Really think this was their best show of the year. Brought in alot of surprises for the live show. Hopefully they can keep it up with the taped shows. Taryn returning is interesting and I hope it for more than just a Gail Kim feud. Cornette is interesting in himself and a good get for GFW. Don't imagine Bruce is done either and will return at some point. Petey Williams showing up and hitting a Canadian Destroyer was also a great moment for me as that's my favorite move.
Also think they may have found their identity a bit now. Not having the TNA titles goes a long way with that but they are embracing the GFW name and Cornette seems like a good fit. Wouldn't be opposed to an old school approach with the book. |
Here's the new GFW Championship belts. Grand Championship stay the same as it had no TNA badging.

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to the rants it's gonna lead to. I'm just thinking about the guy's health. lol

In the same day they give us a glimmer of hope in brining in Jim Cornette

So they cut the only thing people would want to see Jim Cornette talking? Who the fuck edits this?
Quote:
EDIT: Read the championship spoiler. Still better than Jim "Oh no, Kenny did comedy wrestling once but I'll take a paycheck from the biggest fucking joke in wrestling" Cornette |

Just starting this week, was cooking chicken again but was trying something new, had biscuits in a pan and squashed them, then put the chicken on top of them with cheese and bacon bits on top of that. Like a chicken casserole type deal without any veggies.
Show is starting with a argument between Jarrett and Bobby Lashleys MMA coach with wrestlers and MMMA guys in the mix as well.
OVE Jake and Dave Crist vs The Heatseakers.
OVE win a pretty quick match. Showed their stuff and that was about it.
Eli Drake trying to sweet talk his way out of the #1 spot in the gauntlet. Cornette told him he'd give him another number if he'd leave him alone, Jim gave him number 2.
Taryn Terrell out now explaining why she attacked Gail last week with JB.
Man I love Taryn, great promo. She's came along way and I'm glad she's back.
Gail rushed the ring and JB stopped her from getting to Taryn.
Cornette now getting into it with Lashley and his MMA team in his office.
Lashley says he'll worry about his team but is mad he isn't GFW Champion right now.
Grado couldn't get Laural to marry him so he's saying his goodbye to the USA tonight and being deported.
Laural is out now without her usual disastrous wedding look and has taken a shower.
She said Grado was the peanut butter to her jelly and the whip cream to her twinke. Then she proposed to him and he said yes. Grado gets to stay.
Kongo Kong out now but Mahalbali Shera stood in the middle of the isle and Kong just left.
Cornette now praising Eddie Edwards in his office and said he'd be proud if Eddie was the Global Champion.
LAX segment, they've jaked up their liquor prices at the club and their hoes are on lock. Also got the shit comming across the border taken care of, now it time to take care of business tonight.
Gauntlet match is starting now for the GFW Global Heavyweight Championship. #1 is Eddie Edwards and of course Eli Drake is # 2.
After two minutes # 3 will enter then every 90 seconds. It's an over the top rope elimination gauntlet so pretty much a battle royal. Last two though will have a regular match.
#3 is Mario Bocara
#4 is Kingston
#5 is Braxton Sutter
#6 is Richard Justice a stand by wrestler.
#7 is EC3
Justice is the first elimination by EC3.

Bocara and Kingston have been eliminated by Kongo Kong.

Everyone teaming up to try and get Fallah Bahh out unsucessfully.

#18 is Lashley
He eliminated KM and Bahh.

#20 was promised to Low Ki last week by Jim Cornette.
Moose eliminated Garza Jr and Low Ki is out now.
EC3 eliminated Fantasma
Moose and Eddie Edwards eliminated EC3
Lashley eliminated Low Ki as he had Moose locked in a dragon sleeper hold.
Moose eliminated Lashley, went to the top rope and Moose hit him with a drop kick. Final 4 is Edwards, Drake, Moose and Johnny Impact.
Edwards eliminated Moose.
Johnny Impact almost eliminated Drake but his shoulders only touched and his feet were still in the rin as he hung on. Not eliminated.
Drake went through the bottom rooe and pulled Impact off the apron to eliminate him.
Edwards and Drake will now fight it out to a oin fall or submission. The two that started the match.
Pulling for Drake here.
Eli Drake is the new GFW Champion. ELI DRAKE.
Lashleys MMA team attacked a referee again and the Dan Lambert shoved Scott D'amore to the ground. Lashley trying to keep peace but his MMA team wants him to stop wrestling and might be trying to sabotage his GFW career.
Eli Drake is GFW Global Heavyweight Championship though, I love it. Big fan of Drake and the confidence he has while on the mic and while he isn't the best in the ring I'll admit he's not bad. I think his reign could end up with a face turn as the Impact Zone crowd was behind him and he's got a similar EC3 vibe when he was at the peak of his push. I think Drake can really improve and be a new name for Impact. Glad they didn't throw it on Johnny Impact as a big name or Lashley again. Really digging Cornette and the feel of the show now, starting out to be a good taping but you never know about the next one.

Depends on how they're booking him. It worked for Flair in the '92 rumble.

I have no idea who Eli Drake even is, but that seems fitting.
He's definitely gotten on the bad side of Cornette who's been a face so far but with what he did in the gauntlet, Cornette might have come around to him. I think Cornette eventually turns depending on how much they actually use him as he doesn't seem to be real committed to them in the interview I heard him speak about it. As for Drake I think he's in a great spot to really prove himself with this push and hope he does. Glad they went with someone new and not the regular latest ex WWE guy.

I've looked up some Eli Drake promos. Guy seems to actually have a personality and isn't a typical little indy guy who doesn't look like he could beat up a 12 year old. So he's got something going for him.
The most criticism I've heard about him from other posters is that he acts to much like The Rock. Now if that's a criticism its a damn good on to have. I'd say the way he carries himself and the confidence he shows is Rock like and with him being around the Rock on that show I'm sure it's something he picked up from him, which isn't a bad thing. Alot worse promos out there than Eli Drake.
Just starting, Jeff Jarrett and Dan Lambert were arguing as Lashley and his MMA team entered the building.
Eli Drake is on his way out to the ring with his GFW Global Championship. Ring has a zebra print sofa in it.
Drake delivered a pretty good promo and Johnny Impact is on his way to the ring now.
Johnny wants a shot a the title and now Eddie Edwards is out.
Cornette came down and msdecsctag team match tonight with Drake & Adonis vs Johnny Impact & Eddie Edwards. If Eddie or Johnny vet the pin they get a title shot but if they loss neither gets it.
OVE vs Fallah Bahh & Mario Bocara is the first match.
OVE won the match, their biggest challenge yet. Won with putting Mario in a electric chair position and the other guy hit a nrckbreaker from the top rope.
Caleb Konley with Trevor Lee vs Petey Williams is next.
Petey won despite the Trevor Lee distraction. Lee attacked Williams after the match and Sonjay Dutt made the save.
Taryn attacked Allie earlier tonight and was speaking to Sienna when Karen Jarrett interrupted them. Made a tag match for next week between them and Gail Kim and Allie.
Richard Justice the stand by wrestler has a match against Kongo Kong now.
Justice didn't last long, Kongo hit him with a top rope splash and then continued to beat up Justice. Mahalbali Shera came down to the ring and was able to knock Kong out of the ring but not off his feet.
LAX is out now, Low Ki vs James Storm.
Low Ki won off LAX interference.
Grados attempt to stay on the US by marring Laural was foiled when he found out Laural is Canadian. This might get ugly if he backs out of the wedding on her.
Lashley had an interview with his MMA team and said hed ske the decision on which he'll do when the time I'd right. Main event is up now.
Eli Drake pinned Eddie Edwards to win the match. Neither Eddie or Johnny Impact will get the first title shot.
Lashley and his MMA team have come to the ring after the match and Lambert is insulting the GFW wrestlers that were in the main event. Cornette came out and told Bobby he wouldn't be at AAA Mania if his team got in the ring and that next week Drake defends his Global Championship aagainst Matt Sydal.
Some Good/Bad news regarding GFW.
The good news being they signed an extension with POP TV and the bad being its terrible in terms of money. The original tv deal would have expired by January 2018 had the extension not been made so GFW now gets at least 1 more year of tv guaranteed. Quote:
Yeah good/bad news. Feel like they are trying to get Spike back with the international deals they signed with them. Pop atleast likes the ratings bump that they do get for Impact but its not enough to fork over any money.
Starting on time tbis week, Trevor Lee &,Trevor Lee vs Sonjay Dutt & Petey Williams is starting the show.
Good opener, Williams and Dutt picked up the victory.
LAX out now, Ortiz & Santana vs John Bolen & Zachary Wents. OVE are backstage watching.
LAX win, squash mash of course. OVE is now coming out to confront LAX.
