each other.

interleague right thurrr

The Miz 08-12-2006 03:58 PM

If you're going to do that, what's the point of having two different leagues?

BCWWF 08-12-2006 04:13 PM

Lol, it always gets me when people complain about the AL West/NL Central. Isn't is obvious why they do it? Unless they are planning to expand interleague, which would be a giant mistake in my opinion.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-12-2006 04:18 PM

Well what is the point of having two different leagues anyway? Teams that never play each other unless they make it to the World Series is pretty weird when you think about. (well before interleague but still) I never really understood why baseball was like that. I am sure it is because thats how it was back in 1901 when MLB started but they probably rode a horse and buggy to the games back then too, things change.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-12-2006 04:19 PM

I only legit complaint I see about the divisions is that the Rangers are in the AL West, kinda unfair since the rest of the AL West teams are in a different timezone.

The Miz 08-12-2006 04:22 PM

Vladimir Guerrero has got to be the worst baserunner I've ever seen. Seriously, this isn't just Angel hate. Got thrown out at third by 10 miles by Abreu earlier this game and just got picked off by Posada (!) on second base, LOL. He has ridiculous hitting talent but I don't remember seeing an Angel game this year where they haven't been hurt by Vlad's poor/lazy baserunning and defense

BCWWF 08-12-2006 04:38 PM

I think that having two completely seperate leagues is what makes baseball awesome. Like the NBA and NHL, the two conferences are basically useless. If you are playing every team in the league, why not seed it like the NCAA Tournament instead of splitting it into two arbitrary conferences. That way, maybe you could get a decent NBA Championship instead of Western Conference Finals.

If you think about it, if MLB increased interleague play, you would probably only have like four series' per year with your division rivals. Right now, I believe you have a home and home series with the other divisions, 18 interleague games, and plenty of room to make the divisions worthwhile. I personally don't care if the Twins never get to play the Mets, the Braves, the Dodgers, the Cardinals, any of those teams. Baseball is the only league in which the two leagues are actually different, and that is what makes the World Series cool.

Of course you might guess that my favorite league system(s) are the European soccer leagues. Every country has a league and an important league championship, but then there are also international tournaments, the Champions League and the UEFA Cup, for all of the best teams in each league. I think having multiple titles you can win makes the season more exciting while also keeping a major title.

ct2k 08-12-2006 05:00 PM

Anyone know what happened to Jaret Wright?

The Miz 08-12-2006 06:01 PM

Manny with a walk-off?!?!? I thought only Ortiz was allowed to hit those! SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME

ct2k 08-12-2006 06:05 PM

Manny > Ortiz

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-12-2006 07:20 PM

Nah Ortiz is a career .306 hitter, after the 7th inning when the Red Sox are down by 3 runs and their is 2 outs Ortiz is a career .306 hitter

The Miz 08-12-2006 07:31 PM

Yeah but Manny hits 1.000 in extra innings of home games vs. Baltimore with no outs men on 1st and 2nd against Bruce Chen. Ortiz hits .000 in those situations

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-12-2006 07:47 PM

Manny is really good too, I agree

YOUR Hero 08-12-2006 07:59 PM

They walked Ortiz. His OBP in the situation you mentioned is 1.000

YOUR Hero 08-12-2006 07:59 PM

I'd take that on a weekend.

BCWWF 08-12-2006 08:06 PM

Twins need to salvage the week with a win tonight. Here we go Boof, pull something out.

Nice try Hero, but there was only a runner on first when Ortiz walked. He sucks. Get over it.

RoXer 08-12-2006 08:19 PM

Also, I had the idea to put the Expos in the AL West in Las Vegas and to put Philly and Pittsburgh in the same division. They're in the same state, why can't they be in the same division? That way, 5 teams in each division.

But then someone pointed out the odd number teams in each league. :o

BCWWF 08-12-2006 08:36 PM

I had my own idea, but with keeping the 16-14. I wanted to swap Milwaukee and Kansas City. I had a few reasons for this.

Milwaukee is five hours from the Twin Cities and about two hours from Chicago. The Cubs already have the rivalry going with St. Louis, so Milwaukee is just this team in a prime location but without a good rival. Both the White Sox and Twins fans are close enough that it makes Milwaukee a legitimate place to go for a road game. I know fans do follow the Twins there during interleague, but going to Chicago or KC is just too far.

The reasoning for Kansas City, they remind me of a National League team, and their park seems like a National League park. Moreso, the I-70 rivalry between St. Louis and Kansas City is a lot more legit than any of the other teams Kansas City plays right now.

lol yeah, cuz they're bad

YOUR Hero 08-12-2006 09:51 PM

I think they should make it so pitchers have to hit in the AL as well. I also think there should still be a DH in not only the AL, but in the NL.

BCWWF 08-12-2006 09:55 PM

I like having major rule changes to differentiate the leagues. Why not make the foul pole a home run in one league and a foul ball in the other.

YOUR Hero 08-12-2006 10:03 PM

Or in the AL the outfiled is only 225 feet MAX away, whereas in the NL it's no less than 500.

YOUR Hero 08-12-2006 10:35 PM

Twins hit into their 6th double play of the game

YOUR Hero 08-12-2006 10:36 PM

Game over. in 3 games, the Twins score a grand total of 1 run VS the Jays. My prediction continues to hold true.

The Miz 08-12-2006 10:49 PM

You know whats funny, if you use Gertner logic, the best pitcher in the American League BY FAR is...

Joe Blanton!!

Tied for 2nd in the league with wins, while pitching for the worst offense in baseball. ERA is closer to 5 than 4, but that's irrelevant

He was safe on the Posada play. BUTTTTTTT, he's a horrible runner period. I mean we're talking about a guy that had stole 30+ bases, but he's just so awkward.

BCWWF 08-13-2006 03:17 AM

The Twins offense just looked pitiful against the Jays. Bonser had a really decent start too, two earned runs in six innings. C'MON!

Joey Slugs 08-13-2006 03:39 AM

White Sox win again.

SammyG 08-13-2006 03:51 AM

Dodgers win again.

So, pitchers should have to hit, but still a DH? Like...you could have a real good defensive player but if he sucked at the plate have an Ortiz/Hafner/Thome hit for him? Hmm I dunno

YOUR Hero 08-13-2006 11:01 AM

No, every defensive player still bats, including the pitcher. There just happens to be a DH as well.

10 man lineup? And how in the holy hell will there be a DH if the pitcher is batting?

OssMan 08-13-2006 01:41 PM

I believe the DH is currently allowed to hit for any player on the field, but I don't think it's ever happened.

RoXer 08-13-2006 01:45 PM

He was joking guys.

No. Pitcher only

ct2k 08-13-2006 02:19 PM

Miz you better have a good explanation for why Chone Figgins just homered off Wang:|

ct2k 08-13-2006 02:19 PM

Fuck he's getting killed, 3 runs in, bases loaded

The Miz 08-13-2006 02:25 PM

Don't worry, Vlad will get picked off third or started running the opposite way around the bases

K nevermind Curtis Pride GIDP'ed LOL why is this guy in their lineup?

ct2k 08-13-2006 02:27 PM

Maybe he's from the Bronx
