2008 07:51 AM

I'm calling this shit.

IMO, these matches from now to the end of the year will be the best matches

Karo Parisyan vs Yoshiyuki Yoshida
Spencer Fisher vs Melvin Guillard

Rob 08-24-2008 07:01 PM

I can't get excited over Parisyan or Guillard.

Kris P Lettus 08-24-2008 10:29 PM

Guillard is the f'n man..

:foc:

Rob 08-25-2008 01:22 AM

How is he anything other than a douchebag little cunt?

Rich Clementi will forever be a legend in my eyes for humbling this little fucker.

I wouldnt say hes as much picking his opponents as hes just avoiding lesnar. Which is smart if he wants to keep moving up the ladder at all.
