I think JP Ricciardi deserves the blame for this season, he's lucky Gibbons is likely to be an easy scapegoat

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-21-2006 11:25 PM

Yeah true, I don't follow much in baseball outside of the Red Sox but it seems to me that they overpaid for some of their pick ups this offseason. I mean BJ Ryan has been really good but didn't he get something like 50+ mil? Same goes for AJ Burnett who had a history of injuries, and has kept up with that tradition.

The Miz 08-21-2006 11:33 PM

I don't mind the Ryan signing, yeah he's overpaid but they desperately needed a dominant closer. The Burnett, Molina, and Gaudin moves were alot more questionable.

YOUR Hero 08-21-2006 11:43 PM

Don't forget moving Bush to Milwaukee as well. Funny how so much ended up hinging on the Jays 3rd starter, Towers. His struggles just compounded the Jays weaknesses

The Miz 08-21-2006 11:44 PM

Overbay was a good pickup

New York Mets have a winner on their hand in Jeremy Barfield. Here's a guy that's not afraid to push his father down a flight of stairs.

Barfield taken to hospital after 18-year-old son shoves him down stairs

HOUSTON (AP) -- Former All-Star outfielder Jesse Barfield was taken to a hospital Sunday after he suffered a head injury when he was shoved down a flight of stairs by his 18-year-old son, the Houston Chronicle reported. Barfield, 46, was treated and released, but Jeremy Barfield was arrested shortly after 8 a.m., the newspaper reported.

The younger Barfield, a high school star outfielder drafted in the ninth round by the New York Mets in June, was expected to be charged with a misdemeanor, said Lt. John Martin, a spokesman for the Harris County Sheriff's Department.

we didn't have a choice. The jays aren't the most attractive place to play.

I honestly shut my t.v off after seeing Gibbons and Lilly.

Gibbons needs to go.

Also, sweep:cool:

The Outlaw 08-22-2006 02:59 PM

No punches were thrown.

Loose Cannon 08-22-2006 03:55 PM

lol, I love how overblown stories get.

Jays pitcher Lilly used a grappling hook on manager Gibbons last night after Gibbons claimed his pitcher was being a homosexual for not throwing strikes.

ct2k 08-22-2006 03:58 PM

Really starting to miss the 2004 rotation of Pedro, Schilling, Lowe, Wakefield, and Arroyo right now. There's no telling if Pedro, Lowe, and Arroyo would still have good numbers pitching in the AL, but I'm willing to bet that they'd be better than Josh "5+ ERA" Beckett and Jason "5+ career ERA" Johnson. Good thing he's designated for assignment.

Lester's numbers were great the first few months after he was called up, but then he became human and his numbers fell. Even Papelbon has hit a slump with something like 3 BS in the past 2 weeks. I think his ERA is still below 1, but that really doesn't matter when his BS puts us another game back from the Yankees.

Even if we don't make the playoffs, which doesn't look good because the Yankees are absolutely dominant right now and it doesn't look like the White Sox and Twins are slipping either, hopefully Theo makes some moves this offseason to improve our rotation and bullpen without seriously affecting our offense. Schilling is supposed to retire this season, and I don't want Beckett as our staff ace the way he's pitching this season.

The Miz 08-22-2006 07:12 PM

If I was Esptein I would try as hard as possible to deal Manny to LAA for pitching this offseason. It won't be easy to deal him but I think that's the best case scenario for them

OssMan 08-22-2006 07:33 PM

METS GOT SHAWN GREEN NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Miz 08-22-2006 08:00 PM

Bobby Crosby plays for like 2 days before getting injured again. AWESOME. He needs to borrow Tejada's roids

OssMan 08-22-2006 09:31 PM

mets game is awesome, delgado and pujols each have 2 home run and a grandslam

Hope Shawn Green goes 0-50 with the Mets so we can designate him for assignment and sign Jose Lima or another hispanic player

The Miz 08-22-2006 10:28 PM

So is he going to be forced to change his name to Shawn Verde or something

YOUR Hero 08-22-2006 10:29 PM

Shawn Green was awesome as a Jay. Then he didn't want to re-sign with them. Then he had another good year or so and then... well then he got shitty.

OssMan 08-22-2006 10:32 PM

what happened to www.shawngreenstinks.com, that site rocked

OssMan 08-22-2006 10:51 PM

WOOO best game of the year, beltran walk off home run, yeyer

Evil Vito 08-22-2006 11:51 PM

AssMan you are the most negative person ever. Mets could trade Milledge for Johan Santana or something and you'd be like "ugh why deal milledge i hope johan goes 1-20 with a 5 era"

Anyways, awesome day for Mets fans. Glavine could only miss a week, Mota looked good, the Carloses are awesome, and Green can help with our shoddy outfield (Arizona's paying for him so why not?)

great day :)

OssMan 08-23-2006 12:18 AM

nah johan santana i would root for if we gave up milledge, i happen to hate shawn green and i know there is no point to this trade. floyd is gonna be off the DL soon and he'll start every day in LF, and everyone seems to think endy chavez cant start everyday so they'd play milledge in LF 4 days a week (and take him out in the 6th inning after 2 at bats every day like they always do for some reason) and put chavez in. Never should have traded Nady in the first place

The Miz 08-23-2006 12:24 AM

Maybe its because I just hit up the bong (this will get me cool points with The Hurricane), but I seriously cried laughing when Wily Mo Pena hit a lazy fly ball to Gettin-Figgy-With-It and it bounced off his glove and hit him in the chin. ROFL

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-23-2006 12:34 AM

I went to one of my friends softball games tonight and this huge dyke (we were calling her the manmonth) hit 4 triples (2 times with the bases loaded) and had 13 rbi's in the game...it was probably the funniest night of my life

floyd hasnt been good all year even when healthy. they had to trade nady, with D sanchez gone they were in a pinch for a reliver, X was good but replacable. as for endy, i think he can start but i would rather have him coming off the bench. green is a solid vet that can produce in a strong lienup. didnt give up much of any value and d'backs are eating some of the salary(not sure on the numbers). so why not take a chance on someone who was once very very good, shit look at valentin! the key word here is DEPTH. besides beltran no outfeilders have been that great as an everyday, so stock up, play the hot hand

annnnnnnnnnd lets go mets!

Yeah every softball team has that fat chick, but usually she's terrible.

MVP 08-23-2006 01:26 AM

Also ROFL at that Chone Figgins little league catch.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-23-2006 01:34 AM

Pedoria playing short tonight (wearing #64 lol) THE FUTURE

ct2k 08-23-2006 04:00 PM

wtf Adrian Beltre sucks, how the fuck did he single handedly beat us?

The Miz 08-23-2006 04:49 PM

Beltre has been pretty good since the ASB. He is still the worst player of all time, though

ct2k 08-23-2006 04:50 PM

Nah 2nd after Shon Figgins

The Miz 08-23-2006 04:53 PM

Jim "Manager of the Year" Leyland names one of the 5 worst hitting regulars in baseball his leadoff hitter. Sweet

ct2k 08-23-2006 04:58 PM

Manager of the year = Joe Torre

no bias
