Thought either him or Spagnola would get the job.
|
Pretty much what everyone's been saying, Giants were gonna keep it in the family and hire someone within.
|
Eagles were about to offer Ben Mcadoo a job to.
Good job, Eagles. Good to know there is a plan in place. |
Ed Reed coaching the bills DBs..ugh
|
<font color=goldenrod>Well...McAdoo will have the Giants job for the remaining 4 years of Eli's deal at minimum. Just don't see a scenario where they make him learn a new offense again.
I guess the move feels somewhat underwhelming because it feels more like a move for the sake of making a move. How different could he possibly be from Coughlin, the guy who mentored him through his only 2 years as offensive coordinator? And we all know Reese is the one who should have been fired. Still it's not like it was a particularly strong candidate pool.</font> |
49ers expected to decide between Mike Shanahan and Chip Kelly as their new head coach by tomorrow.
<s>Eagles leaning on Tom Coughlin as their next coach. Could be a very small deal in terms of years since Coughlin wants to retire within the next 2-3 years.</s> Nevermind, Coughlin just pulled out of the Eagles talk according to ESPN. |
Atta boy Coughlin
|
49ers didn't bother wasting any more time and hired Chip Kelly as their new coach.
|
Colin Kapernick is probably happy.
|
I dont really know if my expectations are ridiculously high but I at least know that next season is going to be fucking bananas. More exciting than hiring some schmoe. at least he's just going to be coaching and won't have much to do with extensive personnel decisions.
|
Eagles expected to hire Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson as their next coach once the Chiefs season ends.
Bucs expected to hire their offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter as their new coach. Titans are the last team left to hire a new coach while the Lions are still undecided on firing or keeping Jim Cadwell. |
lol49ers.
|
49ers so win. Love Chip as a coach. Just donot let him have any say in the roster.
|
He's worse than what they have as GM? I agree but I think they shouldn't be done cleaning house yet.
|
Lions are gonna keep Jim Caldwell around.
|
Some ESPN NFL related stuff:
Quote:
According to reports, Eagles had hired ESPN's Ron Jaworski and Bill Polian as consultants to help out with the head coaching search. Jaworski was in favor of Doug Pederson getting the job which helped sway the team's decision on the hiring. |
LA pushing to host Super Bowl 55 now that the Rams are back in the city according to reports. Likely going to get it based on Roger Goodell's habit when it comes to new stadiums making requests.
Biggest obstacle is time since a stadium needs to be done and have a team playing there by 2018 in order to be eligible for 2019 SB hosting. |
Broncos extend Derek Wolfe another 4 years.
Good move. All we need to do now is keep Von. |
Titans have officially taken the interm tag off Mike Mularkey and name him the head coach.
|
<font color=goldenrod>lol. That's about the most uninspiring hire ever.</font>

Pats are the One in 11 and One.

How does the Ref mess up the Coin Flip hahaha
|
Larry Fitzgerald is not from this world in the playoffs. Unreal game.

Chargers recently filed trademarks to own the "LA Chargers" and "Los Angeles Chargers" names. Other people tried to grab those names but likely are getting voided soon. Once the move is official, they have until early next year to decide on sharing a stadium with the Rams or be sole owner of the other stadium. Raiders would get whatever option wasn't picked if they move.
NFL also rumored to have been active in pushing the Chargers to ditch San Diego in favor of LA. |
Bitches
|
Josh Gordon applied for reinstatement today.
|
According to ESPN earlier, Seahawks supposedly helping the Cardinals a bit in preparations for the NFC title game. Mostly about the horrid conditions of the Panthers field and suggestions on what shoes to wear for better field gripping.

Collusion!

Looks like the NFL are getting a bit more serious than before with the roids allegations report from Al Jazeera.
Unlike the MLB, the NFL originally didn't want to work together with the USADA (US Anti-doping Agency). Either something changed recently or the NFL didn't like ESPN implying they refused help. Now they are working with the USADA to investigate the roids claims and Peyton Manning as the top target for both agencies. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/usada-h...3051--nfl.html |
Chargers and Rams agree to a preliminary deal to share a stadium in LA. Chargers offering San Diego a final chance to keep the team there but has to be done within a year due to the NFL's demands for the move.
Raiders looking at a possible deal to move to Las Vegas or possibly San Diego if the Chargers do end up moving. Either option wouldn't happen till after next season at the earliest. |
Read about the Las Vegas proposal.
That has to be the worse place to put the stadium. Gotta find a plot of land on the outskirts of town. IF they end up going there. Putting up that potential stadium across from McCarron and stone's throw away from the Strip is gonna be a traffic disaster. |
I would hate to see the Raiders in San Diego. San Antonio seems like the best fit to me but dont know if Jerry Jones woukd like that.
|
Why haven't they tried Oklahoma? Big college football fans there. Could be an easy market.
|
Might be too low of a market especially for tv which is what the NFL cares a lot about. Could also end up with another Dolphins or Jags situation where the huge college football fan base barely transitions over for a pro team support after a while.
According to this list, San Diego is ranked #28 in the nation while Oklahoma is ranked #45 in terms of tv markets. http://www.stationindex.com/tv/tv-markets |
Johnny Manziel involved in another off-field incident and only a couple of days after it was being reported Cleveland's owner was willing to give him one more chance to stay on the team.
This time involving allegations of assaulting his ex-girlfriend leading to the police using a helicopter to search for him and the ex-girlfriend later dropping charges. NFL is also investigating the incident for possible punishments against him. Quote:

Hue Jackson is gonna regret taking that job if they keep that head case around.
Just get rid of him already. |
Please dont send him to Dallas though.

Calvin Johnson told Jim Caldwell that 2015 was his last season, is retiring?
|
Breaking news at ESPN. So I guess it's true.
Pretty damn surprised if you ask me. I'd figure another season or two and Detroit could be in the playoffs conversation. However, I do believe that someone will make him an offer he can't refuse and he'll hook on with another team down the road. |
Sorry RDD.
|
Megatron Powering Down. Lions ruin another great talent.
|
I got good oddz he comes back within 3 years for another team.
|
<font color=goldenrod>My initial reaction was that Megatron won't make the HOF because he didn't play long enough. But then again most people have Hines Ward going to the HOF and Megatron only has 2 less TD and around 400 fewer years in 5 less seasons.
I think he's going in eventually. It just might take a while for the logjam to clear up.</font> |
Calvin Johnson has always seemed like a really smart person and after all that he's done and been through, it's probably a really smart decision for him to retire.

<font color=goldenrod>Yeah, he does. Any player who retires with time left on their contract officially goes on a reserve list and the team retains rights to the player. A couple of years after Barry retired his agents asked the Lions to trade or release him, which suggested that he wanted to come out of retirement but play for a different team. The Lions refused, so he stayed retired.
Tiki Barber sat out 4 seasons after retiring and when he filed reinstatement papers the Giants had to release him.</font> |
What an asshole.
Tiki, not Johnson. |
Lol I forgot Tiki came out of retirement.
|
<font color=goldenrod>I'll never forget getting a Tiki home jersey to replace my tattered Shockey jersey, and then the very next week he announced his impending retirement. I figured it was no biggie, I could still wear it since he was their best RB ever. Then he became a huge asshole and I replaced it with a Justin Tuck jersey after SB42 that I've been rocking ever since.
Speaking of which...he retired today. Great career. Probably will go into the Giants Ring of Honor fairly quickly.</font> |
Why is Tiki coming out of retirement an asshole move? Did he plow the Giants or something?
|
<font color=goldenrod>Nah it's not that. Pretty much the second he retired he went into bitter mode. Said Coughlin was a terrible coach and that Eli would never be capable of winning the big one. Then the Giants won the Super Bowl the next year without him.
More importantly though, he cheated on his wife (who was 8 months pregnant with twins) with a young NBC intern. He got fired and I'm pretty sure he only came out of retirement because she took all of his money in divorce and child support proceedings.</font> |
Yeah, he shit on the coach who saved his career by teaching up to stop fumbling.

NFL adding a Rooney rule for the women's
|
Not sure why that hasn't already been a thing.

Browns confirmed Johnny Manziel is getting the dropped the moment they are allowed by league offseason rules. Also the actual report of his recent alleged assault charges is really bad.

If Goodell wants to score some points, don't let him back in the league when the Browns dump him.
|
Yeah but he's like Bill Clinton post-Monica now. Anything good he does will be either called distraction or just making up for being terrible. Manziel will be banned by not being able to get a contract to be a QB anywhere.
Johnny Foolsball is finished. |
There is only one solution. He's suspended indefinitely until a team agrees to sign him to a deal. All of the pressure will be on the team and Johnny and not the Commish. No team will want to do that so he'll be finished.
If he comes back to the NFL he has to be known as John. Johnny is dead. |
the all pro domestic violence team needs a QB
|
Stop making fun of Johnny Manziel
|
Fuck Johnny Rehab
|
According to a recent Washington Post reports, a spokesman from Peyton Manning's side allegedly admitted that roids were shipped to Peyton's house but still claims they were just for his wife.
The bigger piece of the report is allegations about Manning's private investigators intimidating the accuser's parents prior to the Al Jazzera report going public. Also claims that Mannings's investigators falsely claimed they were police as the reason for their visit. The accuser himself wasn't at the scene but denied it happened. Reports have teased a big reason he recanted his claims was due to fears of lawsuits from players and Al Jazzera failed to protect him as a source. Quote:

Texans & Raiders will be playing a MNF game south of the border in Mexico City next season.
First time NFL played a game there since 2005 when Cardinals & 49ers played. |
At least they will have two ,500 teams. Unlike London getting super shitty games their first two years before anything decent.
|
I'm sure Peyton is pumping the HGH into him right now.

