lol @ Padilla somehow having a no hitter through 5 1/3

ClockShot 08-05-2010 07:18 AM

Nolan Ryan's group wins the Texas Rangers auction.

ClockShot 08-05-2010 07:23 AM

Also, Pirates claimed our buddy Chan Ho Park off waivers. :shifty:

But I hear that the Red Sox put Papelblown on waivers and an AL team went and claimed him. But I'll bet they'll just pull him back.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-05-2010 07:49 AM

Rumor has it the Reds will soon be calling Aroldis Chapman up to the majors as bullpen help.

Chapman has been working with the coaches at Louisville on tightening up his throwing motion to get better weight distribution. The result? His last game he was clocked twice at 103 MPH. YOU HEAR THAT, ALBERT. 103

Innovator 08-05-2010 09:22 AM

I hope the Pirates have plenty of Pepto ready for CHP.

Skippord 08-05-2010 12:20 PM

like the Pirates even care at this point

Gertner 08-05-2010 04:08 PM

Schlomey 08-05-2010 06:04 PM

I had a dream about Nolan Ryan last night. I fell asleep watching Sports Center where the featured story was him buying the Texas Rangers..

So the dream...

He was driving his car in front of me and blew a tire. I pulled over and changed his tire for him and told him that I loved watching him play the game. He invited me back to his house and we played pool in his basement. End dream.

McLegend 08-05-2010 07:03 PM

That is the best catch I have ever seen.

Also Roy Oswalt sounds a little like Billy Bob Thorton from Slingblade.

You aren't supposed to mention that when it's happening. :shifty:

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-05-2010 08:08 PM

Kevin Youkilis's season might be finished, fml.

:foc:

McLegend 08-05-2010 11:03 PM

Phillies should have lost that game, but because of a bad call they win.

BOOM

Skippord 08-06-2010 12:12 AM

Jesus, the Rockies should just concede every road game that Ubaldo Jimenez doesn't pitch

Aguakate 08-06-2010 01:15 AM

HORRIBLE call in that Phillies/Marlins game. And the umpire has the audacity after the game to reaffirm that it WAS a foul ball. He cost the Marlins the game and is so hard-headed that he won't accept he made a mistake.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-06-2010 12:25 PM

Reds are back at Wrigley this weekend. Last time they were there, they outscored the Cubbies 30-8. Let's get some of that action again.

DaveWadding 08-06-2010 05:10 PM

damned Cubs offense.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-06-2010 05:16 PM

damned Reds defense

DaveWadding 08-06-2010 05:21 PM

what's your opinion on Heisey vs. Stubbs? do you think Heisey could be the CF of the future instead of Stubbs?

Evil Vito 08-06-2010 05:23 PM

The Marlins have by far the whiniest announcers in baseball. I understand being upset about a call, but god DAMN that's annoying (watch the vid, obv):

http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/news/...=.jsp&c_id=fla

DaveWadding 08-06-2010 05:27 PM

and his name is DAN UGGLA!!!!

The Marlins and Rangers have the most godawful announcers. I swear.

nah Heisey's future is in left, which is fine

but right now Heisey should be starting over Stubbs, Bruce, and Gomes everyday

DaveWadding 08-06-2010 05:30 PM

Votto, Phillips, Bruce, Stubbs, Heisey...

makes my stomach turn. Ugh.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-06-2010 05:32 PM

WELLLLLLLLLLL the lineup could be Phillips, Votto, Hamilton, Dunn

so let's all count our blessings

Miotch 08-06-2010 05:40 PM

I fucking LOVE that no one is talking SAWX/YANX in here right now.

Carry on with what you were discussing.

Aguakate 08-06-2010 06:02 PM

I look at the National League, and it looks so weak in comparison to the American League...

...I'll go as far as to say that whoever wins the NL Pennant will lose to whoever wins the AL.

You look at the Yankees and Rays, for example, and then look at the Braves or Reds or Padres, and it's not even close.

Triple Naitch 08-06-2010 06:23 PM

Not to mention that the Red Sox are in third place in their division and have a better record than all but 3 teams in the NL.

ClockShot 08-06-2010 07:33 PM

And Boston is pretty banged up in the injury dept.

Boomer 08-06-2010 09:13 PM

Injuries are destroying the Braves right now. That, and Glaus hasn't shown anything at all since after the All-Star Break. Its sad, because he still leads the team by far in RBIs. The Braves pitching continues to keep them in games.

Mike Minor will be pitching for the Braves on Monday. Don't know what Kawikami did to warrant being sent down to the minors for three weeks. Losing Medlen is huge. He would have been amazing in long-relief for the playoffs. That is, if the Braves even make it there.

Thank the gods for All-Star Omar Infante.

Evil Vito 08-06-2010 09:46 PM

Oh look, the Mets fell apart again.

Ugh. Fuck this shit. I've got tickets for Wednesday :( I really wish I didn't love baseball so much, I'd love to stop giving the fucking Wilpons money.

Emperor Smeat 08-06-2010 10:32 PM

:D Buccholz.

McLegend 08-06-2010 10:39 PM

Hey guys the Phillies are pretty good again, and the best players on the team aren't even playing.

The Braves are giving you the lead, you might as well take it. They just lost to the Giants, allowing them to score two runs in the 9th and 11th without getting a hit.

I gave up on the D'Backs. No desire to even go again this year, unless a really amazing pitcher is scheduled.

I'll gladly take it.

Also it's nice to see that the Braves erected a statue of Chipper Jones at 3rd base. Nice to see that kind of dedication from an organzation.

Boomer 08-07-2010 01:35 AM

The Phillies start winning and suddenly you are all jokes, huh?

Droford 08-07-2010 03:46 AM

Someone break up the Orioles!

This just makes me wish they had gotten Showalter hired sooner instead of dicking around with Samuel for as long as they did.

Evil Vito 08-07-2010 11:10 AM

Fernando Martinez and Ruben Tejada called up to the bigs

Wonder who's going down then. My hope says Francouer and Castillo...though Francoeur and Cora would do just fine. At least Cora's vesting option for 2011 won't be an issue.

Not really sure why they'd bother calling Tejada back up if they are just going to stick him on the bench, though. Omar hasn't got the balls to cut bait with guys like Castillo and Perez (or at least, the Wilpons won't let him). But it's better than nothing.

I always try and bring the jokes.

YOUR Hero 08-07-2010 01:56 PM

If (middle word of LifE) the Jays hadn't lost 12 of 14 at one point.... :nono:
