Evil Vito 04-21-2016 03:45 PM

If I could change one thing about NFL scheduling it would be ending Thursday Night Football. No question about it. The games are often terrible.

I'd keep the week 1 Thursday game because I like the tradition of having the Super Bowl champion opening the next season on their own. And of course I'd keep the Thanksgiving games (including the Thanksgiving Night games). But the rest of it can kick rocks.

But then the Eagles or another team would have traded with the Titans probably.

If the Rams didn't give a shit who they wanted between Goff or Wentz, trading to #2 makes sense. But it's clear they have a preference.

Evil Vito 04-22-2016 09:03 AM

Also, the Chargers are now fielding calls for the #3 overall pick. This is great.

Same, can we put it off and make it a bigger deal in Week 7 or 8 instead of blowing through the match up.

Evil Vito 04-22-2016 09:23 AM

2011 was boss. Didn't play Dallas until Week 13 (JPP's blocked FG) and then the rematch a few weeks later to decide the division.

I miss 2011. Can it come back?

Welp, Deflategate is back.

Brady's 4 game suspension has been reinstated by appeals court.

How is deflategate still a thing? Seriously. What in the fuck.

Evil Vito 04-25-2016 12:23 PM

It's stupid and so is anybody who thinks Brady actually cheated.

But at this point I can't help but just laugh at Brady/the situation in general.

Pats will probably win the Super Bowl anyway.

Because this completly changes the entire NFL season. There is no team now in the AFC to be the clear favorites to win the regular season. Pats may even mods the playoffs depending on how bad they are without Brady and how good the Jets or Bills can become.

Evil Vito 04-25-2016 02:38 PM

lol the Patriots are not going to miss the fucking playoffs. come on.

Evil Vito 04-25-2016 02:39 PM

Even if they get off to a slow start they're going to win their division for the millionth year in a row and probably get a bye again. They've gotten off with slow starts WITH Brady and it hasn't mattered.

Ruien 04-25-2016 02:55 PM

Ya but the Jets and Bills have the ability to win 10 games this season.

Emperor Smeat 04-25-2016 03:32 PM

Seems like the stuff with the cellphone ended up being the deciding factor even though one of the judges who ruled against Brady felt the NFL punishment was a bit unfair on paper.

Then again same judge said the whole case was just about if Goodell was allowed to punish Brady and couldn't rule against it without causing legal issues with the CBA itself.

Emperor Smeat 04-25-2016 03:38 PM

According to ESPN, Sam Bradford wants out of Philly after the team traded up to get the #2 pick in the draft for a new QB. Supposedly felt insulted the team didn't inform him beforehand of what they were doing with the draft picks and their plans for the draft which he thinks is them trying to replace him as fast as possible as the starter.

Already told the team he's going to hold out on doing any offseason programs and/or camps until a trade is made.

Trent Richardson dropped 22lbs from 240 to 218 which was lighter than his college days. Might be a huge under the radar move

Ruien 04-25-2016 08:27 PM

Trent's problem is he can't find a hole to save his life. He did play behind some shitty ass lines though with Cleveland and Indy. He may be a decent second back.

Emperor Smeat 04-25-2016 11:42 PM

According to the Denver Post, Broncos tried to make a trade for Sam Bradford once the news of him wanting out of Philly became public. Biggest problem is Eagles are asking for way too much for any potential deals.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Prominent NFL source: Broncos reached out to PHI re: Bradford. Unable to confirm w/ team but NFL source: PHI asking price too high. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/9news?src=hash">#9news</a></p>&mdash; Mike Klis (@MikeKlis) <a href="https://twitter.com/MikeKlis/status/724762345335967745">April 26, 2016</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

49ers also rumored to be interested in Bradford but Chip Kelly is on the Eagles shit list at the moment so no deals would be considered.

ClockShot 04-26-2016 06:23 PM

Broncos should have held off until after the draft, probably could have gotten Bradford at a lower price after the Eagles picked whichever QB is not #1.

Still won't fix the QB situation even if he do get him.

ClockShot 04-26-2016 06:24 PM

In other news, JaMarcus Russell has resurfaced. Trying to mount another comeback in the NFL. He's sent letter to most of the teams, even would take a job in the front office. Hell, he'll work for free at this point.

