Aside from Mario, name one player better, without considering goaltenders, which is a totally different thing altogether.

Also, change your fucking status. I dunno, something to like Golfing.

Soft? By what definition? He also went into the corners, he carried guys on his back while suffering the most abuse that no other player receieved, and yet he still dominated. Guys tried to knock him around and knock him off the puck, take him off his game, but he kept on trucking. Impossible to do so, just a fucking tank.

He did have a temper, but many guys have one.

Game 6 means more than game 3, and secondly, it's Hockey vs fucking basketball. Hockey being the most exciting sport going, and a manly man's game, while b-ball is played by a bunch of tall skinny faggots who act macho all the time yet cant play because their fucking finger got jammed.

Hockey, you break jaws, seperate shoulders..whatever...guys wanna go out there.

America, and it's white suburban population trying to be so urban and ghetto. Watch some fucking Hockey.

Also, Canadians dont care what americans watch anyway. Tired of having the game tampered with to suit solely americans who in certain locations will never understand or get the game. They shouldnt even matter.

Instead of blaming Americans who you don't think understand the game, why don't you blame Gary Bettman or the players union who both thought they were above the other and drove 50% of the fan bases away when the lockout occurred

you're being an uninformed asshole right now. Americans like hockey. But they like basketball a bit more. Now if Hockey Finals and Basketball Finals werent on the same night, Americans would watch both. The NBA finals, as far as I know, has been scheduled for a long time now.

well wehn you walk into an NHL related thread and say Game 6 isnt doable because of some crappy NBA game, expect an assholish response.

What, are you stupid. You are exactly why most Canadians piss me off. They have totally unfounded sense of entitlement that they're "better than Americans" simply because they're Canadian.

American fans have just as much "right" to enjoy hockey as Canadian fans. The fact that a large majority of the NHL's revenue comes from American fans too should be noted, since without them the NHL would not exist.

Also, just because you think basketball sucks doesn't mean every other hockey fan does. I enjoy hockey a lot more than I enjoy basketball but let's get serious. Prime time television, most people are gonna be tuning in to the NBA finals over the Cup finals. As much as it sucks for hockey fans, hockey is still a niche sport to most Americans.

There's just one thing I don't necessarily agree with you on, RDD. I believe that it should be pretty even for both Finals games, Stanley Cup and NBA, especially considering there's a TON of Detroit fans just hoping to see them be able to hoist the hardware tonight at the conclusion.

It seems as though you are having trouble comprehending something here. I'm all for americans watching and enjoying Hockey, no matter there location or how hardcore or not they may be.
What I do have an issue with is Bettman altering the sport and as a result pissing off the fans that have always been there, and liked the game the way it was, just so that he can try to expand the market, and to appease people who wont necessarily know any better or care that much...to them, Hockey is Hockey. Sadly, he caters to these people and yet they are off and on.
New jersey is a prime example of a market that irritates the hell out of me..winning seasons all the time, and close enough to Canada as is, yet they have trouble filling up half their arena. Then you've got the bandwagon of Carolina, raucous during the post season and yet where are they during the season?
I could care less if Basketball is on at the same time as Hockey. Bettman needs to stop worrying about that shit, because if people want to watch Hockey, they will. If not, well hey, move on, their loss.

road doggy dogg 06-09-2009 03:27 PM

Actually, it's Bettman's loss. If people aren't watching his game, he doesn't get revenue, and he goes out of business.

That's true. A potential clinching game is always bound for more excitement, even from just casual fans. Whereas the NBA is just a game 3, where the next game will happen regardless.

I don't necessarily think it will be even, but it will be a closer split than what I originally said, undoubtedly. I suspect a lot of people will simply flick back and forth between the two.

I won't watch the NBA, which I know, being from Lansing, MI, and having gone to the very H.S. here in town where Magic played before moving on to MSU and later the Lakers, is practically sacrilege, but I just don't care for the team he played for or the one he founded. (L.A. or Orlando)...:-\

Good thing you aren't in charge then, otherwise there would be no NHL for these "non-caring" Canadians to enjoy.

Looking forward to Game 7, really want to see the Penguins pull it out and win it in Detroit. I've liked them for whatever reason in this series but after seeing multiple Red Wings getting destroyed by Penguins players in game 6 has made jump on the bandwagon even more.

How about when Zetterberg was thrown in the box for goalie interference, when the Pittsburgh player pushed him into Fleury? Wanna field that one?

Corndad 06-12-2009 04:34 PM

Regardless of what happens tonight, It has been truely a great series and one Hockey has needed. Just as last year, I wanna stand up for the Pens fans who get misrepresented in all this. Fact of the matter is this Detroit has the experience and the team depth, while the Pens have the younger legs and star power. I say whoever wins tonight will deserve it. No matter what the bickering between the two sets of fans has been I think we can all agree this will be one for the ages tonight.

