The game was pretty damn good from well not a neutral perspective, since I detest Man United with a passion, but the game was pretty even sided, I thought it was in when Silvestre I think headed that corner and Bridge cleared it off the line, Cech had no chance on that one, could have easily led to extra time.

The rule where the away goals only count after extra time is stupid, just like having two legs on only one round, they need to change that shit IMO

I think they've had that away goals thing for a while, back in 97 when City won it we had to get a score draw at Wimbledon in the semi's and managed it in the 90 minutes but had to play out extra time. Good times :'(

It was a decent game, Chelsea's defence was pretty tight though so apart from the goal and the header off the line i think Cech only had to make that save from Ronaldo. Cudicini will be back in for the final though, as long as he's fit.

Should be a decent final going on the game at Anfield between the sides, when Liverpool were very unlucky to lose, Chelsea dominated the other game though.

Wengerland 01-27-2005 05:55 AM

Bellamy latest is that he could be going to Pompey on loan with Newcastle getting first option on Yakubu in the summer.

Also, do you know if Burton O'Brien is any good, Rob? :-\

Keown looks like he'll be leaving to get some money in, Forest, Southampton and today Wolves and Pompey are said to be interested :$

Dazz 01-27-2005 07:18 AM

Y2Ant, if there was two legs in each round then there would be even more fixture congestion, and bigger teams would be more likely to showcase their younger players, and it's unfair to have the semi final at one of the teams pitches as they have an unfair advantage. I like the way they do it, even the away goals rule is good IMO. Shut up and let it be

Mr. Monday Morning 01-27-2005 08:25 AM

Celtic's on-loan striker Henri Camara could spend the rest of the season at Southampton.

Saints boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed he wants to borrow the Senegal international, who is on loan at Parkhead from Wolves for the season.

He told the Daily Record: "We have made an enquiry about Camara and we are trying to take him on loan for the rest of the season.

"I don't know how close to a deal but (chairman) Rupert Lowe has been in touch with Celtic."

Celtic paid Wolves £1.5million to borrow the player, who has contributed eight goals this season.

---------

WTF that is bullshit, how can Celtic loan out a player that they're loaning themselves :| To say nothing of Camara bitching about wanting to play for a bigger club than Celtic - don't think Southampton fit the bill somehow

Actually I hope they do sign him and he proves as useless as he was for us when we needed him to actually score instead of running around and being shit.

Rob 01-27-2005 08:50 AM

Definately agree with the away goal arguement. It should be over 90 mins. It's an unfair advantage if it's over 120mins.

I don't rate him that highly. Far better midfielders in the SPL than him. Mark Fotheringham (Dundee), Mark Kerr (Dundee Utd) and Chris Burke (Rangers) are three better players who you lot could probably get. O'Brian is a Scotland U21 who is about to be capped by South Africa so people are thinking he is better than he really is.

Anyway, your manager is shite. He can't see outside the bloody SPL.

If it stayed 1-1 at 90mins, you lot should have won on away goals. Instead, we would have another 30mins to get a goal. I don't see how that's fair to you.

Wengerland 01-27-2005 11:17 AM

Keown's had his contract terminated, with Pressman to follow as we've signed this apparantely crap keeper, Hirschfeld or something, as back up for Walker. Looks like Stuart Taylor won't be coming back :(

Levein isn't particularly shite, he's got us passing it around (first goal on saturday was a great example) and is signing younger players than Adams generally bought in, plus they're players who want to succeed in England, rather than the usual players who get bought in on big wages who don't see the need to try and perform for Leicester City because they've already had a great career.

You misunderstand me my son, I didn't say anything about having two legs in every round, I said we need to fix that shit, i.e. just have one leg in the semi final.

Plus being at home can't be that much of an advantage, if you win away at Old Trafford. Infact they should just do what they do in the FA cup and have it at a neutral ground, that works.

Yeah, it's almost as gay as that silver goal rule they brought in at Euro 2004

Also, Norwich are interested in Bellamy

Wengerland 01-29-2005 10:46 AM

Poor RBF, last minute debatable penalty knocked them out, even worse that it was against Southampton :(

Ogen 01-29-2005 11:33 AM

I don't know whats worse losing to your old manager who fukced off to your biggest rivals or losing to a Peter Crouch goal.

LK 01-29-2005 11:48 AM

Wouldn't say it was debatable. Taylor stuck his arm out which is asking for trouble.

toxic rooster 01-29-2005 11:49 AM

oh shit, mike riley

Wengerland 01-29-2005 01:14 PM

YEAH

Came back from a goal down AND scored in the last minute, would have been the other way round under Adams.

Can't say i'm Scowcroft's biggest fan but fair play to him for getting the goal.

Mr. Monday Morning 01-29-2005 03:44 PM

2-0 at the Library, in the game for 80+ minutes, losing to a penalty and a counter-attack goal after Hoddle had thrown forwards on to go for the game (and fair play to him for that). Absolutely no shame in that at all.

LK 01-29-2005 07:28 PM

Hey, Rob just wondering who's your Scottish team?

Oakes had an absolute blinder, I'm hearing.

Wengerland 01-30-2005 07:51 PM

Bolton and Chelsea through today.

Not a great day for the Bruce family, with Steve losing and making a bad decision to take Heskey off  and Alex missing Oldham's best chance.

Ah well, draw's tomorrow at 1:30

FA Cup 5th round draw:

Bolton v Derby or Fulham
West Bromwich Albion or Tottenham v Nottingham Forest
Everton v Manchester United
Charlton Athletic v Leicester City
Burnley v Blackburn
Southampton v Brentford or Hartlepool
Newcastle v Chelsea
Arsenal v West Ham or Sheffield United

Charlton should be a good test, going by our recent away form i think we could maybe surprise them, not the easily winnable or money spinning nothing to lose tie i was hoping for though.

Anelka to Fenerbache, Djemba-Djemba to Villa and Bellamy on loan to Celtic are probably the main moves so far, looks like Dawson and Reid will be leaving the Trees to go to Spurs for £8m though, no way are they worth that much.

Leicester are meant to be getting Stephen Hughes from Rangers (any info please Rob ;)) for £100,000, money freed up after Tricky Trev, Keown, Pressman and Matty Elliott, who's retirement means the end of the O'Neill era but best of luck to him, his goals to win us the Worthington Cup make him a legend.

Ogen 01-31-2005 06:32 PM

Spurs have got a allright deal on them two I think. Reid will have made up about 5 million of that and Dawson looks like he'll be great good signings by Spurs.

Gutted we've bought the Djemba twins. As if buying a shit player wasn't bad enough which maybe it might not have been had it been in another position given the size of our squad but its in the only position we've real cover in. We had McCann, Hendrie, Hitzelberger, Berson and Davies already and now we add the Djemba twins to it. Even though Hitz looks like hes off to Germany in the summer theres no need to sign him. All the best to the lad and I hope he proves me wrong but I don't think any Villa fans are happy about this one. Allthough hes making himself more liked by saying he turned down the blues for us.

Steal for 100k. Hughes is a good young player who never caught a break with Alex McLeish for some reason. Probably because he is obsessed with buying shit players. He'd walk into any other SPL team other than Celtic obviously. Personally, I'd have put in him the Rangers starting XI everyweek.

Rob 01-31-2005 07:38 PM

Barry Ferguson went back to Rangers (what a lack of ambition), Oliver Bernard to Southampton, Geremi refused to go back to Boro and Henri Camara was released by Celtic and Wolves sent him to Southampton. Mikel Arteta went to Everton. I'm interested to see how this turns out. I never saw what everyone in Scotland thought was so great with this lad.

Is this the same Stephen Hughes who was an Arsenal youth player, or am I getting my wires crossed somewhere?

Mr. Monday Morning 02-01-2005 07:34 AM

Birmingham have signed Pandiani on loan :|:|:|

Also

"According to the Coca-Cola Championship club, Southampton have agreed to pay a six-figure sum to Wolves to take the player until the end of the current campaign."

lol excellent, Celtic pay us £1.5m to take him on loan for 6 months, now we're charging Southampton til the end of the season, when he will still be our player

Nah, that Hughes is with Coventry now. This one's came through the Rangers youth system i believe, only 22 years old.

Alright my team is Aberdeen. Well done on Saturday. Anything to cause that cunt McCall to fail even more is alright in my book.

His main problem was his lack of a physical presence which is pretty much required in Scottish football. He hasn't had the best of times with injuries as well. An alright player with the ball at his feet.

Mr. Monday Morning 02-01-2005 04:11 PM

Spurs have finalises an agreement with Derby to sign Tom Huddlestone in the summer :|!

Dawson, Reid, now Huddlestone...pretty much the best 3 young players in the Championship atm, pretty hot business for Spurs

toxic rooster 02-01-2005 05:54 PM

Christ sake...Almunia. :nono:

One day after the transfer window closed, too.

Wengerland 02-01-2005 06:17 PM

Just play Stuart Taylor.

Credit to Man Utd though, a good performance especially second half, Arsenal didn't look like scoring even after the sending off.

LK 02-01-2005 06:34 PM

Great performance from United tonight. Heimze, Giggs and Keane were quality.

Dawson's not the player he was 2 years ago, glandular fever affected him quite badly. I'd say Wes Morgan and Lescott are better prospects.

Can't argue about Reid and it would depend where they play Huddlestone, good passer but he's not too great defensively.

They're developing a good, young squad though.

fucking come on. beautiful game. passion there, and we have the talent and strength to take anyone on. everything seems to be coming together quite nicely, should be an interesting run in if we can continue our form.

The Mask 02-01-2005 09:46 PM

also, roy keane is a fucking legend. beautiful to see ronaldo giving it some to the arse fans after his goals too.

i'd condemn silvestre, but we won and it was pretty funny. also gives me the chance to laugh at wee gooner more cause we trounced them with ten men.

speaking of tenmen, how about that vieira.