Ruien 04-26-2016 09:02 PM

Haha hopen someone signs him to the practice squad for 0 dollars. Would be amazing. Isn't he rich due to his insane rookie contract anyhow? Seems like he just wants to play for the love of the game. He should go to the CFL.

Curious to see how losing that weight is gonna help him find giant, gaping holes in the defense and not run directly into his linemen like he prefers to do.

Raiders currently considering Nevada as an option for relocation.

Davis is scheduled to appear at the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee meeting at 11 a.m. ET Thursday in Las Vegas. The meeting will include more about a $1.3 billion stadium project being proposed by casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and real estate agency Majestic Realty.

The Raiders have signed a one-year lease for the 2016 season at the Oakland Alameda Coliseum. The lease includes two one-year options for 2017 and 2018, but financial developments have added incentives to relocate. The Raiders' rent tripled in the agreement and they lost revenue from stadium naming rights, when O.co opted out of its agreement in early April.

Also still considering a move to LA with the Rams if the Chargers opt out although the terms the NFL gave them includes holding out on making a real decision till early 2018 which is too long of a wait for the Raiders. Chargers have till January 2017 to make a decision but can extend it till January 2018 if a city referendum isn't passed later this year.

To help out the Raiders, NFL recently dropped the unwritten rule against teams moving to Las Vegas due to its gambling reputation.

Evil Vito 04-27-2016 04:13 PM

Raiders owner Mark Davis willing to put up $500 mil. to move the team to Las Vegas. $200 mil. of that money will be an NFL loan.

The more I hear about it, the more I think this is gonna happen.

Emperor Smeat 04-28-2016 06:19 PM

Only way the Raiders would even bother consider staying in Oakland is if the city suddenly drops the rent spike and/or someone else takes over as a major sponsor.

Raiders pretty much hoping Chargers make their official announcement as soon as possible so they can grab LA or Vegas before the rent spike happens.

Not really although mostly because Pats don't have a 1st rd pick and wasn't interested in the QB draft hype this year.

That and rather watch the Celtics playoff game happening during the same time.

Simple Fan 04-28-2016 08:42 PM

I like the Elliott pick. Now need to focus on the defense.

#1-norm-fan 04-28-2016 08:51 PM

Eh. Feel like Ramsey was the better option there. Not sure how I feel about taking a RB so high. Even if he does have a shitload of potential.

Droford 04-28-2016 08:56 PM

Ravens probably take Tunsil instead of Stanley if he didn't tweet a pick smoking 10 minutes before the draft

Crimson 04-28-2016 09:20 PM

Well at least the Cowboys games should be exciting. Wanted Ramsey tho

Crimson 04-28-2016 09:22 PM

Droford 04-29-2016 12:06 AM

Paxton Lynch will be better than Goff and Wentz

Evil Vito 04-29-2016 12:22 AM

Reading the takes from all of the Giants' beat guys. It just sounds like they were flat out unprepared for the possibility of Floyd and Conklin both being gone. I mean, I get it. The Tunsil thing completely threw their plans out of whack. Tunsil would have definitely gone to Baltimore had he not screwed up (they've come out and said Stanley was always ahead of Tunsil on their boards, but I'll bet that's bollocks. Every team says that) and the Titans were said to have Stanley on their board ahead of Conklin, so if they had traded up it'd have probably been for Stanley.

Weird set of circumstances but still no excuse to not have a real plan C. Even though I've shat on the pick I of course hope Apple plays well and makes me feel like an idiot but he still just seems like way too much of a developmental pick to take in the top 10.

Here's hoping the Giants can actually get some value out of their mid round picks this year.

ClockShot 04-29-2016 05:21 AM

Broncos get their guy in Paxton Lynch. I feel much better now.

Now he's gotta win the job from Sanchize.

Pats have the next two picks. Wonder if they will have two special presenters or just one announcing both.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-29-2016 09:29 PM

Hmm Pats traded the 2nd pick to Saints. Not sure for what.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-29-2016 09:29 PM

Cyrus Jones, CB Alabama.

Emperor Smeat 04-29-2016 09:34 PM

Probably would have went with a RB instead of a CB if the goal was to trade away the other 2nd Round pick for the Pats.

