Masahiro Sakurai reveals Dr. Wily’s Castle is among the stages included for the game along with the Yellow Devil from Mega Man 3 as the special feature for the stage.

Sakurai also stated the game won't be arriving in Spring 2014 and confirms Nintendo's official response about the Spring release being due to a misquotation.

Sakurai stated "edge hogging" from past games is getting tweaked to give a fairer advantage to people who are actually trying to recover from falling compared to those who purposely fall to block the edges.

Since only one character can be on an edge at a time, when a character is knocked off of the stage, their opponent will often grab the edge, forcing the victim to recover by going up and over them, instead of simply grabbing the edge.

It happens all the time in competitive play, and is common practice by now. However, in Sakurai's "Pic of the day" on Miiverse, he has stated that "There are many changes being made to attack and defense options for grabbing edges. In this picture, Link is actually trumping Mario's grab." The details are obviously sparse, but Sakurai also mentions that "air time and accumulated damage will determine your period of invincibility while hanging on an edge" and "grab controls will no longer be affected by whether you have above or below 100% damage."

There is a small window of invincibility when grabbing on to an edge, but now it looks like a player jumping off just to edge-hog will have little to no invincibility, while someone who is actually recovering will have more. Plus, word on the street is that if someone has used up their invincibility frames while on an edge and another recovering character comes to grab it, the recovering character will knock them off and grab the ledge.

Snakes currently rumored to not be returning based on recent remarks from Hideo Kojima and supposedly Konami not getting involved this time.

The outline feature for the 3DS version was revealed to be an optional feature.

  • Smash Bros. will hit 3DS first this summer, followed by the Wii U release in winter.
  • Confirmed characters: Charizard, Greninja, Yoshi, Sheik, and Zero Suit Samus.
  • Online modes include For Fun (do whatever) and For Glory (Final Destination, no items).
  • The 3DS version has a cool mode called Smash Run in which you fight enemies in a dungeon for five minutes to boost your abilities and then brawl with other players.
  • A bunch of Pokemon are featured once again and now there are Master Balls.
  • "There will be elements in Super Smash Bros. that link both versions of the games."
  • You can customize your move sets when playing with friends locally or online.
  • Wireframe Mac is the best, confirmed.

I really need a pro controller. Been rocking Brawl with the boys lately, getting a hang of Sonic and Zelda (and occasionally Pikachu). Gonna pick up Zero Suit Samus with this one.