The Johnny Rehab saga in the last 24 hours:
His agent dumps him as a client. His family wanted him to go to rehab but he said "No No Nooooooooo" Ex-girlfriend has filed criminal charges against him and police are now investigating. |
Its amazing how you can have everything one day and the next nothing. His family should have stepped in awhile ago when this started developing in his youth.

Lol, school district in Colorado ban Peyton Mannig jerseys because of the 18th Street gang. |
<font color=goldenrod>Final predictions for the HOF before they get announced tonight: Brett Favre, Marvin Harrison, Orlando Pace, Kevin Greene, Tony Dungy, Eddie DeBartolo Jr, Ken Stabler, Dick Stanfel.</font>

ESPN had some insight on this year's Hall voting and in terms of times for debates/decisions, Eddie DeBartolo needed the longest at 50 minutes and Brett Farve needed the shortest at 19 seconds for both to get final ballot approval.
Took over 43 minutes of debating for the voters to decide against Terrell Owens for this year's class. His bad behavior reputation played a big role in not getting picked for the final ballot. Also confirms the unwritten rule of no more than 1 guy per position per class. http://espn.go.com/blog/cleveland//p...me-voting-room |
Starvin' Marvin deserved to be a first ballot HOF but congrats to him getting it done.
|
Cam Newton took the MVP award with 48 out of 50 votes (1 for Brady, 1 for Palmer) while Ron Rivera took the Coach of the Year award with 36.5 votes (Andy Reid was #2 with 6 votes).

Quote:
There really isn't a statistical measure out there that would support Harrison going in over Owens, but Harrison was waiting longer. That's just how it is.</font> |
<font color=goldenrod>Speaking of Harrison...his HOF speech is going to be awkward as all fuck, that is if he even goes. He's always been super awkward dealing with the press.
Also there's the whole "might be a slum lord who very likely killed somebody" thing.</font> |
How lazy could you bastards get? Nobody makes a super bowl 50 thread. Got damn lazy bums

ummm there are 4 different superbowl threads in casual

Weirdest shit ever on the Pre-game show. Alternate history of the Buffalo Bills if they didn't shit the bed four years in a row.

<font color=goldenrod>Congrats to ClockShot and the Broncos. Crazy good defense.</font>

<font color=goldenrod>Broncos 2016 home opponents: Chargers, Chiefs, Colts, Falcons, Panthers, Patriots, Raiders, Texans
Patriots/Broncos Thursday night kickoff game feels like close to a lock. Only other teams I could see being considered are the Panthers for a SB rematch or Chiefs if they want a divisional game.</font> |
Congrats to the Broncos. Strange season with them having a chance to not make the playoffs in the final week to make it all the way.
Von Miller is def the MVP. No voting matters. |
WE DID IT!

Gonna be a fucking good day at work tomorrow.

Please send all defense credit to Mr. John Elway for defensive personnel acquisitions, and Mr. Wade Phillips for creating a monster of epic defensive proportions.

<font color=goldenrod>One year after the dumbest play call in NFL history, Marshawn Lynch announces his retirement in an interesting way during the Super Bowl:</font>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="und" dir="ltr">✌ <a href="https://t.co/wesip4IhOR">pic.twitter.com/wesip4IhOR</a></p>— Shawn Lynch (@MoneyLynch) <a href="https://twitter.com/MoneyLynch/status/696525541826924546">February 8, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
Now to listen to people shit on Peyton Manning because he didn't have enough to do with winning this Super Bowl.
"He was the greatest regular season QB ever but he couldn't win the big one." "Yeah, he won the big one multiple times but it was never because of him." Fuck football fans. |
Quote:
Just like how the Colts won SB 41. |
<font color=goldenrod>Man, I'm so happy for Peyton. Yes he didn't have a very good game and the defense carried them to this Super Bowl, but I'm so glad he got another ring before he left. If the Colts or Broncos were playing when the Giants weren't on, I'd always pay extra attention to those games just because of Peyton. Watching him elaborately orchestrate an offense and basically be his own offensive coordinator was fascinating. It was an honor to watch him all those years.</font>