At least the guy they grabbed was one of their top targets for the draft according to ESPN's Pats reporter on Twitter.

Also  at ESPN for completely ignoring who the Pats drafted on Twitter. Announced the Bucs pick at 59, didn't bother with the Pats pick, then announced the Saints pick at 61.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-29-2016 10:02 PM

Pats probably decided to just have the pick be announced and not have a big deal with Gooddell being on stage.

Emperor Smeat 04-29-2016 10:24 PM

 ESPN did it again with the Pats pick in the 3rd.

Pats picking a guard was a bit odd considering their main needs although they do need some big fixes for the O-line

As long as he ends up somewhere and not as a free agent. Be a shame to see all his talent go to waste.

I've been wondering if maybe everybody's just turned off/slightly wary of him because of the thorough 38-0 drubbing MSU took at the hands of Alabama in the playoff semi.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-30-2016 12:44 PM

Wonder who the Pats would have drafted in the first round if they didn't lose it. Probably would have traded for more 2, 3 and 4s. Which they got alot back for trading the 2 they got from Arizona.

Simple Fan 04-30-2016 01:06 PM

Damn it, Rams just selected Cooper.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-30-2016 01:18 PM

NFL Draft says Pats have gotten all of their needs met except for a RB. They don't have a pick until 6th and 7th rounds now.

Simple Fan 04-30-2016 01:56 PM

Cowboys got Dak Prescott out of Mississippi State. Think he's a great pick to set and learn for a few years. Don't believe he's Romos replacement though as I could see them picking a QB in drafts to come. Don't have any picks until the 6th round where they have 4.

Probably Seattle's OT or one of the DTs picked by the Cards and Panthers taken in the 1st Round.

Evil Vito 04-30-2016 04:41 PM

Giants just wrapped up their draft in the sixth round. Some quick thoughts:

Round 1: Eli Apple, CB, Ohio State: I thought it was a big reach to take him tenth and I stand by that. That being said, the Giants were met with the worst case scenario with teams jumping in front of them to take their top two targets, and apparently they asked too much to move back. You do need three quality CBs in today's NFL, and he'll slot in on the nickel position this year so hopefully his weaknesses can be masked there early on.

Round 2: Sterling Shepard, WR, Oklahoma: Really like this pick. His best fit does seem to be the slot, which is good because you have to view anything they get out of Cruz this year as a bonus. If both guys compete for playing time, it's a good problem to have. Sprinkle in Dwayne Harris who contributed way more in the passing game than I ever would have expected last year and they might have themselves a nice crop of receivers not named OBJ for Eli to throw to.

Round 3: Darian Thompson, S, Boise State: Said it last night but he could very well be their starting FS in Week 1. Landon Collins badly needs to be switched to the strong side, and drafting Thompson might give them the opportunity to do that. And he was getting mid-second round grades on a lot of boards.

Round 4: B.J. Goodson, LB, Clemson: The word on him seems to be that he's sound against the run but poor against the pass. Sounds like every LB Reese has brought in the last few years. But he plays inside and anybody has to be better than Uani 'Unga. He could be another Week 1 starter.

Round 5: Paul Perkins, RB, UCLA: Reading up on him it sounds like he might be a steal. Rashad Jennings looked good late last year but is 31 years old, so I understand bringing in some help. If he gets Andre Williams off the roster then I'm totally happy with this move.

Round 6: Jerrell Adams, TE, South Carolina: This guy is built like a power forward. The only consistency the Giants have had at TE the past few years was Larry Donnell dropping 25 passes a game, so maybe Adams can change that and be a legitimate weapon.

I'm shocked the Giants didn't get a lineman considering that the right side is still a big question mark with a human turnstile like Marshall Newhouse slated to start at RT, but clearly they just weren't all that sold on anybody except for Conklin this year. I think Apple may be the one I have the biggest issues with, actually. Everybody else seems like they could be at least good value. Aside from 2007 Reese has been flat out awful drafting outside of the first round so hopefully the class of 2016 can change that trend.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-30-2016 06:38 PM

No runningback for the Pats in the draft. Do they think Deon Lewis and Blount will be able to bounce back from the injuries? Strange.

ClockShot 04-30-2016 06:59 PM
