Well...McAdoo will have the Giants job for the remaining 4 years of Eli's deal at minimum. Just don't see a scenario where they make him learn a new offense again.

I guess the move feels somewhat underwhelming because it feels more like a move for the sake of making a move. How different could he possibly be from Coughlin, the guy who mentored him through his only 2 years as offensive coordinator? And we all know Reese is the one who should have been fired.

Still it's not like it was a particularly strong candidate pool.

<s>Eagles leaning on Tom Coughlin as their next coach. Could be a very small deal in terms of years since Coughlin wants to retire within the next 2-3 years.</s> Nevermind, Coughlin just pulled out of the Eagles talk according to ESPN.

Some ESPN NFL related stuff:

Quote:

ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen will be off the air as he begins treatments for throat cancer.

"More than a week ago, I was diagnosed with a Stage IV throat cancer," Mortensen said in a statement Friday. "My focus shifted significantly to gathering information about the specifics of this cancer. The initial diagnosis was confirmed Friday and there is another test remaining that will determine the best possible treatment plan that will commence in the very immediate future.

"Consequently, with the support and encouragement from ESPN president John Skipper and many others at ESPN, I am temporarily stepping away from my normal NFL coverage duties to better engage this opportunity to fight the good fight that is projected to affect almost 1.7 million Americans with new cases in 2016.

"I have many inspirational examples of men, women and children who have faced this very fight. We all know somebody, right? I also have the love and prayers of my wife Micki, my family, my friends, colleagues and, most of all, my faith that serve as sources of tremendous strength. I have a peace about this and look forward to the battle."
In terms of survival rate, around 25% to 50%.

According to reports, Eagles had hired ESPN's Ron Jaworski and Bill Polian as consultants to help out with the head coaching search. Jaworski was in favor of Doug Pederson getting the job which helped sway the team's decision on the hiring.

LA pushing to host Super Bowl 55 now that the Rams are back in the city according to reports. Likely going to get it based on Roger Goodell's habit when it comes to new stadiums making requests.

Chargers recently filed trademarks to own the "LA Chargers" and "Los Angeles Chargers" names. Other people tried to grab those names but likely are getting voided soon. Once the move is official, they have until early next year to decide on sharing a stadium with the Rams or be sole owner of the other stadium. Raiders would get whatever option wasn't picked if they move.

NFL also rumored to have been active in pushing the Chargers to ditch San Diego in favor of LA.

Looks like the NFL are getting a bit more serious than before with the roids allegations report from Al Jazeera.

Unlike the MLB, the NFL originally didn't want to work together with the USADA (US Anti-doping Agency). Either something changed recently or the NFL didn't like ESPN implying they refused help. Now they are working with the USADA to investigate the roids claims and Peyton Manning as the top target for both agencies.

Emperor Smeat 01-29-2016 06:05 PM

Chargers and Rams agree to a preliminary deal to share a stadium in LA. Chargers offering San Diego a final chance to keep the team there but has to be done within a year due to the NFL's demands for the move.

Raiders looking at a possible deal to move to Las Vegas or possibly San Diego if the Chargers do end up moving. Either option wouldn't happen till after next season at the earliest.

ClockShot 01-29-2016 08:01 PM

Read about the Las Vegas proposal.

That has to be the worse place to put the stadium. Gotta find a plot of land on the outskirts of town. IF they end up going there.

Putting up that potential stadium across from McCarron and stone's throw away from the Strip is gonna be a traffic disaster.

Simple Fan 01-29-2016 08:06 PM

I would hate to see the Raiders in San Diego. San Antonio seems like the best fit to me but dont know if Jerry Jones woukd like that.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-29-2016 10:58 PM

Why haven't they tried Oklahoma? Big college football fans there. Could be an easy market.

Emperor Smeat 01-29-2016 11:23 PM

Might be too low of a market especially for tv which is what the NFL cares a lot about. Could also end up with another Dolphins or Jags situation where the huge college football fan base barely transitions over for a pro team support after a while.

According to this list, San Diego is ranked #28 in the nation while Oklahoma is ranked #45 in terms of tv markets. http://www.stationindex.com/tv/tv-markets

Johnny Manziel involved in another off-field incident and only a couple of days after it was being reported Cleveland's owner was willing to give him one more chance to stay on the team.

This time involving allegations of assaulting his ex-girlfriend leading to the police using a helicopter to search for him and the ex-girlfriend later dropping charges. NFL is also investigating the incident for possible punishments against him.