IMO if Detriot wins the MVP should be either Zetterberg who has been amazing on Defense of Crosby this series or Osgood pretty much kept them in games where the Pens have outplayed them.

If Pittsburgh wins I know it won't happen but why not give it to someone like a Jordin Stall or Max Talbot. They have as many big goals this series as Malkin does.

Let's Go Pens and lets hope for a great game tonight guys.

I love it. I really never thought I see them win again after those horrible seasons, but last year was awesome and this was well deserved. Just think this team almost didn't exist anymore in Pittsburgh and now Lemieux gets one more along with the young kids. Great Playoffs, great series. You must have been leaping around in joy too much, they showed him like five times in the first two minutes...

Loose Cannon 06-12-2009 11:57 PM

I'm sure he'll be shown enough... probably interviewed too.

Theo Dious 06-13-2009 12:01 AM

Hossa has apparently never read any classical tragedy in his life.

Johnny Vegas 06-13-2009 12:04 AM

Sidney Crosby is the new Wayne Gretzky..i know its probably been said but he now has to be THE lebron james of the NHL, but is now past him.

El Fangel 06-13-2009 12:10 AM

Good game, I really hoped Crosby got badly hurt but what can you do.

Blitz 06-13-2009 12:23 AM

Fallen Angel, you are a fucking moron.

That hit by Franzen was dirty as hell. Hope he faces some disciplinary action.

Lara Emily 06-13-2009 12:58 AM

FUCK YOU DETROIT

PENS WIN MOTHERFUCKERS

DAMN iNATOR 06-13-2009 01:47 AM

Oh well. We came close, but for some reason Detroit just couldn't dig down deep and actually show up to play tonight. I take little solace in that "maybe next year" crap either right now...just feel like the Wings totally wasted this season.

Although, I must say there was quite a few exciting "opportunities" on goal for Detroit but that's not good enough when you're not scoring on some of them. I started whoopin' and hollerin' when the puck hit the top crossbar like, "YESSS!!!", but quickly got depressed again when I realized Detroit had not scored.

Nervous Ferret 06-13-2009 02:01 AM

lol@ last 60 replies or so. Zen being really silly, damninator acting like an asshole/fueding with Lara Emily :wtf:, Splaya being Splaya, and knowing that me and Supreme THE DREAM both had the same idea :o

I just wanted to bring this up in case Splaya forgot.

Skippord 06-13-2009 02:50 AM

god I hate the Penguins

and based totally on Splaya and Daminator's responses in here the Red Wings too

Lara Emily 06-13-2009 02:55 AM

So check this out. I went to the grocery store to get some celebration food, naturally I put on my Pens Tyler Kennedy 3rd Jersey, one of the guys there doing stock says nice jersey, are you a friend of his? I say sadly no and ask him if he is. He says they grew up together, played hockey against each other. He tell me that growing up TK was dirt poor, couldn't pay for his own hockey stuff, he needed to get sponsors to keep him playing, that he basically worked his ass off to make it into JRs and then to make it into the NHL. This kid literally came from nothing, he never had the best hands or the b est shot or playmaking skills, he had determination, a hard work ethic and the old cliche heart. He just went on the ice and worked worked worked and I swear to you I almost broke down in tears right there in the store when this guy told me that. Tyler Kennedy is honestly just a great story. I am so amazingly happy for him.

Well, you are an Avs fan right? You are supposed to not like the Red Wings :p

Loose Cannon 06-13-2009 09:29 AM

I'm watching all the highlights again without pacing back and forth this time. god, Detroit had so many chances and then the one that rolled around on the crossbar

Aren't you a Sens fan?

YOUR Hero 06-13-2009 12:36 PM

Franzen's hit wasn't dirty. Crosby got hurt by trying to get out of the way.

Happy for the Pens.

YOUR Hero 06-13-2009 12:37 PM

Pens won 4 out of the last 5 to take the cup.

road doggy dogg 06-13-2009 12:50 PM

Fuckin' A. I didn't think the Penguins would have the depth to match Detroit for game 7. They definitely proved me wrong, it was fantastic. Staal, Cooke and Kennedy's line was Pittsburgh best line all series, and it was awesome to see Talbot get those goals last night. I am going to be very very very happy all week seeing all the disheartened Wings fans around the city. I normally don't like to kick people when they're down, but I hate arrogant fans the most, and feel it's due. :y:

Fleury's last-second save on Lidstrom had me shitting myself though. INTENSE. Awesome game, awesome series, awesome season.

Come on. Franzen nearly lifted him and drove Crosby's knee into the boards with his.

Zen v.W.o. 06-13-2009 04:11 PM

Apparently Crosby lacks class.

Oh, so THAT'S why it was okay for the Detroit fans to cheer when he got injured. :y:

And boo him when he lifted the Cup. :y:

WTG Detroit! :y:
