Because of his avatar, I keep thinking DAMN iNATOR is Kayfabe Man and mark out whenever I see one of his posts, then get disappointed when it's DAMN iNATOR.

I was gonna do this.

I was gonna make a "Lock Jaw Watches TNA For a Month" thread. In which I would watch and give my thoughts throughout the show.

Would not necessarily watch it on the Thursday, though.

Xero 02-13-2012 04:53 PM

"The Anonymous RAW GM Considers TNA For Employment" would be a better thread title.

Here's the injury. Zema Ion definitely over-rotated.

Kind of concerns me that Ion didn't even check on him and the ref just got back into the ring to count out instead of calling directly for support.

Rammsteinmad 02-13-2012 05:53 PM

Was watching TNA's Against All Odds. To be honest it wasn't a bad PPV, and the biggest criticism I have is the commentating. Tenay and Borash are awful. So incredibly boring. There is just no enthusiasm in their voices, as all these huge spots are taking place they just sit there and call the action in dull, boring, monotonic voices.

You can all criticise Michael Cole for 'going off topic' and 'burying the talents', but at least he does it with enthusiasm in his voice.

I was thinking the same thing. I guess nobody can ever truly prepare for these things though, so when they do happen your reaction could be completely the opposite of what you'd like to think you would do.

Jordan 02-13-2012 05:55 PM

Well that's just the risk you take doing moves like that. Though there was a time when you had to be a total pro to even be able to do moves like that, Jericho, HBK, Ultimo Dragon as some examples. I don't think you can blame Ion, just really unfortunate.

Jordan 02-13-2012 05:56 PM

I think Jesse told the ref he was okay, or the ref thought he was just selling. I'd say Jesse was knocked senseless and was trying to fight out of it.

No, Cole's voice is the most annoying thing.

Why was Borash was commentating? I haven't watched a TNA PPV in ages, but was Taz there as well? Tenay isn't great, but I would take him over cole in a heartbeat. That's any version of Cole, not just "heel" Cole.

I did prefer him on colour in WCW though. He was great as the professor.

Taz's brother-in-law died, so he was at home with his family. JB was a last-minute replacement.

#BROKEN Hasney 02-13-2012 06:07 PM

Ah, fair play then. I thought TNA made another batshit insane decision for a second there.

Yes!

I was just about to post pretty much the exact same thing. I watched that clip and it just reminded me of how bad the TNA commentating is.

I'd say that might be my biggest gripe with TNA. I've never liked Mike Tenay, even during his WCW days, and I've never liked Jeremy Borash, period. Both of them have voices that just irritate the shit out of me. :-\

Yeah, but they should have protocol. If that happened in WWE the match would have stopped dead and with good reason.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but still, the refs at least should be trained for these situations.

Sorrenson was definitely out of position. Meltzer said it best on radio today, Ion did the right thing by walking out and playing character. That was the professional way to handle it.

Sorrenson flinched and paid for it, it sucks. He'll recover. Xema probably feels like shit, I'm sure, but he landed how he was supposed to to be caught on the shoulder.

Emperor Smeat 02-13-2012 06:20 PM

I'd blame the ref more than Ion regarding the after the move situation.

Ion was playing to the crowd the whole time so either he had a feeling something went wrong (ala Owen Hart when he injured Austin) while the ref half-assed the counting and didn't even bother to finish the count out. Ref probably wasn't sure what to do until very late and just ended the match.

Rammsteinmad 02-13-2012 06:21 PM

Yeah in that clip, Jesse whoever dives over the top rope and crash-and-burns on the outside and Tenay is just like '...bad landing by Jesse Whoever in this #1 contenders match'... :|

Volare 02-13-2012 06:35 PM