Quote:

Manziel, who has had two tumultuous seasons in the NFL, was identified by Forth Worth police after they were called at about 2 a.m. Saturday to investigate a report of a possible assault at an apartment complex. The officers didn’t find the person who called, but they spoke to an unidentified 23-year-old woman who said she was “involved in a disturbance with her ex-boyfriend” earlier that night in Dallas.

Sgt. Steve Enright later identified him as Manziel. There were no arrests, and it’s not clear if Manziel has yet been questioned.

Police didn’t say if the woman was hurt. An ambulance was called, but she was not taken to a hospital.

The police report said the woman was uncooperative with officers, who were unable to locate a crime scene. The woman raised concerns about her ex-boyfriend’s well-being. Police tried calling Manziel’s cell phone and searching for him — including by helicopter, per the Star-Telegram — before it determined he was safe.

Evil Vito 01-31-2016 07:15 PM

My initial reaction was that Megatron won't make the HOF because he didn't play long enough. But then again most people have Hines Ward going to the HOF and Megatron only has 2 less TD and around 400 fewer years in 5 less seasons.

I think he's going in eventually. It just might take a while for the logjam to clear up.

Doesn't he have to play for the Lions if he un-retires?

Evil Vito 02-01-2016 12:18 AM

Yeah, he does. Any player who retires with time left on their contract officially goes on a reserve list and the team retains rights to the player. A couple of years after Barry retired his agents asked the Lions to trade or release him, which suggested that he wanted to come out of retirement but play for a different team. The Lions refused, so he stayed retired.

Then he became a huge asshole and I replaced it with a Justin Tuck jersey after SB42 that I've been rocking ever since.

Speaking of which...he retired today. Great career. Probably will go into the Giants Ring of Honor fairly quickly.

Ruien 02-01-2016 08:21 PM

Why is Tiki coming out of retirement an asshole move? Did he plow the Giants or something?

Evil Vito 02-01-2016 08:24 PM

Nah it's not that. Pretty much the second he retired he went into bitter mode. Said Coughlin was a terrible coach and that Eli would never be capable of winning the big one. Then the Giants won the Super Bowl the next year without him.

More importantly though, he cheated on his wife (who was 8 months pregnant with twins) with a young NBC intern. He got fired and I'm pretty sure he only came out of retirement because she took all of his money in divorce and child support proceedings.

Browns confirmed Johnny Manziel is getting the dropped the moment they are allowed by league offseason rules. Also the actual report of his recent alleged assault charges is really bad.

Quote:

DALLAS - The ex-girlfriend of NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel told police that the Heisman Trophy winner told her "shut up or I'll kill us both" after forcing her into a car, hitting her, and dragging her by the hair.

On Thursday, News 8 learned harrowing details of last week's alleged assault of Colleen Crowley by Manziel, who is currently on the Cleveland Browns roster, but is not expected to return next season.

After News 8 broke this story Thursday afternoon, Manziel denied wrongdoing in a published report.
Quote:

Sources say while in his hotel room, the two of them argued over another girl. Crowley told police she tried to leave the room, but that Manziel wouldn't let her.

Crowley told police Manziel "restrained" in some manner and "led" her down a back stairway to the valet area.

"I was crying and begged the valet, 'Please don't let him take me. I'm scared for my life!'" she told police. The valet reportedly told her, "I don't know what to do" and let Manziel leave with her.

Sources say Manziel then drove her about a half-mile to her car, which was parked near the Concrete Cowboy bar off Cedar Springs Road. She claims she jumped out of the car and tried to hide from Manziel, but he found her in some nearby bushes.

"He grabbed me by my hair and threw me back into the car and got back in himself," she reportedly told police. "He hit me with his open hand on my left ear for jumping out of the car. I realized immediately that I could not hear out of that ear, and I still cannot today, two days later."

Crowley then reportedly hit Manziel several times, hoping to get out of the car, but, she told police, Manziel "threw me off of him" and she hit her head on the car window. She told police he would not give her her phone.

Sources say Manziel then got on Interstate 30 and began driving to her apartment in Fort Worth. While en route, she claims, she yelled at him, "I hate you!" He allegedly replied that "he was going to drop me off, take my car and go kill himself," sources said.

She says she thought he was on drugs or maybe having a psychotic break. She told police she then began telling him she loved him.

She says at that time Manziel "started laughing" and then reportedly yelled at her to "shut up or I'll kill us both."
She says they finally made it to her Fort Worth apartment where the argument continued.

Crowley claims Manziel became angry, and smashed her phone. He then went outside and started "pacing," she told police. While she was alone, she tried to use her computer to contact her parents through Apple's FaceTime video chat system.

She said Manziel came back into the apartment, checked her computer, and realized she had tried to contact her parents.

"I was in my kitchen, so out of fear for my life, I pulled a knife out of my knife block and advanced toward him," Crowley told police.

"He ran out of the apartment," she said. When she saw him in the parking lot, she said she banged on a neighbor's door and screamed for help. Manziel fled on foot, she told police.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-05-2016 12:42 AM

Yeah but he's like Bill Clinton post-Monica now. Anything good he does will be either called distraction or just making up for being terrible. Manziel will be banned by not being able to get a contract to be a QB anywhere.

Johnny Foolsball is finished.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-05-2016 01:36 AM

There is only one solution. He's suspended indefinitely until a team agrees to sign him to a deal. All of the pressure will be on the team and Johnny and not the Commish. No team will want to do that so he'll be finished.

If he comes back to the NFL he has to be known as John. Johnny is dead.

According to a recent Washington Post reports, a spokesman from Peyton Manning's side allegedly admitted that roids were shipped to Peyton's house but still claims they were just for his wife.

The bigger piece of the report is allegations about Manning's private investigators intimidating the accuser's parents prior to the Al Jazzera report going public. Also claims that Mannings's investigators falsely claimed they were police as the reason for their visit.

The accuser himself wasn't at the scene but denied it happened. Reports have teased a big reason he recanted his claims was due to fears of lawsuits from players and Al Jazzera failed to protect him as a source.

Quote:

The parents of a former Indianapolis anti-aging clinic employee who made hidden-camera accusations about Peyton Manning’s alleged HGH use called 9-1-1 after goons turned up on their doorstep seeking information about their pharmacist son, Charlie Sly.

That’s just one of the revelations in a Washington Post report today in which, for the first time, a Manning spokesperson admits that part of Sly’s story was true: that the Guyer Clinic in Indianapolis did indeed ship drugs to Manning’s house as alleged by Al-Jazeera America’s documentary and later by the documentary’s producer. Manning had previously called those claims “completely fabricated.” The Manning camp refused to discuss the issue further with the Post, citing Ashley Manning’s medical privacy.

But back to that 9-1-1 call. The Washington Post reports the investigation, which was funded by Peyton Manning, featured two private dicks knocking on Randall and Judith Sly’s door—with one of them, according to the call, falsely claiming to be a cop.

ESPN had some insight on this year's Hall voting and in terms of times for debates/decisions, Eddie DeBartolo needed the longest at 50 minutes and Brett Farve needed the shortest at 19 seconds for both to get final ballot approval.

Took over 43 minutes of debating for the voters to decide against Terrell Owens for this year's class. His bad behavior reputation played a big role in not getting picked for the final ballot.

Also confirms the unwritten rule of no more than 1 guy per position per class.

Nice read. I'm not surprised to hear that they group the modern era guys by position. By comparing them all side by side it's easier to whittle down the field.

Yeup their defense the whole season was scary good. Kept them in games long enough to let Peyton and Brock have those comebacks, the top seed in the AFC, and now the SB championship.

Patriots/Broncos Thursday night kickoff game feels like close to a lock. Only other teams I could see being considered are the Panthers for a SB rematch or Chiefs if they want a divisional game.

Jesus Christ...manning wont retire so we'll get manning vs brady One Last Time* week 1

Ugh

Please send all defense credit to Mr. John Elway for defensive personnel acquisitions, and Mr. Wade Phillips for creating a monster of epic defensive proportions.

Now to listen to people shit on Peyton Manning because he didn't have enough to do with winning this Super Bowl.

"He was the greatest regular season QB ever but he couldn't win the big one."

"Yeah, he won the big one multiple times but it was never because of him."

Fuck football fans.

Feel like you directed that at me. Numbers/stats dont lie. The Broncos could have won this game today with (insert the worst QB you can think of) at QB. Hell they would havewon all 3 playoff games that way.

Just like how the Colts won SB 41.

Man, I'm so happy for Peyton. Yes he didn't have a very good game and the defense carried them to this Super Bowl, but I'm so glad he got another ring before he left. If the Colts or Broncos were playing when the Giants weren't on, I'd always pay extra attention to those games just because of Peyton. Watching him elaborately orchestrate an offense and basically be his own offensive coordinator was fascinating. It was an honor to watch him all those years.

Except Peyton Manning is the greatest regular season QB ever.

... And you're a Joe Flacco fan and will act like he did big things in their SB season and actually helped them win a Super Bowl.

So fuck you. You're a retard.
